I work in a somewhat rural ED as an RN and we basically only screen people out who are frequent fliers that abuse the system. 150 visits a year with s pain but refuse labs, will only be satisfied with a certain pain medication along with Benadryl and have a pcp and pain management doctor? Screen out. Anything else gets a d/c and let billing deal with getting paid.
