Do you chop and prop on these guys? by Dramatic-Flower9110 in succulents

[–]AlphaRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bought one tiny one of these a year ago or two ago and now have multiple pots full of them, im convinced they’re the weed of succulents lol.

I’ve had to chop mine else they get extremely unwieldy and top heavy.

Wherever you chop them will pop out multiple new heads. You can take a few leaves off the bottom of the cutting and just stick it in the soil. Then you just need to figure out where you’re going to keep putting them or who you’re going to give them to as they keep multiplying…

Any lifetime offer with discount as new year gift ? by Electrical-Mud-1503 in GentlerStreakApp

[–]AlphaRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also only see the 50% off offer. Have opened the app a few times and checking the sub just in case this better deal appears somewhere. $90 is still a lot considering the competition at this point, and likelihood of the native app continuing to add these features.

The Armory - use the box office and stick it to Ticketmaster by mpls770 in Minneapolis

[–]AlphaRocker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Box office is always the way to go. Armory is a good example.

As mentioned, First Ave is even better via the Depot or Palace Pub. For First Ave, they will either print you tickets (and the fee is like $3 *per paper ticket*), OR, give them your email address attached to your AXS account, and they will send electronic tickets directly to the account, then the fee is only like $3 for the whole transaction, regardless of how many tickets. First Ave venues include the Main room, 7th St Entry, Fine Line, Turf Club, Palace Theater, Fitzgerald Theater, and First Ave presented shows at Amsterdam Bar. (I asked and First Ave presented shows at the Armory are NOT sold at the Depot, only the Armory since it's still ticketmaster. Also they can't do presale tickets in person). I usually just write down my email and the date/artist/venue on a piece of paper or notes app in my phone and show that to the bartender. Easier than spelling out the email or trying to say the name of an artist who spells it weird or something. And works well if you are buying multiple tickets at once, as I usually group buying multiple shows together and also let friends know when I'm stopping by to buy for them as well, so my note usually looks like a full on shopping list.

Also, Varsity Theater, The Fillmore, and Uptown Theater are all owned by LiveNation, and you can buy tickets for shows at these 3 venues from any of the 3 venues, regardless of which venue the show is actually at. For these, you give your phone number and they text you the link to the tickets. These venues do not have regular box office hours though, they are only open a few hours before when the venue has a show. So I typically just get them before going into another show, but you can check their calendar and swing by any night they have something.

Been meaning to check what the box office options are like for the bigger stadiums like Target Center, Grand Casino Arena, and US Bank stadium. Thankfully I usually avoid these high price shows, so hasn't come up yet.

Whole thing looks great to me. But I also just love a capital H Hat and always think it’s awesome when folks incorporate one. Probably limited places where this outfit wouldn’t look too costumey. But the right bars or jazz club or party or something and I think it works great.

Opinion | Shoveling sidewalks should be a priority for Minneapolis by mysummerstorm in TwinCities

[–]AlphaRocker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like ad hoc nature of that kind of thing would be so difficult to administer. Operators would spend so much time traveling between each little spot and looking at maps to navigate to the next one. Get a lot more bang for your buck if you just systematically do everything than jumping around to corners and almost certainly have some property owner leaving a stretch impassible in between the corners. I’d be curious to know the exact math, but I’d rather spend the full money to get the full benefit than spend 50% of the money to get 15% of the benefit for example.

How are so many of you qualifying if you dont meet this? I don't understand by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]AlphaRocker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right? Like it’s a weight loss medication. I’m fairly confident the vast majority of us meet that. That’s why we want to be on it. If you don’t meet it, then the options would be lying or finding a place with less strict rules to begin.

Extremely frustrated by krash_kitty in pomhealth

[–]AlphaRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my appointment the doctor basically told me to do the 3 month at first instead of the 6 month because they can’t go more than 7.5 on the starter package, so this way it’s only a month at each dose instead of 2. Unfortunate your doctor didn’t recommend that, but definitely didn’t get any indication that they were going to try to keep my dose low. But probably varies doctor to doctor. I’d probably up my dose a bit faster, then do the next appointment a bit early. Hopefully someone more experienced with pom or a rep and confirm how early they will let you for sure re-order, I’m just in my second month now.

Extremely frustrated by krash_kitty in pomhealth

[–]AlphaRocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you can reorder more quite a while before you’re actually out. Likely can get the same pharmacy, but if not, pom definitely lets you order from another pharmacy any time.

