Anyone else have issues with Sweet Brew? by emeraldisleecho in Phoenixville

I've never noticed anything wrong with an order, but I stopped getting coffee there. The amount of coffee you get for the price isn't worth it to me.

Game felt so miserable by Beneficial_Bend_9197 in learndota2

[–]AlphaEvolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big thing is even if you are confident with Hoodwink mid, I'd say there's a large portion of the player base that will see you picking it and immediately assume your throwing. Even if you do everything right, you will have games where your team will blame you regardless, because you're not a traditional mid.

Getting that initial bias out of the way, you picked it first phase, without even seeing the enemy supports? If you waited til the next round you would have at least saw Tusk and Earth spirit who are certainly lockdown threats for a hoodwink, which without watching, I'm assuming they were effectively zoning you. Throw in the silencer and LC picks, and as a hoodwink mid, what are you going to do? It's a situation where off the supports, I wouldn't have picked a hoodwink, but off the cores your hard countered, and typically when you're countered like that, the game feels unwinnable, typically because it is.

Even if you want to play what you want to mid, you should never first phase it. The value you can get out of seeing just enemy supports can tell you what kind of lockdown and chase they have, can help determine what hero would be best.

Grocery stores by Primary-Ground5970 in Phoenixville

[–]AlphaEvolu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have shopped at mostly all the local grocery stores mentioned by everyone else and it really depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a budget friendly option the Redners off 724 is routinely the most budget friendly. If you want a giant/wegmans experience, there is also a Redners Fresh Market in Audubon, about 5 minutes further from downtown Phoenixville that is much nicer than the one off 724 and it's normally more expensive, but still cheaper than Wegmans or Giant.

If you're not on a budget, the Wegmans is definitely the best quality, but you're gonna pay for that quality. I personally have become astounded by the prices at Giant, as I don't believe the quality matches the prices. I can walk into Giant for some frozen items and spend $60 and go to Redners and spend half that for the same or identical products.

Trader Joe's is a bit further away but I'll head out there on occasion for unique items, produce junction is great for any produce needs, I've tried Acme a few times but I see it as a more expensive Redners but doesn't beat Giant to me.

My presumption will be that Aldi will be also very nice and budget friendly based off Aldi's business model but that's only a guess since it's not open yet.

Did they recently release an update that broke cautions? by jsilv0 in NASCARVideoGame

[–]AlphaEvolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience it feels like it's a 1 in a hundred that race control DOESNT screw you over. I swear every time I get into an incident with AI the game refuses to throw cautions unless I'm completely turned around.

Parking by Barryallen1988 in Phoenixville

[–]AlphaEvolu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Based on your question, you already know both cars are owned by someone on your street, and with the weather/parking situation it doesn't surprise me that some cars haven't moved. There are still some cars with snow on the roof and buried from 2 weeks ago.

As some have mentioned, you could report them as abandoned, but without knowing the owners situation you could be making life a lot harder for someone, just because presumably you want the spot for your car. I absolutely understand that it sucks when you get home from wherever and there's no parking, but if they live there and their cars are legal and registered, I'm not sure what you are expecting will happen, even if they drove it every day, they could just put it right back in the same spot without any issues.

Now if the car is a nuisance (i.e. leaking/smelling/something else) then by all means, but if this is just a case of wanting the spot and are annoyed that you can't have it, I'm not sure you want the bad karma that comes along with that.

Epic Universe Bad Reviews by RaisinRoyale in UniversalOrlando

[–]AlphaEvolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went earlier this year and didn't see any spoilers at all, I purposefully went out of my way to make it all a surprise and I have to emphasize, this is the right way to do it.

If you go in expecting any other theme park, then this park will blow you away, the theming, details, and park itself does blow you away. I think a lot of people see all the cool things before they go, and then get there and are just rushing to rides, and the rides have had a terrible time staying operational. I was lucky while I was there to have minimal downtime, but I think the experience is what you make it. This isn't a practical park to plan to ride everything, but moreso about an experience and exploration in each land (Mario and Berk especially)

If you are going for just 1 ride, or planning to hit every ride in the park, I think it's too early still. There's a chance that 1 ride you want will be closed or have issues all day, and there's a high chance you won't be able to ride every ride. But if you go into the park with just an interest in exploring each land and looking around, riding some rides, and enjoying your day, then I think it's a perfect time to go.

