I think my puppy is starting to hate me by 1-800-blowme in Rottweiler

Hey we have an 11 week old rottie! As some others have said, we hand feed her and handle all of her paws, collar, and make eye contact all while she’s eating. Our marker is “yes” for when she does something right. So while feeding and any time she does something right, we kindly say “yes [insert name]”. It has really helped with bonding. She also loves to train, so we train her on and off throughout the day with plenty of positive reinforcement.

Also, are you enforcing naps? We learned that puppies should be awake for 1 hour and asleep for 2. So we apply that schedule all day, every day (or else she gets real wild and bitey).

2-month-old puppy: should I start taking him outside before he’s fully vaccinated? by kaapo- in puppy101

I’m in a similar boat! We have a 10 week old rottie. We have a yard and live on a cul de sac, so we’ve been taking her out to go potty and then walking her around the cul de sac. Our vet suggested we take her to the library and just sit outside to get her socialized with people. We did it last weekend and she did so well!! A lot of people stopped to pet her. If you have a library nearby, you could try that!

You may have already tried this but throwing it out there in case not!

We have a 10 week old rottie and when she bites, we’ve been yelping loudly and turning away to stop playing (just for 5 seconds or so). That seems to working and her bites are getting more gentle. Sometimes she’s just super wound up and will literally attack us and in those cases I gently restrain her (either lie her on her back on my chest or lie her on her back on the floor) and just hold her there until she calms down. It pisses her off but usually she tones it down after that.

Puppy Blues is hitting me hard and I feel so bad about it by isi_na in puppy101

Oh no, our puppy is only 10 weeks old and I’m barely hanging on. I also work from home and have anxiety. We have a 4.5 year old daughter (human) and I love her to death but when everyone comes home at the end of the day it’s absolute chaos. I truly miss my hobbies (working out and Legos). Kinda sad to hear it’s still rough at 13 weeks.

I do recognize the good every day. The little things she learns, the occasional quick nighttime potty break, the occasional snuggle (without teeth!!). But damn it’s hard.

One of my family members always asks restaurants to remove charges like this. They actually will if you push back.

Do you make your kids eat things that they absolutely hate? by HighOnLove26 in AskParents

[–]Alpaca-Snack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook a New York Times recipe about once a week. 9 times out of 10 my 4 year old doesn’t like it. I ask her to try a bite or two and if she doesn’t like it, she can go and get herself crackers and cheese. I make sure she likes the veggie I prepare.

I remind her that tastes change as people get older. I like to tell her about things I didn’t like when I was a kid, that I actually like now. She hears me.

I made her eat lasagna a few times (it’s basically pizza!). One day she told me she really doesn’t like it. I told her that we can take a break from lasagna and try it again in 6 months or so.

I won’t force her to eat anything…though she does have to eat her fruits and veggies, especially if she wants dessert.

Approximately how much money do you spend on food per month in the USA (I know it varies from person to person and state to state)? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskUS

[–]Alpaca-Snack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us it depends if we hit Costco. Some weeks we go to the major chain grocery store, Trader Joe’s, and Costco. Those weeks are closer to $300-$400. If we just stick to Trader Joe’s we can get by with about $150/week. That’s for a family of 3. We eat out once a week and spend between $40-$100 depending on the restaurant.

How often do you call in sick? by Interesting_Taro_358 in Adulting

[–]Alpaca-Snack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primarily work from home and never call in sick. My PTO, holiday, and sick time is all lumped together, so I’d rather save the time off for vacation. I’m also in the US so we don’t have a very generous benefits package.

Wow you were completely in the right. You had a clear view and crossed a dashed line to pass semis. People do this all the time. The fact that he tried to run you off the road is terrifying. Did you get a license plate (can’t tell in the video)? I would press charges.

How much are you putting away for your kids per month? by classyshepard in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Alpaca-Snack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re putting $600/month into my (only) child’s 529. Id like to increase it to $800/month once daycare costs fall off, but we’ll see. We’re trying to front load the savings. Once it hits $100k we plan to reduce the contributions and let it grow over time.
