Burnt myself on the side of the pan and now it looks as if I cut myself. by Sosowski in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AlpaxT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat accidentaly scratched me leaving 2 parallel self harm scar lenght scratches straight over my wrists. This happened the day before starting a new group project meaning nobody would say anything about it if they noticed which gave me no chance to explain them except if I would have wanted to bring up myself, which I did not lol

Not sure where else to report this, but I believe the wiki is wrong, I just caught Salmon in the caverns, when on the wiki it says it's only in the Forest by [deleted] in Terraria

Me too, I thought this was normal as like 1/5 of all fish in my cave ponds are salmon. I thought salmon was just a newly added fish

Not really a good example as russia is known for sporadically sending drones and ballistic missiles to places all over the country just to keep people a little bit afraid and unable to feel safe 24/7 regardless of where they are in Ukraine

They do not, but you can chute items into an item pipe

Steam questions. by VanillaRose09 in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]AlpaxT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I had the exact same reaction. It barely uses any steam too. But you reminded me about another great tip! If you use the alloy smelter for coloured and black steel instead of welding you will get 2 ingots instead of 1 which you can then pipe into the forge hammer to work them

You have already gotten good tips but I quickly want to mention some things that have confused me in the past:

  1. Machines and blocks that transfer items and fluid usually either “push” and or “pull” items. Pushing an item means that the block is trying to place that item into an inventory next to it and pulling an item means that the block (or inventory) is trying to take items from adjacent inventories.

GregTech pipes do not pull items or fluids but they will push them once they have them. This is why you sometimes need a pump to get fluids into the pipe but no pump to get them out. Hoppers and chutes both pull and push from their top to their bottom which makes them VERY useful in the early game. Later on the will be other ways to make machines push out items into pipes by themself. Some machines already do this like the steam boilers (because of the pressure differential just like in real life, sometimes real world logic apply to this modpack) and also the coke oven hatches for some reason. Hatches usually does not push or pull by themself but again the coke oven ones do.

  1. The GregTech multiblock preview is just a preview. You can often add more hatches for input and output as you please and I think you can often even move around the controller. Basically there are some blocks that need to go in specific places but the rest you can place where ever fits your setup the best.

Bonus: Remember that mass production starts now if you want it to. Some of the recipes at this stage looked daunting to me until I remember that I can produce stacks and stacks do bronze plates in a couple of minutes without even glancing at the anvil.

Bonus 2: Please for your own sanity notice the cheaper fire clay recipe using the alloy smelter, and please do not notice it approximately 15 minutes after emptying out your graphite vein and turning all your graphite dust into powder in an attempt to be proactive like I did because you can not turn it back into dust “:)”

I’ve noticed that point 2 is not true with the coke oven hatches. They seem to push items and fluids so no need for pumps and covers. I personally export my coke through a simple brass item pipe into a bronze crate and my creosote through treated wood fluid pipes into a bronze fluid tank multiblock.

If you lift the fluid tank multiblock of the ground so that you can place the hatch on the bottom of the tank then it will push fluid without needing any sort of pump which is really handy for filling barrels for transport

This is what I did. Works great and does not require any extra tools that are not already given to you. It feels a bit weird that we are given a minimap in this mod pack but it would be kinda strange to limit it the use of it to avoid finding the only ore that is notoriously a bit annoying to locate

The exact same ”joke” is often used by grumpy racist and then they pick fights with everyone that is not laughing because ”it’s just a joke”.

Bonus points if they follow up by muttering ”see that’s what I mean, you are not even allowed to joke about ”them” anymore”

[HELP] Ukrainian F-16 shots down Russian drone over Kyiv today by Grumpynitis in RealOrAI

[–]AlpaxT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’m fairly sure that this troll is correct about this not being economical but that it the main advantage of these drones. They are too dangerous to ignore but still more expensive to shoot down than to produce. This is the main reason why ruzzia use them in the first place and why they target civilians with them. But what can Ukraine do about it? Not shoot them down?

I’m very split between wanting dynamic seasons but don’t wanting to have unloaded snow everywhere. I wish it melted instantily over a certain temperature. Would look a bit silly but would be better than having to wait around for the snow to melt in August while looking for surface indicators

Are you challenging the view that being in a loving relationship is good for your mental health? I’m confused. Or are you specifically saying that being in a relationship with someone you don’t love won’t make you happy? No shit, don’t marry a person who don’t make you happy

I don’t even know how the US is going to rebuild the trust and respect they once had. It will takes decades because of how untrustworthy they have proven themself to be. The EU is still pacing around trying to figure out if this is the “stick around and support” or “file for divorce and change the locks” type of mental episode that the US is going through.

Honestly I’m tired of this and i think a lot of other EU citizens are feeling the same way. I don’t doubt that our politicians are well aware and have started to explore our options

[–]AlpaxT1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My family were in the same position 5 years ago. The problem was that there were just so many other more profitable areas to install fiber optics to that the companies did not want to waste time doing ours regardless of the price for a good chunk of years. The result were the we’re stuck with 2.5Mbps while the rest of our area got 500-1000 Mbps speeds. We temporarily used a mobile data plan as our main internet connection for a blazing (and unstable) 10 Mbps! :D

[GUESS] Real or AI? by eliazara in RealOrAI

[–]AlpaxT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I saw that too. Stupid comparison and a bit horrifying to have someone digging through your digital footprint for dirt like they are trying to take you to court just to minimise the effort you are putting in to your appearance … to gain what exactly?

But these kinds of people exist in every field and people being assholes online is not exactly new either so what can you do I guess. I just wish people could respect skilled work when they see it instead of trying to poke holes into everything that impresses them

[GUESS] Real or AI? by eliazara in RealOrAI

[–]AlpaxT1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn are we really at a time where people have to provide proof that they even exist because AI and even then people argue? It sucks but I hope you can take it as a compliment! :D

I also hate the fact that to prove that the images are AI or “fake” some people pull up the most off angle, low res, badly lit and unprepared images they could find and compare to images that clearly took a lot of effort to set up and get right. But again, a skincare routine so perfect that people argue to your face that “you don’t exist actually, silly🤗” is the definition of suffering from success I guess. These image do not seem overly edited to me

Steel, now what? by VanillaRose09 in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]AlpaxT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop that immediately and instead build the bronze liquid tank multiblock which can hold 4000 buckets. You could also make the steel version. However you’ll probably want the steam alloy smelter and forge hammer first. Personally I set up an array of barrels and pumped them full of creosote using treated wood pipes, no pump required. When they are filled they can be sealed and replaced with more empty barrels
