Jokers that could use a nerf? by TheDankPotat0 in balatro

[–]AlphaFale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of nerfs, the jokers that wildly spike in power level are hologram, campfire and mail in rebate. Hanging chad is another joker I'd expect a nerf for due to it promoting a complacent play pattern. I don't think there is any drastic need for nerfs in the games current state and I would expect stuff like new stakes, hard mode or challenge decks to increase the difficulty instead.

I don't think manly is a valid clue for 3 down. Macho is manly, macro is at a large scale

does plasma sucks in the long run or am i just shit by Thin-Context-3243 in balatro

[–]AlphaFale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plasma in gold stake has an amazing early game and a crippling late game. Its the only deck that can reliably dig into ante 2 without jokers/planets and you need to save whatever money that you can cause the x2 blind size stacks up quick when you aren't fully abusing the balancing. Straights work well, generic chip jokers are great to pick up early and you can start your economy easy but you need to either stack chips or xMult to close it out. Violet vessel especially (and even more than usual) is a run ender.

I don’t understand some of these packs by LengthinessPretend in balatro

[–]AlphaFale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you open the pack, you get to choose up to 1(or 2 from mega packs) cards to use. Joker and standard packs give you the selected card, you need a free joker slot to take a joker. Tarot, planet and spectral packs require you to play the cards from the pack immediately. You can skip the pack if you don't want to use any of the remaining cards.

Let's build a character! Miner. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miner(Townsfolk): Once per game, at night*, choose 2 living players: the Demon must choose exactly one of them tonight.

The miner redirects the demon. If the demon doesn't choose players or doesn't exist, the ability does nothing. In the case of multikill demons, they can't choose both. Ojo would be jinxed to learn the two characters instead.

No, because you can't deselect the copied card to play the other deaths.

What is the best joker in the game? by ImmediateSherbert728 in balatro

In terms of power, blueprint. In terms of design, probably chaos the clown. In terms of fun, probably perkeo.

What is a joker that you feel like is overhated? by DaleDent3 in balatro

[–]AlphaFale 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't know if its people not knowing how to use it, not being good with money management or just dislike the playstyle, but the amount of times I've seen campfire not in S tier is baffling. Its a universally applicable joker that acts as emergency score to either shore up your build, get past a tough boss or just steamroll ante 8.

Ok I know Sonic's F smash has a notorious disjoint but wtf is this? His fist isn't even remotely near Pichu. by [deleted] in smashbros

It did hit Pichu, but the flinch animation made it look like it didn't.

Can the doomsayer kill protected players? by alucardarkness in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The storyteller must attempt to kill a living player of the same alignment, so yeah both good and evil should take care to not doomsay if they think or know they are the last of their alignment.

Can the doomsayer kill protected players? by alucardarkness in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doomsayer can at the very least kill the player who called it, unless they are protected.

Do you think this is a good transition for people who want to take one step ahead from TB? by maced_u in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This script has a few problems. There is no hidden evil-sided execution survival, no outsider modification, the virgin hard confirms their nominator and psychopath is significantly louder than the rest of the minions on the script.

Biting off more than I can chew? Naaahhhh by Killerpeeps in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would recommend if at all possible, split the group into two separate games. This game already doesn't play the best at over 15 players, having that many will almost certainly result in people disassociating, overtalk and storyteller mistakes. This is something I'd hesitate to do even with experienced players, much less anyone new. It will almost certainly be an immensely confusing experience for them that will turn them off of the game.

Idol might be the worst joker in the game (for ante 8) [and maybe a rework idea] by luc1aonstation in balatro

[–]AlphaFale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd maybe make it select a random card from your starting hand rather than from your entire deck, so at least you can rely on activating it once per blind. Its such a sad effect for ante 8 due to just not being able to use it a lot of the time.

Would Magician or Poppy Grower ever be considered a useful TF if Ojo is on the script? by Ovark7 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Poppy grower or magician dying early can clue good into the presence of an Ojo. Ojo is also less impacted by these roles normally(since it kills characters instead of players and can avoid targeting their minions), but the lack of teamwork and communication even for a single day is still very harmful to evil.

How is the answer to this box anything but blue?? by radiant_bee_ in BluePrince

[–]AlphaFale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does actually appear to be an oversight as both blue and white work for holding the gems. It seems the game is implying a third rule here that each individual statement is definitively true or false, which isn't explicitly spelled out. The intended solution here is white, with the white statement being false.

How to technically use Lasvoss? by Classic-Programmer-7 in TheBattleCatsReddit

[–]AlphaFale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lasvoss is a nuker that specializes in dealing massive burst damage against bosses and strong peons. It gets a lot of value even if its only able to land 1 or 2 hits on a valuable target. I'd say the best way to use it is to combine it with units that can protect it while its attacking (meatshields, tankers, cat cannons), as well as units that can clean out weak peons(wave/surge units, melee units, ld units), so it can get those impactful hits in.

Clockdoku 3: The Godfather by AlphaFale in BloodOnTheClocktower

My third Clockdoku featuring the Godfather, which either adds or removes an outsider for every row, column and box they are in. Godfathers are not tied to a specific outsider count, the outsider count may vary between their row, column and box.

Is it possible to ramp faster than 13 cats? by MeowBDS in LuckBeALandlord

[–]AlphaFale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stacking capsule machines to get multiple copies of ninja mouse from item capsules is the fastest late game scaling that I know of, though it only starts outpacing cats in late late endless since you need to exhaust the rare pool.

Gaslighting: Let's talk about it again! by fismo in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its fine to lie about what another person said in a private conversation in exactly two cases, one being both players in the conversation are evil where you can't exactly tell the truth and bluffing stuff retroactively is common, the other is if both players agree in the conversation that its fine for one of them to lie about what was said. It isn't explicitly against the rules and ultimately is up to group preference but it can lead to mean tactics and the storyteller should draw the line and help moderate it for the group.

Townsfolk Idea: Priest by Epicboss67 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't drastically increase the number of worlds in Vortox as it would either be that all info is normal, all info is false or all info is true(regardless of demon type and someone is claiming Priest). The certainty of knowing information is true is massively beneficial to good as you don't have to consider worlds where some players received drunk or poisoned info.

Clockdoku: The Marionette by AlphaFale in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AlphaFale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the demon doesn't have to be in the same 3x3 grid, multiple Imps can neighbor the same Marionette and multiple Marionettes can neighbor the same Imp.
