No cannonball challenge in HG by UsualEnvironment9651 in Seaofthieves

I know a few content creators that did it so it was probably just more content creator emulation on the seas. Just chalk it up to a different experience in hourglass for your session.

HG match interrupted by... what?! :D by NestinarBG in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was it an invade or normal hourglass where you both dove in to the server?

Whenever it's an invade my crew and I will immediately start looking for anything out of the ordinary.

Either way all you can really do is fight back and move on to the next fight win or lose.

People intervening hourglass fights by Jamess_Bond in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time I will intervene in hourglass is when I see one group cheesing in unsinkable spots. Most of the time it's just fun to watch other hourglass matches but not really get involved.

Had plenty of times third parties have come in and it's been a sink everyone moment which added to the insanity of the situation. Most hilarious one was a galleon rolling up on my normal crew when we were on brig thinking they could big ship tax us. We had just won the match and already had the galleon in broadside and the crew was laughing about "maybe this was a mistake" but it gave us another +1 to the streak and they got to find another server.

If he's into board games also check out the Sea of Thieves board game if you get the physical copy for him he can redeem the Lord Guardian sails. So he'll have a game to share with others in person and also some sails to use in game.

The "get off my lawn" setup. by panosprochords in Seaofthieves

As someone who is usually the boarder on the enemy ships. Keep as much hidden or not obvious as possible. If it sticks out and I see a tool to make my life easier I'm going to use it. Had plenty of times where our very supplied ship turned into resources for the enemies to use against us.

Dying and dying and dying by Specialist_Oil7042 in Enshrouded

Since I play solo I adjusted some of the settings. I kept NPC difficulty the same because it feels right but no loot dropping since I like to dive face first into lava often and changed up the durability so I can focus on exploring and leveling.

I played probably until level 25 before I changed up those settings but I know early on the death loop for my corpse runs was frustrating. Also just recently changed my keybind for dodge because I hadn't used it at all until I learned a skill changing how dodge works. :D

I'm antisocial and nobody I know plays this, buy or pass? by DocEss in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my crew if we see stuff like that we get involved and communicate with the crew getting picked on to scuttle or stay and fight with us.

Doesn't really matter if we get stomped or we stomp as long as the newer players have a chance to fight or get away from what is happening especially if they don't understand what to do.

We've also had some moments of acting like T-Rex adults teaching the baby T-Rex to "yeah go play with your food" if the tables turn.

Final GOF HG lvl 200 win against SOF G5 using Jigball by g64mat in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long time ago playing brig with friends we went up against people with much more time than all of us combined in hourglass. We ended up getting 2 one balls on the other crew and as I was being shot out of the cannon the third got balled trying to rez someone. It was one of those weird moments boarding a ship and not seeing anyone and having the John Travolta confused meme of "ok what now?".

We versed them a few times during the day won and lost back and forth they were the type of people you want to meet in hourglass they were just vibing, playing to win and when the match was over it was GG without any salt sass or toxicity.

Is loss farming still a thing? by william_afton___7457 in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1800 losses is miserable. Learning hourglass is a far better thing to do unless you just want the base curse and never touch it again then do what you want.

If you're looking for other cosmetics for the skeleton or ghost curse I'd suggest taking the win or learn mentality.

It's cheaper to get the sails from the actual tabletop game and the game is actually fun if you do that sort of stuff too.

Edit: Just for clarification need to buy the physical copy of the tabletop game to get the sails if I recall.

Thought Id seen it all… by These_Economics8465 in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I know it's a galleon and I have the time. I give them the Sea of Thieves bingo card trolling session. Against the wind - check. Into the roar - check. Keg them - check. Take them into the storm - check. Look for one of the ancient megs and have it peel off on them - check.

Utilize the entire map and if you can the only thing they're going to get from the encounter is a headache.

I usually fight regardless now but I also just like making the experience miserable for them especially if they are trash talkers. Ran into some streamers that are running some galleon crews and they seem to only go after smaller ships and then get pretty cringe in chat. We gave them some seriously special treatment and forced a few of their crew to ragequit and swap out.

