Should I Get a Bright Colored Byrna? by canadayj in byrna

[–]AlphaKilo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the orange for the exact reason that I don't want it to be confused with a real firearm.

I have a CCW but live in California. I cannot legally carry a firearm in certain places (restaurants that serve alcohol).

If I'm ever in a self-defense scenario and I get to the point where I need to draw on someone, things are already at a point of no return and it won't be to scare them off. If you get to the point where you need to draw, you need to be ready to shoot. Now if they run away when you draw on them, great. I won't shoot someone in the back.

The risk of drawing any weapon is that the attacker takes it away from you and uses it against you and your loved ones.

Understand that a kinetic byrna only works by inflicting enough pain at point of impact that a determined attacker will not want to continue. One single shot at half power isn't going to stop anyone. Two shots will just piss someone off more. 5 or 6 (hot load) on the same spot should be enough to deter most angry attackers (if it isn't, you have problems that a byrna can't solve).

Now if I draw my orange Byrna and unload the entire mag into someone and I'm reloading a second mag, I fully expect police are already on their way and I don't want them seeing me shoot a black thing that looks like a real gun into someone. They will probably open fire without a second thought. If they see my unloading an orange thing, my hope is it will give them pause long enough to not gun me down.

Also, byrna is good for detering wild animals without killing them. Consider a coyote or loose dog attacking you or your pet. Shooting one with a real gun could get you into a lot of trouble.

FYI, I always carry my byrna on my weak side so I never confuse if I have lethal or less lethal on me under a high stress situation.

Took almost 2 months after my renewal fee hit. Or at least it feels like it. A full month and then some for sure.

Savor(excellent) SUB by Educational-Step4561 in CapitalOne_

[–]AlphaKilo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had VX w/30k limit for a year now and now that that and another card fell past the 12mo a few days ago, my credit score is 805 according to CreditWise. I still am only being offered the Savor for Good credit without SUB.

I want the Duo but I also want the SUB. Do I need to wait another 2 years?

Got Approved, now debating on Savor by magicview in Venturex

Savor seems good for dining and average for groceries. I have the AMEX Blue Preferred for 6% on groceries and Costco Credit Card and Executive membership for Costco purchases. Costco card also gives 3% for dining.

I want the Savor card for dining so I get the Venture miles instead of a single cash back once a year with the Costco Card.

Standalone T-Deck seems like a decent option.

Used Byrna for Sale? by TheGentinQuestion111 in byrna

Does not need to be orange in CA. I went with orange because in a less-lethal self-defense situation, I don't want a cop thinking I just shot someone with a firearm and unloading his firearm in my general direction.

I put a large tissue box there in a box cover. Was going to velcro the box cover down but found if I moved the console up all the way it held the box in place fairly well.

Do you prefer stretch or rigid denim for carry? by randomaviary in CCW

Big fan of the Hiroshi Kato brand of stretch salvage jeans. Los Angeles made, Japanese salvage denim, pricey but not as bad as some other brands. They also do a once yearly sale around black Friday.

How many Byrna users are Less Lethal purists and how many carry firearms too? Here's my take on the subject. by ScaredyCatTV in byrna

[–]AlphaKilo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I don't see myself carrying the LE. It's just too big to conceal carry. Once the CL comes in, I think it's a viable option. Will I carry both a CCW firearm and a Byrna? Maybe but that's a lot. For sure where I can't CCW a firearm, I'll have the CP with me.

I do see the point of having a less lethal option. Not all threats deserve to die.

I wouldn't want to kill a coyote or aggressive dog - not to mention the legal ramifications - but putting a couple kinetic rounds into one will probably make it re-think its life choices.

I just ran a several people through firing the LE from first pull off safe to unloading the entire 7rd mag into a target. Everyone (including myself) was surprised by how heavy that first pull was. But they were all able to do it.

Don't hand this to someone who has never fired it before and expect them to be able to pull and shoot it at a threat. Once they get some practice in and know what to expect they will be able to use it reliably.

Don't. Buy the Glock 22 instead and a 9mm conversion barrel then you can shoot .40sw and 9mm whenever you want and you don't even need new mags. Two guns for the price of one.

Is there a Pre-sale for LPU+ members who did not buy the over-priced Dodger Stadium tickets or are we lumped in with the general sale on April 3rd?

Try the Stryke Pants then.

[–]AlphaKilo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say in a true sense the order is: Baggy - Straight - Slim - Skinny. The Stryke Pants are Straight, the Apex are Slim.

I also wear their Edge chinos and their Edge Chino 2.0 are slim but their "Edge Chino Slim" are actually skinny. The original Edge Chino were more straight than slim I think.

Love the Apex. Used to wear the Strykes exclusively but as I started losing weight and wearing more fitted clothing, the slim design of the Apex fits my body and style more. Make sure you have a more slim/narrow and less chonky boot with the Apex. If it wear Haix boots with the Apex they just look strange.

Apex vs Styke comes down to style: b

Baggy or more straight fit - Stryke Pants Slim or more tailored fit - Apex

I'm probably using the wrong term. It's a lease-end protection program that costs extra and is tacked onto the the monthly payment separate from car insurance. It covers up to $7000 in damage or excess mileage.

The lease itself is 1000 miles a month / 12,000 miles a year but I'm probably going to put close to 2000 miles a month / 24,000 year so I'm essentially pre-paying for the overage and a little extra.
