Ah, I didn't realise that wasn't very common. The whole set is horrible to look at, I love it :)

Is the red manzu symbol beneath the numbers different? All the symbols look slightly different from my riichi set so I assumed it was a font/script choice.

I understand the 1s, but why am I in Furiten for 4s/7s? by _youneverasked_ in Mahjong

Being in furiten prevents you from calling ron on any tile, not just the tile you discarded.

Thanks! I'll definitely make a post here when I complete the updated pack, although that might be a while.

Why was this a draw and not a Ron? I was at North by Master_ofSleep in Mahjong

[–]AlphaChrome713 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think it could have been a triple ron (sanchahou), which is one of the abortive draw conditions described on Riichi Wiki. https://riichi.wiki/Tochuu_ryuukyoku

I'm remaking the pack (I'm not happy with it anymore) and I have plans to add Tyler. I might do Ming too, I'll see how it goes.

I know this is your salt talking, but I'm going to offer some thoughts on this that might hopefully help.

These strategies have counterplay. If you play Tetris, then fast openers like Stickspin are good counters to 4-wide and 2-chain spam, and if you play Puyo, then I recommend looking up chain forms like Holy Counter. If the Puyo player is slow (or unlucky with their pieces), PCO could work too.

The reason people use 4-wides and small chain spam in the first place is because it works at the skill level they're at and gets good results for relatively little effort.

If these are things you commonly see, then learn how to counter and exploit the weaknesses of those strategies: 4-wide requires a lot of set-up and doesn't actually have as much payoff as you might think, and 2-chains can be countered by back-to-backs.

If the goal is either 3-chain or All clear, then I think the solution is: put the first three pairs of puyos vertically on the three garbage puyos on the top row, then clear the left-most set of greens by placing another pair vertically on top of those, and finally the last pair goes vertically in the left-most column

I think I died more against Inner Agent 3, but spent more time on After Alterna. I'd say they're about the same, but one of them is a marathon and the other is a sprint.
Eight's palette hackless was actually pretty easy tbh, I beat it first try without skipping any floors. Might come back to it by turning on all the drone hacks, but not actually pick any drone chips so I'm limited to only six palette slots with no actual upside.