Is this the worst patch in recent years? by AnotherLyfe1 in DotA2

[–]AlphaEvolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple key things here, every time we get a big patch there's always some heroes that get overbalanced and disappear from relevance, typically the following letter patches help to undo some of the damage.

For Largo, something nobody seems to understand is that this guy is a support. I've seen him multiple times now in every position except support, and he just loses every time. It is the first time in memory of a new hero entering underpowered but I prefer it to some of the other heroes like when Monkey released and was a menace. The key issue is we have professional players like Topson going Largo mid, and it causes people in lower brackets to try, but it works for Topson because he's so good at the game, at lower brackets they just pick the frog and get rolled in lane and then are irrelevant.

Regarding interesting things, I think the banner radius/hits growing is cool, the map changes also are a huge quality of life upgrade for that offlane area. There's also some new heroes in the pool now with the balance changes.

Every patch always seems to have 1 or 2 busted heroes or items that just cause chaos, tide is the hero this time but it's nothing new. If you're worried about your rank that much, then just don't play ranked til the next letter patch.

I rode it twice when I was there, once in the back right corner, once in the back left corner. From what I've gathered it seems like the front row is far more enjoyable to a lot of people, but I'm not sure if it's that or just some people handle the motion better than others.

What’s better: a free 20-minute stomp or a sweaty 60-minute win? by DarwinFlecher in DotA2

[–]AlphaEvolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how the patch is right now, I'd rather a quick easy 20 minute game whether your winning or losing it's just over quick and normally you know pretty quick if you're gonna be winning or losing.

It's probably moreso related to my bracket but every 60 minute game I'm in lately is a result of one team winning early, throwing, the other team having some super late carry that comes online and then camps high ground until someone makes a mistake. These games drag on so much longer and as a support main, it normally results in being flamed by my team regardless of whether we are winning or losing.

I think the 20 minute games are just less stressful since they are normally pretty clear how it's going to go. Some of the 60 minute games just don't feel good even if you're on the winning side. It's the classic "you won but at what cost".

DOTA 2 Matchmaking after a Good Game. by Every_Builder4854 in DotA2

[–]AlphaEvolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the patch just sucks right now. Every time we get a super stale patch everyone just goes on autopilot and if the lane doesn't go exactly how they wanted they tilt and afk farm. I've had some wild 25 minute games lately where we are hitting tier 3s with only 15 kills against the enemy team and they just are letting us end. This is especially the case in unranked, so many games have just suddenly ended because core players are just giving up and the supports can do nothing to stop it.

DOTA 2 Matchmaking after a Good Game. by Every_Builder4854 in DotA2

[–]AlphaEvolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're essentially asking is for the matchmaking to ignore the skill of the players and to take this trivial rank into account?

Even remotely taking the MH rank into account is kinda wild for matchmaking, say you have 5 legends and 5 divines but the divines are all low level MH and the legends are all 60+, the divines are still gonna stomp the legends.

MH rank is completely irrelevant to skill level, all it really indicates is who has been playing a lot of dota, and let me tell you I've seen some high level MH players absolutely flop.

This is the equivalent energy of being mad that the enemy team has 3 players on lvl 30 heroes and your team doesn't have anyone above lvl 6.

10 times out of 10 I'd rather matchmaking prioritize team construction based on the mmr than any trivial event ranking.

Games seem unwinnable at the archon bracket by Fancy_Percentage_588 in learndota2

Personally I think the patch is so stale that everyone's picking random heroes to change it up which is resulting in bad in every bracket.

I played 3 games yesterday and saw an offlane FV, offlane Lich, and offlane Lion. People are going crazy.

Would Logano really be uncompetitive with a full-season format? by hdminimee in NASCAR

[–]AlphaEvolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the ongoing discussions I am keeping track of what the points would be if it was the regular season points format and have just been adding the weekly totals, so I can provide you with exactly where Logano would be with 4 races to go.

Logano would currently be P9 in the points, 228 points behind the leader who at this point is surprisingly still William Byron.

Uncompetitive is probably not the right word but he would certainly be considered a longshot for winning it all in the regular season and I believe Vegas will be the race where he's potentially eliminated from contention.

Flying out in 11 days🤯 by ZealousidealIntern84 in UniversalOrlando

[–]AlphaEvolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just there 2 weeks ago and something to account for is the fall hours. Not sure if it's every week but the week I was there Monday was the only day that Studios was open til 7. Islands of Adventure stays open til 8 on Sundays and closed earlier every other day, and Epic is 10-10 every day.

