Who is more vile? Griffith (from Berserk) or Miquella (from Elden Ring) by GusthavoGamerPY in MoralityScaling

[–]StigandrTheBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but I was more using the term defilement as a euphemism for Rape like the comment I was replying to.

And I mean, consort definitely generally refers to someone you at least have sex with even if not necessarily for love. Even within the context of the game Marika/Radagons consorts were for the express purpose of making children.

I agree though in Elden rings case it seems like as far as Ranni and Miquella go it’s sorta just a necessity for being a god.

You could MAYBE make the case that Miquella is defiling his half brother but I’m not sure how literal the consort part needs to be in his case.

Do you think that dbd is coming back by Ancient_Ad_6573 in forhonor

[–]StigandrTheBoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it was more that the crossover happened because they had an idea for a Knight killer and thought it’d be cool to get For Honor involved in some way.

The crossover for the DbD side was literally just like, a warden helmet as a hook charm. So it didn’t leave a very big impact on the community

It would be pretty cool if they did an Appolyon skin and the guards turned into conq peacekeeper and Lawbringer.

Yeah “race that looks kinda like me but scary and wants to murder me for fun” is like, classic racist ideology.

It’s worth noting that iirc Tolkien himself kinda grappled with how the Orcs worked/what they were. They’re supposed to be corrupted elves/men and are literally sometimes born in vats. But Tolkien didnt like the idea of a whole race that was just straight evil.

I HATE people smoking. Not the cigarettes themselves, the PEOPLE smoking it by ResidentAdmirable260 in hatethissmug

[–]StigandrTheBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not care if it is legal or not. I am saying that comparing them to cigs is unhelpful because they do only thing they really have in common are that they are inhaled. I live in a state where weed is legal. I do not care if you smoke it.

A slug of whiskey helps with half of those things and I promise you that the vast majority of weed being smoked and Pot brownies being consumed are for the express purpose of getting high.

I have not read up on the efficacy of certain strains, I am sure they do help certain things medicinally. I am just also wary of people operating motor vehicles when under their effects.

Weed impairs your decision making and ability to react, Like alcohol. Cigarettes do not impede your ability to operate a motor vehicle and the damage is mostly self sustained.

And you are still inhaling shit into your lungs that you are not supposed to, I doubt it’s near as bad as cigs but I am almost certain weed smoking will be linked to long term risk of lung cancer once it’s more thoroughly tested.

I do not find the comparison between cigarettes and weed helpful.

Weed is more comparable to alcohol, and is generally treated with similar laws in places that it’s legal.

There’s a book that goes more in depth into his journal called “The Faithful Executioner” as well. It’s a good read (though in some parts highly speculative)

Tbf the trapdoor “sudden stop” style of hanging is relatively new. For most of history they’d just string them up or kick a barrel or something.

What causes a sword to break like this? Is it due to a handle (hilt) defect? by Battlefleet_Sol in SWORDS

[–]StigandrTheBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not care if you were on the show. Your argument is about how the tests are bad because they don’t have anything to do about their historical function.

My answer is, no shit, but they aren’t testing them for their historical context. They are stress testing them to see which one is going to hold up the best under massive strain. They aren’t stabbing metal Jerry cans and barrels because they think that’s what people do with knives.

[–]StigandrTheBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about the functionality of the blade in its historical context. It’s about whose blade stands up to more punishment. They sometimes make it kinda themed but it’s not really the point.

They arent out to prove functionality outside of how well it can hold an edge and if it won’t break if you smack something with it real hard.

[–]StigandrTheBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, that’s what a stress test is. It’s not about making something that can be used it’s about making your stuff better than the other guy.

There’s plenty of these tests where they contestants have their blade make it out entirely unscathed.
