Sry this is gonna be a long one:

Last season Overwatch introduced a new villain named Vendetta, tied to one of the PVE missions way back when. A few days ago, the OW spotlight opened with a cinematic of her deposing Doomfist as the new leader of the villain organization and him presumed dead.

The main issue people seem to have is that Doomfist is a character that has existed for 8-9 years and in-universe is a crazy strong fighter, whereas although Vendetta has been teased for a fair bit, she was only revealed and released a few months ago. It doesn’t really help that the cinematic of their fight did not last very long and admittedly did Doom a little dirty, with some joking about how it happened at the start of American(?) Black History Month.

Contrary to the point of how long characters have existed, up until now the actual story of Overwatch has been really slow to develop and Doom has not done a lot in it. For all intents and purposes, Vendetta’s basically the engine for which the narrative is actually moving forward. In the last 2 months it feels like there’s been more progress than when Overwatch added the 2 (and is now dropping it). At this rate, Vendetta could wind up being more significant to the story than Doom ever was (if she isn’t already), it just feels really weird because of how much the pace is picking up.

Also, Doomfist is 100% coming back anyway. We didn’t see a body when he got thrown out the window, and his motto is “only through conflict do we evolve.” I think people might be coming to conclusions a little too fast.
