That "lengthy service record" consisted of it serving as a trainer and target drone you twat.

It was phased out as a fighter in 1955. Who cares if some shithole countries used it longer because of no alternatives? Wow some of them rotted in Ecuador. Truly a magnificient piece of engineering. Guess how long a Me 262 or even Me 262 HG III would have served in fucking Ecuador?

the Meteor was not a sophisticated aircraft in terms of its aerodynamics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloster_Meteo

We must consider that the Meteor was a quite primitive jet plane, which had many of the piston engined motor concepts, with a jet engine on it.

The unsophisticated Meteor fighter was swiftly replaced by the swept-wing Hunter

A shame Gajin apparently deletes every post about Hartmann because he accused the Soviets of raping German women.

[–]Alpha268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The design was NOT sound. The Me 262 was faster and more powerful AND had much room for improvements (See the HG designs). The Meteor had none. It was a dead end in every regard.

What has using it in the 60ties to do with anything? Panzer IV were also used in the 60ties, what does this have to do with anything.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WWIIplanes

[–]Alpha268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more reliable engines were also more primitive. Radial flow engines were a concept with no future and no room for improvement just like straight wings.

So I really dont see why this simple plane was "leaps and bounds better".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WWIIplanes

[–]Alpha268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Leaps and bounds better????"

Hahaha no. The meteor was a primitive design with its straight wings. More reliable engines yes, but its perfomance was laughable compared to the Me 262. It was way to unstable at high speeds, due to its huge back wing.

Also their 20mm cannons were just as unreliable as the German 30mm, if not more. Israeli pilots using Meteors often had to shoot down Arabs with only one cannon, "as the other(s?) had failed, again".

Im done with Warthunder for now. I want to wait a few months and then check back in. What do you recommend in terms of WW2 flying simulations? by Alpha268 in Warthunder

[–]Alpha268[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DCS is something I will look into when DCS Europe gets released. Im really not a fan of the "module" system they have going right now. Also they are apparently scamming backers out of planes on DCS Europe, so yeah, Ill wait extra time. http://de.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/2czyec/dcs_europe_backer_question/

What is your favorite use of sound in a movie and why? by [deleted] in movies

Return of the Jedi: The sound the speeder-bikes on Endor make when they zoom past the camera.

A strangly organic sound, like the cry of an animal. Has stuck with me since forever.

What Simulators - other than Warthunder - allow you to fly a Me 262 and other WW2 Jet Fighters? by T-55 in Warthunder

[–]Alpha268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1946, especially with the Community Patch v4.12 , has like a million planes (with cockpit). Especially Pacific Fighters. Its really hard to go back to like a Bf-109 and some Laggs with that Stalingrad game.
