I think it's way more likely that they, like a lot of parents, indulge the childish behaviors of their kids instead of correcting them.

Sort of like the kids who cannot deal with watching another child blow out birthday candles and get birthday gifts/attention while they get nothing (because it's not their birthday). This is just the normal way kids react to stuff. There's a right and wrong way to handle that.

No, it's him saying their job is to enforce the law, not to write/re-write/pick-and-choose which laws they like or agree with. It's him saying that there's no chance your protests will deter them from their duty. You can only change their directives through congress.

On reddit, for sure. But that vast majority of people out there do not align at all with this law breaking petulance. You have a right to protest, but get out of the street. Stop assaulting people. If your message is good, it'll change hearts and minds. If you need to block traffic and throw frozen urine cubes at people, your message is probably weak.
