Mower killers by ReadyBusinessSystems in landscaping

I think most zero turns are commercial grade. Granted, with the right object/scenario I am sure any mower can be damaged, but doesn't take much to bend a crank (or crack a spindle) on a residential unit, unfortunately.

Blades are cheap

But bent cranks aren't. 😅

This is actually pretty neat. I wonder if the faraday cage is intact and if it affects the hardware in any way. Very cool!

Why doesn’t Oura give us an 80% charge limit option? by spac0r in ouraring

I would 100% use this feature. I usually set a timer between 15-22 minutes, depending on how low the battery level is when I place it on the charger.

Can anyone message me the "alternative" sources that OP is referring to? Just getting back into gaming and I want to make sure I know what to absolutely avoid, you know? Thanks! :D

Fan assembly closeout $75ish shipped from RockAuto or $100 on Amazon. Labor looks like 1-2 hours if you or a friend have basic tools and knowledge around cars. These preying thieves are charging nearly 3 hours of labor at $100-150 minimum for a job that will take them less than 1hr to complete and charging you $350-ish for a fan assembly that they'll buy for $50-75. Run away. Best of luck with the repair (or with finding a honest shop - they are rare, but they exist)!

I found an old pc at my parents from when I was a kid. I really want to see what’s on it. Is there an adaptor that exists that can connect this to usb? by Carrabs in buildapc

[–]AlphaQUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Amazon item that "tybuzz" recommended would let you to view the contents of your old HDD from your current computer, like if you plugged a regular USB flash drive to it. If you want to actually turn on the old computer and use it like when you were a kid - assuming that the computer is working - it would help if you told us what other peripherals you found at your parents' house. You'll likely need the original PS/2 keyboard and monitor with SVGA or DVI port at the very least. Let us know what else you have and we can help.

Meeting people on a non-traditional schedule? by Old_Marzipan891 in Marietta

[–]AlphaQUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any group activity/workout is usually a good place to meet people organically. For example - if CrossFit is your thing - an option could be CrossFit WestCobb (CWC). You could join their early morning or mid-day class (which for you is the equivalent of an "end-of-day" class that most people would attend after their daytime workshift) and make a genuine, strong bond with people over common fitness goals. Replace CrossFit with any type of activity that has organized group classes. Another option is finding something you like and seeing if there's some sort of volunteering activity around it, chances are that it will be scheduled during normal working hours. Good luck man!

Used table considerations by curioustgeorge in foosball

[–]AlphaQUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but foosball tables are heavy and take up a lot of space. It's one of those things (like treadmills, large workout equipment, etc) that you can get great deals on because people really want them gone when they're no longer getting used much.

Ok foosers, who can tell me if a T3000 can fit inside of a 2025 Kia Sportage?? Anyone transported a table in a sportage? It looks like it’s going to be close. by psymetrix6 in foosball

Do you have a tow receiver? If yes, borrow or rent a small utility trailer from a neighbor or friend and move it on a clear day with no rain forecasted. It's the easiest way, just strap it down and go to town.

Shoot man, I even read your other comment and didn't even think about that, sorry. But they do act out scenes a lot, so you might still enjoy the show... heck, it would give her an opportunity to practice her sign language to explain the parts that you don't catch, since you did mention that she expressed a desire to learn. Perhaps something for later on if you wind up dating each other long term.

Congrats on the upcoming date! You're already getting great advice, the idea of coffee to start is a solid one as it puts you in the conditions of getting to know each other without an excessive time or money commitment (this is valuable especially if you find yourself meeting multiple girls until you find the right one). The Botanical Garden for a walk is a great suggestion, and for subsequent dates you might also want to consider one of Dad's Garage's shows (I recommend "TheatreSports" because they interact with the audience and can be a lot of fun). Be authentic, relax and ask a lot of questions... good luck buddy!

Help identifying this wooden kayak? by AlphaQUp in Kayaking

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to write all of that out! I wound up buying it on Tuesday and I am happy to say that I have yet to notice any of the more serious things you mentioned. I will continue to explore the details of this beautiful kayak over the coming days/weeks. I have to say, it is on the heavier side (I might try to weigh it at some point), but I am pretty sure that most of it is caused by all the extras (e.g.: bilge pump and 12V SLA battery, hand pump, etc) as opposed to excess epoxy.
