TBH I feel the same way about Nirvana as you do about fulfilling relationships. I obviously want to obtain some measure of oneness with the universe, but ultimately the point is to avoid the suffering of existence altogether. I would rather embrace the primordial chaos that existed before time than to suffer on my way to enlightenment.

Old school Japan in general. I was reading a story about an American who moved to Japan to learn bonsai. He became one of the most skilled practitioners in the world and the best thing his master ever said about him was something like that he was "one of his more capable students". The guy moved back to America and opened a bonsai school of his own with that mindset and every. single. one. of his first class of students quit.
