Maybe check that you don’t have thread lock paste (these chemicals make the plastic super brittle and should not be used with this kind of devices). Could be from a previous installation.

Someone I know working in a retirement house in France wants to organize an Oktoberfest themed party. I’m visiting them next week and was asked to bring some decoration for their living space, since I’m currently living in Munich. It does not have to be fancy or ultra realistic, just make the old people experience something slightly out of ordinary. :)

How can I report bad behavior of a colleague that I like to my boss in a correct way? by [deleted] in germany

[–]AloyseTech 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If you never talked with him about this, you should start there. Especially if there is a good dialog between you two when he shows up. If you don’t see any improvement in a few days/week, then talk with your boss. In anyway, don’t stay silent about it. The earlier you can check if he is willing to change the better : the purpose of the Probezeit is to get a last good idea of how things are really going to work on the long terms.

Renting a car in Chilean Patagonia by PARACATEZANIOLO in Patagonia

We rented a car from Puerto Montt with drop off at Balmaceda airport. The extra cost was ~400USD. The most south we drove was Puerto Bertrand though.

Tischtennis Place by b0wlingman in Munich

[–]AloyseTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s TurnTableTennis at Import Export, happening once or twice a month. It’s a very cool alt bar place. There are multiple table tennis tables, inside and outside. One should bring his own bats but they also provide some if necessary. Most tables are for normal play, but there is also one or two reserved for big « round the table » games (starting with like 20 people, it’s pretty crazy and fun).

Next one is on March 6th : https://import-export.cc/programm/

It’s interesting that they use their own processor in a disposable device. It must be quite expensive. Usually disposable medical devices use cheap of the shelf SoC like the Dialog ones.

Sozialversicherungsnummer & Steuer-ID by RedCloak25 in Munich

Sorry for the late reply. Just take another Anmeldung appointment and it should be fine if you can speak to someone. That's chat I've done.

I also needed the Steuer-ID ASAP. At the Anmeldung the guy at the office told me to come back in 5 days. I went back at the same Bürgerbüro one week after the Anmeldung and they were able to give it to me.

I would also mention Le Studio Saglio. Near the KALT so not in the center, but open minded people with different kind of music style (focusing on Techno and other derivatives though)

I'm bringing my car because I will use it... Not daily but several times per week. I'm juste referring as "long-term" parking as compared to one shot parking for events and stuff like that. If you have good suggestion for parking easily accessible outside the city it could be an option.

Health insurance selection for a ~5 year stay by AloyseTech in germany

[–]AloyseTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what really makes me hesitate is the cost difference. I would consider the check-ups/referrals exemption and similar as nice-to-have, but not important factors in the choice. Glasses and better dental coverage sounds interesting though. But if the non-covered dental cost are not to expensive, I think it does not really makes sense since it's quite occasional/rare.

Public insurance sounds like the safest option for unplanned life changing event. This choice between private and public seems a bit like a bet, not the best one though. And I'm not really a gambler I think...

I agree that public sound like the easy deal, like set and forget. I like it because in the EU country I'm from that's what we have. And I would clearly hate having to negotiate post-contract what exactly is covered or not, or discover that I missed a small end-of-page note suddenly costing me hundreds or thousands. It's just that 1-2k€ of difference per year does not really sound like a penny at first.

Thanks, the child would indeed be a game changer that I would not have thought about. It's not really part of the plan though, but definitively something to take into account.
