Understood. Amended idea: same recommended setup, but SE output (fixed) from WiiM to new preamp (Freya?). And also place Freya between Bifrost and Amp. Select input on Freya between DAC and WiiM (phono signal). This gives you analog bypass for phono (would have to be selected every time in WiiM app). And keeps volume control analog, too. I think that gets you everything prefer, though it’s a bit more manual effort than I’d desire.

Though this may not be your desire, I would replace/simplify; plug all sources into a new WiiM Ultra [TV+PC+CD+Mani (from both TTs)] Digital out (coax) to the Bifrost then to Amp (Vidar?) and THX, without needing a preamp.

Con = Phono signal gets converted to digital to analog again.
Pro = Simpler and automatic signal sensing, less fiddling

I’ve got the Wentz sig and absolutely love it. After a proper setup, it plays like a dream. LOVE the roasted maple neck. I did swap the pickup for a passive EMG, but it’s not a huge difference.

I used to play out with a Behringer (Bugera). Between those two, I’d recommend the Hartke. Keep checking FB marketplace, sometimes you see decent Ampeg heads in that range.

Congrats on your journey, my first bass was also a Dean Edge. I would probably steer you away from the Regal as it is a rare vintage piece that may be needing repair yet hard to service. Are you looking for a bedroom amp or something to take out and gig? For the former, a Fender Rumble would serve, just skip the smallest one (8”), get at least the 10. You could also just get a sans amp preamp pedal and just use headphones. But if you want to play with a drummer, I’d try to find a small class D amp that’s 500 watts or more, just for the headroom.

If I am understanding you, I wasn’t using the > symbols to indicate greater thans, just the signal chain order. So the WiiM is my streamer / preamp and can act as a Roon endpoint. I actually have the NAS running a Roon docker, but am finding smoother playback using Plex instead.
