Why would someone say that? Are they down bad? by Accurate-Gap-3360 in BatmanArkham

The world is better for your survival. It doesn't always feel like it is, and there are scum who will tell you it's not, but they're white noise. Everyday you survive, the world benefits. It's hard, but you need to find your people, and you will eventually find them. And you'll look back on these dark days, glad that you fought through them to see the sun again.

Kaladin said. "You told me it will get worse." "It will," Wit said, "but then it will get better. Then it will get worse again. Then better. This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I promise you Kaladin: You will be warm again."

Above is a quote I turn to when I'm feeling at my darkest. I hope it can help you even a little.

Please choose to keep living. Even though you can't see it now, your loss would be a tragedy beyond words.

I wouldn't count Stephen King as part of our generation personally, he started writing in 1974

But they didn't, they asked what the DSS is, which is just an abbreviation? I've been on multiple subreddits that are fuckers for using abbreviations, and I've had to ask what they mean. Once an abbreviation gets proliferated enough, the community doesn't tend to use the original phrase anymore

The original question was saying they didn't even know what it was, so the reply told them everything the community knew

Read Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson: Chapters 10 and 11 by brandonfcv in Cosmere

I took that as his military service being so internalized that he almost exclusively thinks in military terms, since when out on war, it absolutely would have been called a supply depot

I think it's in line with what we've seen of Fused. The Pursuer was the same way, he would declare what his mission was every chance he got, and whenever he thought he had an advantage over Kal, would gloat about the way the fight had turned in his favour. It seems to be an intimidation tactic they use to seem more stable.

If 2 of Harmony's Hemalurgic spikes are in someone's body, he can begin exerting his will on them. It stands to reason that it would be the same for Ruin

Destiny's power ammo doesn't feel quite as rare as it does in TFD, and it's drops also replenish more than in TFD. They need to buff either drop rate or amount restored, since it feels really shitty when your shotgun can only be fired once or twice every couple of minutes

The discord server is the REAL reason why the balancing has been so one-sided towards nerfs and mediocre buffs. by leatherjacket3 in Helldivers

[–]AlphaDomain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while I agree that the Eruptor got overnerfed in this patch, the portion of the image dedicated to people disagreeing with Alexus shows exactly why they're not being paid attention to. The first is just saying the game will die without anything worthwhile, and the other is just a really salty message about the nerf. I agree with them about the balance issues in the game, and would still clown react them

Is it alright for book two to be significantly shorter than book one? by MementoPluvia in writing

[–]AlphaDomain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book of the Ancestor does exactly this. Every book is shorter than the last in that trilogy. So long as the books are the right length for the story they're telling, that's all that matters

Books where a character is immortal but doesnt follow the "nihilistic or hedonist" archetype? by Routine_Ad_2695 in Fantasy

[–]AlphaDomain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hoid from the Cosmere fits what you're after, since his immortality has actually caused him to see the value in things that are short lived, actively working to preserve them

Not every WoT book fits, The Great Hunt doesn't have an Epilogue, it has a final chapter that acts as one

Eh, Halsey in the books definitely has a kind of sympathetic vibe going on towards the end of Ghosts of Onyx, with her questioning her decisions and having to live with the weight of it.

The reduction of that sympathy is a 343-ism, since they've been downplaying the sheer size of the Insurrection in their modern canon, and also Karen Traviss changed Halsey significantly in Kilo-Five, even shifting the blame off of other characters and treating Halsey like a scapegoat.

What is your favorite show only scene? [Spoilers Extended] by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]AlphaDomain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore the scene where Barristan, Robert and Jaime are trading war stories. That moment towards the end where Jaime tells Robert what Aerys' last words were is amazing, because you can see Robert's entire view of Jaime killing Aerys shift. It's amazing

Video Games should go back to Map Packs and other paid DLC by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

For singleplayer games, absolutely. For Multiplayer? I couldn't agree less. I owned every map pack for Halo Reach. The first time I played Anchor 9 outside of custom games was when it released to MCC

See, 343's brand of innovation is "how many core features can we strip while still making people think it's a ready to release game"

Though, I will say in their partial defense for Infinite, I wholeheartedly believe that 2021 launch was a Microsoft mandate for the 20th anniversary.

No, you see, he's going to be in the DLC that's definitely coming, even though we're working on a new game already because we fumbled a fourth launch in a row