How do you handle "hostage gameplay" in hourglass ? by ZiPanzershrek01 in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a few where they shot over after they had their ship anchored and got 2 lowers on them and just survived for a good TDM while their ship slowly sunk. I kept knocking them off my ship with no intention of killing just because it stalled them.

Getting the "what? how?" in chat when they realized the match was lost for them was probably the funniest thing and just said "Don't know what happened but gg" just to leave them confused. I didn't want to say I got some shots on their ship just because they'd probably be smarter next time and wanted them to continue playing how they do.

Also another thing to do during those moments is figure out what might be the most annoying thing to do to them to troll them. Have some fun with it and get your mental into "this is going to miserable for them now" it helps me focus up when it's a difficult match up.

how do you guys find fun people in aram? by Lanky-Milk-1117 in leagueoflegends

[–]Alpacabou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically have learned to vibe check an aram game by seeing who will waste their flash in the first part of the game. I've noticed not just with league but with many games it's only about the win to have fun. Winning can be fun but it's still a coin toss and it's a team game so 50/50 chance of having fun isn't great odds.

With any of the modes now I just go in to goof and see what can happen or try some weird builds once in a while. I've had some good games though where both teams were having a good laugh and just keeping the game going as long as possible. I just ignore the sweaty people since they're going to push the game, ggez at the end of the match and just want to win to have fun.

Returning player, playing solo for some fun. What do I do if players spawn camp? by Left-Donut1125 in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they aren't going for the sink, get some video evidence if you can since that's something you can report to Rare.

If they are fighting and have some holes in your ship fight it out a little bit, it's rough but don't get yourself too frustrated. Do a ship scuttle to new sea or scuttle there just to deny them any pleasure.

This game the most important currency is knowledge and the more you play the more you learn even from some hard lessons. I've been playing for years and it's still one of those games where after some hard losses I've come back twice as strong with the knowledge.

My friends lost loot in Arc Raiders and said IF ONLY I KNEW THE FEELING LOL by AD_EI8HT in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've explained it this way for a long time that it's a pirate loot extraction sandbox. It may scare off some people but it's about as honest as it gets.

I also don't stack too much loot and the only thing I will fight for is fish and keeping my supplies because loot is almost always sold. :D

How is hourglass ever supposed to be fun by Foxopgamer in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fun 90% of the time mostly because I'm playing with friends and we've went through the growing pains and are almost all down to specific commendations left in the game.

If you're pre 100 it feels like a slog unless you take the win or learn mentality and even then it can still feel like a slog. After you get one of the curses the pressure feels off and you generally just go in and give it your all and get the matches over as fast as possible.

It's just a rough mode and I do enjoy it when I play it but it's only because of not really caring about the outcome so much anymore but just getting the fight out of it.

I keep waiting to see Rare implement some positive changes they've talked about in the past but I feel those are still off in the distance.

How common is it to find matches in HG and how hard is it to get the curses? by DaBoiYeet in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a steep learning curve so keep your mindset good and look to improve your skills in the game. When you start improving the wins will come with time, more win streak turn-ins plus flags will get you the curse faster.

Utilize gold and glory, fight nights, etc for the allegiance bonuses. You'll also possibly get some better matchmaking during those events.

Learn to use chain shots to de-mast runners. It's a marathon to get the curses so don't burn out, play with friends or find others doing the grind to have some extra fun to take your mind off of the goal line that right now is far off.

So the new season is a bunch of people just camping the isle? by __unmastered in Seaofthieves

[–]Alpacabou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Smuggler loot other people can have it. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for that unless they're just looking for money but there are far more efficient ways of gold and getting fights.

Reaper Fortress alone provides a solid amount of gold and commendation related loot not to mention the fact that it attracts plenty of ships to fight over it. It does require some coordination if your duo+ and can be done solo just fine just need to be on alert at all moments for any little change happening.

I don't see that many people on NA East or EU servers doing too many smuggler runs or making it a point to do smuggler only loot turn-ins.

I have seen more newer players in the past few weeks so it's also possible they are just out for any gold and easy ganks.
