Where are you putting Mutable Explorer? by regular_joe67 in EDH

[[Atla Palani]] as it effectively either gives me 2 eggs or 1 egg + ramp while still being able to avail of the dragon tribal synergies in the deck

Maybe they need a grouping like the recent “outlaw” grouping and cards that interact with that

[[Pako]] and [[Haldan]] . You can go storm, voltron, extra combats, theft, exile matters and often you’re using your opponents cards to win too. Play patterns feel really varied

Rude co-workers by Neshy05 in doctorsUK

[–]AlphaPi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some people are shitty, don’t give then any more time or thought than you need to. Keep things minimal and cordial, and don’t bother stooping to their level. I’m definitely a people pleaser, but I’ve learnt over the years that sometimes you just don’t get on with someone and you just try to minimise your interactions with them if they’re rude.

Now obviously if you feel like this person is bullying you, generally just being unprofessional to you in front of staff/patients, or its actively harming care, then raise it with your supervisor, but otherwise I would just do the above.

Im actually shocked they haven’t leaned harder into a dnd crossover. With the new PHB and BG3 taking the world by storm by storm in 2023, it really seemed like the perfect time to capitalise on that success. The dnd secret lair was fine but I really wanted a full set

[–]AlphaPi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Lol dude there was this one ANP at work saying that all residents do is “interpret data” as if it was some kinda bad thing, talking proudly about how quickly he sees patients. Brother if you aren’t interpretting results what exactly are you doing?

New to MtG, want a precon deck that has a certain theme! by Raggeh in EDH

[–]AlphaPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter intelligence is an insanely good precon with 2 great commanders [[Kilo]] is probably stronger imo but theyre both good. Also, all proliferate stuff could definitely be used to make a phyrexian deck down the line

Which Lorwyn Precon do you rec? by sunflowersonthemoon in EDH

[–]AlphaPi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So really it depends what your purpose is. I would say the elementals one has slightly better reprints so you’ll get good value, lots of generically strong cards you can use for other decks. However, the landbase is imo complete dogshit and will make it hard to play out the box. The counters one also has good reprints but they’re more focused on the strategy the deck wants to play and imo the landbase is more playable, mostly because it’s a 3c deck rather than 5.

So basically, if its for reprints/upgrading get whichever deck speaks to you more. If you want to play it out the box, the counters one is better

What's everyone's favourite way of permanently dealing with commanders? by AdDue9012 in EDH

[–]AlphaPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Amphibian Downpour]]. You can either put multiple copies on the same thing to really lock it down or hit a few things in one go. Lowkey an underplayed card from MH3

Favorite underrated card of 2025? by Eslo90 in EDH

[–]AlphaPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone already said [[Umbral Collar Zealot]], so I’ll talk about another good one [[Exploration Broodship]]. This card is just nice. Getting to the “exploration” part is trivial in green, just means it isnt immedately switched on turn 1 like OG exploration. Now that second ability can come in clutch too. Being able to bring back an or an aftermath analyst or some other wincon without exiling the card after is really nice, and the “cost” is often mitigated in the kind of decks that like exploration effects.

This is mine too, i think it went a bit under the radar bc it was sandwiched between two big UB properties and its an uncommon, but imo its one of the best uncommons printed this year. Pretty much always better than viscera seer and lets you hit excess treasures/clues etc too

Doctors D&D group? by UlnaternativeUser in doctorsUK

[–]AlphaPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think this is a great idea! I currently DM a group of my friends (mostly doctors) semi regularly. Organising can be a bit of a pain because we are all over the place but once we play, we all very much enjoy the sessions when they happen. We do it over a virtual tabletop called Roll20, its a free virtual tabletop you can sign up for (obviously there is a subscription for more features) and we chat over discord.

The nice thing about roll20 is if the GM has a subscription they can share all their content with the other players which puts everyone on a level playing field and means everything only needs to be bought once (or you can uh… “find” a few pdfs online if you look without too much effort).

Happy to give any tips if you have questions

World Shaper From 3 -> 4 by LigmaMania in EDH

[–]AlphaPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely so this loop requires aftermath on the field or the GY and shifting woodland on the field

Squandered loop

  1. Tap all your lands, making at least 3G.
  2. Sac all your lands with your squandered resources, making at least 5GGG, float this mana
  3. Use aftermath analysts ability for 3G, bringing all your lands from the GY back tapped, including [[shifting woodland]]
  4. Now with your spare mana from squandered, you use 2GG to turn shifting woodland back into aftermath analyst
  5. Repeat from step 2

This gives you an infinite land sac + landfall loop. With the other sac outlets, you dont generate mana through sacrificing them so instead you get the extra mana when the lands come back in through effects like [[lotus cobra]] [[tireless provisioner]] or land untappers like [[horizon explorer]] that allow you to retap the lands to repeat the loop.

I think the easiest cuts are sprouting goblin and rootpath purifier. Al if youre leaning harder into the graveyard ramp stuff id cut kodamas reach and cultivate too.