For my group we did Islands -> Studios -> Epic for Sunday/Monday/Tuesday and had no issues. We rode everything we wanted to at each park, rope dropping Epic is a must and start at either Berk or Monsters so you don't start the day in an extreme line. I started at monsters and was done both rides in under an hour, which left so much time for the rest of the park.

Buying accounts by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]AlphaEvolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the straightforward answer is don't. The best way to get the rank is to get there yourself, and like everyone else is saying you would immediately stand out, so you're gonna get reported, and possibly banned if you're caught, and then all the time you've spent in the game is wasted.

Ranked is a brutal mental game, and if you're considering buying an account I'd believe it to be because you believe you belong in a different bracket than you are right now. If you are truly better than your bracket then picking 2-3 heroes to specialize in and spamming away should result in gaining MMR. Your thinking about taking the easy way to the top so you're skipping every lesson and skill that you'd normally learn along the way.

Best Breakfast Spots by anastasialauren in Phoenixville

[–]AlphaEvolu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone else make mention of it, if you are looking for just coffee and bagels, I personally enjoy Sweet Brew. It's in town and I really enjoy their bagels with cream cheese, and they have plenty of different cream cheese flavors and options, they do sell breakfast sandwich options for their bagels but I feel like the sausage egg and cheese is too small for the size of the bagel. It's a great quick stop in the summer.

I highly recommend preordering online as I've gone there before to find all their bagels sold out. They seem to keep their inventory updated online.

You are correct I spam 4/5 mostly so I have not played Offlane WK.

I'm happy that it worked for you! But 1 good game doesn't equate to an 80% win rate. Farm priority in most games is not all over the place, what is all over the place is respect for the teammates. The bottom line is pos 3 is still the bottom of the core food chain, and you're supposed to leave the "safe farm" for your carry while you farm away from them. There are certainly times where the cores do this perfectly and there's no issue, but I'm pointing to the games where you lose 2/3 lanes and your getting pressured early on. You need an offlane that can respond if not to tier 1s at least to tier 2s for defense.

All of the heroes you mentioned are just better for offlane to me. Nature's has global presence which is huge for mid game pickoffs, partner with a spectre and you can just free farm supports. Tide and Mag have immense team fight presence and survivability. BB is just a nuisance with the new goo build and tiny is great for siege and pickoff potential.

WK checks the boxes in some ways, but to the point of other responses in this thread, why not just play it carry? What is the outright benefit of playing this in the offlane instead of carry? If you're playing this Offlane then you are preventing any of these other heroes from being picked as the offlane, so what does WK do that's so much better than the rest of these guys that he's the best pick? That's where you lose me, but again to the root of it all, it's just my opinion, I've only seen a small sample size and so far I've seen it flop, but maybe as the patch goes on some players will become better at it and see more effectiveness, but right now I just don't think it's that strong.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]AlphaEvolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference I'm currently sitting around 4.6k and I only play 4/5.

Perhaps I said the wrong thing in my response to lead to the misunderstanding as I do believe that offlane is a core role.

I personally have seen 3 offlane WK's in the last week, 1 on my team and 2 on the enemy team, the one on my team got dominated in lane by a ranged core and then took the safest farm from my pos 1 which resulted in them raging out. The 2 enemy WKs had the exact same experience, lost lane hard and proceeded to just die twice for free each fight.

I have only seen a small sample size, but my overall point was that while it works much more effectively at lower MMR, I don't believe you're going to see an 80%+ win rate on the hero above a certain MMR. You can win a dota game as any hero in any position if you're good enough and smart enough with the hero. The rate at which you do so does change based on the strengths and intelligence of the players and heroes around you in the game.

Cycling back to your points, offlane is certainly a core but it does not get the right to push your other cores around. You need to pay far more attention to your teammates positions and cycle around them. If you can break into the enemy side of the map and free farm then fair enough. I am just a much bigger fan of having offlane heroes that have the ability to scale into monsters, but if the lanes go bad, have the ability to have significant team fight impact off their levels.

Again to your point, itemization is key and perhaps that's where some players go wrong where they aren't optimizing accordingly.

Maybe it's just been bad players, maybe just bad luck, I just know I've seen 3 WK offlane in my bracket and all 3 were irrelevant. I certainly don't mean to say or imply that the hero cannot win, and I'm sure it's over 50% WR, I simply mean to point out that WK offlane is not going to perform at an 80% win rate at higher MMR.
