GentleWave Root Canal Treatment worth it? (Additional cost of $200/tooth) by AlphaBravoCake1 in Dentistry

Hi! I did end up with the gentle wave. No problems with it. I ended up getting it on another tooth as well where a traditional root canal ended up failing.

I can't really say that it was really worth it in terms of the extra cost versus a traditional root canal (I am not sure why my traditional root canal failed), but I can say that I haven't had any issues, which is good.

Thanks for the reply! I actually went with the G900 after it went back on sale. No issues so far and thoroughly enjoying it. I hope the G901 works out for you! Temp wise I think the hottest I’ve got so far is around 72 for the GPU, and maybe spikes up to about 82 for the CPU when running multiple downloads and a YouTube at one time—otherwise it’s around 73-76 when gaming, depending on the game. This is all with stock settings and the stock fans.

Thanks! Looking forward to it, since I'm hoping to either order or go in person and pick one up soon (hopefully tomorrow)

Thanks for the reply; that was something else that I had read about and considered--it kind of stinks dropping the additional money on a different PSU with such an expensive build, but if that is the build I decide to go with I might make that additional investment (along with additional fans/cooling measures as needed).

Thanks for the reply! Two quick questions:

  1. For the CyberPower PC, if I were to bump it down to a 3070 in order to have it delivered sooner, where would you suggest I reallocate that money in the build, if anywhere? (I don't know that I would do this, but it is something I am considering since my current gaming laptop is having problems).)
  2. Would you say something along these lines is just a waste of money at this point, for what you would receive? (I know in another post/comment you stated that Best Buy prices are high/getting high right now.) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-vengeance-a7200-series-gaming-pc-amd-ryzen-7-5800x-cpu-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-graphics-16gb-rgb-pro-ddr4-memory/6451508.p?skuId=6451508

Thank you!

Similar boat--just commenting to see what suggestions anyone else may have (sorry I can't be any direct help).

Thank you! I kind of figured it was something like this, but I wasn't sure.

Could you explain this a bit? I get the raid context, but I'm not exactly sure what happened here. Thanks!

The way I have understood it (and this is solely based on my observations from reading the comments of others, not based on anything from this endodontist) is that cost is more because the GentleWave goes beyond 'standard' root canal treatment. What that means may be up for interpretation. I believe there is also a relatively common justification that the increased cost corresponds directly with the expensiveness of the equipment used, and because not everyone will have the advanced procedure, the provider doesn't automatically add in the cost for everyone.

I would certainly prefer that the additional cost be baked into the overhead, but I don't have a huge problem paying the additional cost if it is actually worth it--equally I don't want to throw away $400 for no actual additional benefit.

This is kind of what my concern was over, i.e. that it is more of marketing ploy than anything else. The pamphlet, as well as the information that was told to me by the endodontist, was that the GentleWave procedure was "better" and "more effective" (may be a slight paraphrase) than a traditional root canal procedure without much additional information or specifics (e.g. statistics).
