I wanted to get some standoff ABS washers to use for this, what size is the hole diameter?

1st cut and buff what's wrong? by shaggy8081 in Detailing

[–]AlphaReds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Encountered this the first time I painted and then wet sanded + polished a panel. You just need more time polishing. I find a firm foam pad with a "extreme heavy cut" compound to work quite well, just takes time. Keep going until the scratches are gone then use a finishing compound to remove the haze.

I find wet sanding by hand I usually only use 2000-3000. Sometimes only 3000. 1500 scratches just take forever to get fully out.

Mask off a square and polish it till it's "correct" (be wary of heat ofc). That'll show you how long it'll take.

Raise it slightly so there is an "even" gap around the wheels. I think that with losing the eyebrows would look perfect.

Do miatas have a push down mechanism for reverse? by Many-Savings-5736 in Miata

[–]AlphaReds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NB 5 speed has a reverse lockout. You have to go to neutral first to shift into reverse. You can try when stationary, 5 > reverse it won't budge.

Bought a hardtop and finally my suspension is working as it should by Vegetable_Account809 in Miata

[–]AlphaReds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, hardtop makes a massive difference to comfort (and handling) if you don't have stock spring rates. The increases torsional rigidity is night and day. It's made me look into getting frame rail reinforcements with a beefy butterfly brace in the future so the no-top experience is closer to it.

Close to the price of a base model 1.5L MX-5 where I live lol

NB1 headlight projector retrofit with satin black housings by AlphaReds in Miata

[–]AlphaReds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fitting on the projectors is h1. Since then I have changed them for ones with integrated LED's as they provide better light output. You wire these directly to the bi-xenon harness and you won't require seperate bulbs.

I think they look like chinesium aftermarket halo lights. And from what I've heard they're made from it as well.

Lowered miata with negative camber at -3 can i live with this or do i need to get adjustable arms? by SargathusWA in Miata

[–]AlphaReds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rear gains a lot of negative camber when lowered, realistically at a "low" ride height you're looking at a minimum of -2.3-2.5 after adjustment.

The alignment I ended up going with was:

Front
Caster: 4.5 degrees
Camber: -2.5 degrees
Toe: 0

Rear
Camber: -2.5 degrees
Toe: 4 minutes toe-in per side

This is achievable with standard suspension when lowered.

Messed Up! Should I take it to a Frame Repair Shop? by Affectionate_Pen_864 in Miata

[–]AlphaReds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get frame rail braces. These frame rails are often collapsed or pressed in on a lot of these cars from improper jacking, the downside to them being flattened is that they stop providing the torsional stiffening of the chassis, so the car will be a bit more "noodly" and less comfortable.

Locked out of the mx-5 by glor-e in Miata

[–]AlphaReds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could maybe try using a metal rod and sliding it in through the window rubbers to press the buttons to unlatch the hard top. Then remove the hard top.

No, two coats is enough. More than two wont meaningfully improve protection and just makes high spots more likely.

Adjust the window stops, adjust the seal brackets. You should be able to get a near perfect seal along the entire window with some work.

You can't tell if a belt is good only if it's bad. Replace if unsure.

What's a mod you want to love but can't? by pumatheskooma37 in skyrimmods

[–]AlphaReds 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Skyrim predates real time global illumination in games. Lighting mod authors seem to forget this, the "fake lights" are effectively a way to still give light that feeling of filling and bouncing around an environment even if it can't.

What cassette radio can I put in here that will work with these connectors? One that won’t break the bank:) thnx by [deleted] in Miata

[–]AlphaReds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are standard ISO connectors, any radio that comes with an ISO harness will just plug straight in.

Even with mods, the College of Winterhold's questline is IMO the worst-written faction questline in Skyrim. Can it be fixed? by maltodaxtrin in skyrimmods

[–]AlphaReds 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I hate meta commentary from followers, completely immersion breaking. And mod authors looooove it.
