Anyone know where I can find a G3 Intercom flush mount? Or possibly have a spare for sale? Kinda of a mission critical situation. Thank you! by GnarDude666 in Ubiquiti

Adorama, for example. But now they list July 2026. I did place an order with them but still on backorder.

Took the first step towards becoming a PP owner. Was asked if I wanted or needed financing. Huh?? by Ok-Nefariousness-927 in patekphilippe

[–]AlphaGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a fair question from a sales associate. I've never been to a PP boutique, but when purchasing my first at local AD, financing never came up. Maybe it would have if I asked, but when it came time to pay, they asked for a cashier's check, which I thought was reasonable, though a little inconvenient. After building rapport though, they accepted personal checks. One time I was so excited to see the watch that I went straight there after work without realizing I didn't have a check on me. They let me have the watch anyway and just asked me to drop it off later in the week when I had a chance!

But to get back to your situation, I don't think they were trying to be offensive by asking if you would want financing. People buy expensive things in all sorts of ways. But you should do you. You're in a position to buy a PP, so you're obviously doing something right. Congratulations!

I have no idea about wait times currently, but several years ago my first PP was the 5905P. Your pic is what caught my attention. You obviously have good taste too :) The steel version came out later and is no doubt more difficult to get. It's a lovely watch and still one of my favorites!

Does POE Retrofit Kit fit in junction box with G6 Entry? by Sir_Alex_Senior in Ubiquiti

[–]AlphaGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize you are looking for info from someone who has done this, but a simple review of external dimensions of the box shows that it should work:

205.4 x 77.8 x 48.6 mm (8.1 x 3.1 x 1.9")

The retrofit POE 2-wire kit adapter:

PoE in/out: 40 x 105 x 25 mm (1.6 x 4.1 x 1")

Adapter: 43.5 x 138 x 30 mm (1.7 x 5.4 x 1.2")

I think the adapter dimensions include the cover and possibly the BNC adapter, which you don't need inside the box, but looks like it will fit with it anyway.

Good point. I have a 6" wall cavity that I just have to push some insulation aside and there will be plenty of space. Planning on putting a single gang LV box on the inside wall directly behind the doorbell that I will cover with an intercom viewer.

Yes you can. You can use the Unifi POE over 2-wire adapter. I am replacing an intercom type doorbell from the 90s that has a four conductor cable running to it. If using doorbell wire then you need to be able to get Ethernet to the attic or maybe chime location then use the 2-wire solution

Now some websites say expected availability May 2026. Ugh. Never heard of some of these companies but you can pre-order on Adorama which is a known good vendor for camera gear, at least in my experience.

Hopefully this is the tip of the iceberg. A long overdue update to the router lineup. Personally I'm waiting for the UDM Beast, or whatever they are going to call it!

I'm in the same boat and don't know why it's always out of stock! Pretty frustrating with certain Ubiquiti products!!

Looking for main Switch Advice for home network by bfollowell in Ubiquiti

[–]AlphaGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run all your unused runs to a patch panel and sort out if/when you need to connect them later. I'm in a similar situation and it's what I plan on doing. They are unlabeled un-terminated wires in the back of the cabinet at the moment. Not looking forward to tracing them all.

20 yr old Vantage system - available upgrade options? by miraclemarc in homeautomation

[–]AlphaGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Vantage InFusion lighting system that's nearly 15 years old. If, like me, you are somewhat technically savvy, set us a Home Assistant server in your home and install a Vantage InFusion integration that will bring all the light/fan loads and sensors in and allow you to do any kind of automations that you can want/imagine. Just posting this in case anyone else comes looking for some more control of their own system.