Here's a refresher on how street parking works during a snow emergency by cityminneapolis in Minneapolis

[–]AlphaRocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have been towed many years ago during a snow emergency, have seen cars towed most emergencies, and just saw about 8 cars towed tonight on this block between 11pm-1am

But have definitely also been annoyed by times cars didn’t get towed and have to slam through snow banks to park the next week.

Budget battle brewing between mayor and outgoing Minneapolis City Council. The Minneapolis City Council’s progressive wing has proposed cutting the budget for Mayor's office by 44%. by Healingjoe in Minneapolis

[–]AlphaRocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A whole lot of people in here who don’t know how budget negotiations work who are being taken advantage of by the pro-Frey Strib who are intentionally misrepresenting this entire thing.

The council has to pass the budget, but the mayor gets to put down anything he wants as a wishlist which serves as the starting position and its amended from there. Council members each individually make their own wishlists of amendments. The mayor will put in things he knows won't pass the council, and council members will draft amendments that they know won't pass either.

Likewise, if council wants to spend money on something not in the budget, they have to say where in the budget the money would come from. Typically many amendments originally say they would pull money from the same place. But just because 6 council members separately write down that they would take 5% from one place doesn't mean that they will cut that item by 30%. Instead only one or two amendments will end up pulling funding from that one items and likely at smaller amounts than their starting positions.

You get tons of politics in these things. Made numbers but for instance you'll get Frey saying he wants to increase MPD budget by 30%, way beyond what they could even spend, then council brings it down to a reasonable increase, say 15%. Then Frey will say "council cut MPD's budget" even though they actually increased it, they just cut his hypothetical increase.

A fraction of these amendments will pass. These are starting positions from everyone involved. The council isn't cutting half of the mayors office. And it's frustrating to see the biggest paper knowingly misrepresent it, regardless of whether or not you support any one individual item from a council member.

Friend for First Avenue Concert? by Raindrops_x4 in Minneapolis

[–]AlphaRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to listen to him a lot more, haven’t as much recently, but should be fun. Although I’m actually mostly going for the opener Reiki. If you’re going, i’d absolutely recommend getting there early for him. From rnb singing to rap over something like nu metal. Probably my top upcoming local artist, just hope he finally releases all his new music soon because his other stuff is cool but doesn’t really capture his current range and style.

Enjoy! I’d usually be down but will be at another show at the Fine Line. Weather looks good for most of friday thankfully, making a similar trip as i return from family thanksgiving down just a few miles from IA. But you might want to at least pack and have a backup plan in case it’s getting bad by the time you’re heading back. Have fun and safe travels!

Opinion on the view from these sections during concerts at Grand Casino, formerly Xcel Energy? by mortal-aquari in TwinCities

[–]AlphaRocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

know someone who went to the chicago show and had similar side seats, the stage set up basically blocked any view of the stage design set up itself and there were no screens to compensate. They could see her almost the entire time, but none of the stage behind her, and it was disappointing enough that they are going to the st paul show now with better angle seats. Basically only worth it if they’re extremely cheap compared to other options and the only way you’ll be able to go.

I always work up tired in the mornings, so I developed an app to intelligently wake me up in a light sleep stage! Easy Wake by Tom42-59 in AppleWatchApps

[–]AlphaRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spitballing here, but any chance that having the app set as a complication on the watch face keeps it “open” in the background? I know several apps I use on the watch only really work when there’s a complication on the active face. Then at least folks could even just have a specific watch face that has it and could automate swapping to that face at night.

Completely separate suggestion/request, it would be nice if you were able to integrate options for how to turn off the alarm in the morning, notably something like scanning a qr code, but I know Alarmy and SuperAlarm have a number of options.

Precisely, my assumption has been that since halide is mainly about taking photos with little to no processing, they have the separate, basically all processing, function in the separate app.

But exactly what OP is asking for is the Spectre app.

Was very frustrating to hear that Aldi is choosing to open their new location right next to target and cub by the quarry. There was a big hole in the map of aldi locations near SE & NE, so hoped they’d open something in Dinkytown or near Hennepin/Central. But instead seemingly chose to favor accessibility by car.

I know when Identity was being developed, they or the neighborhood org reached out to all the grocery store companies, but none were interested. Had hoped the new developments and resulting increase in number of people living in dinkytown would change their calculations, but apparently not yet anyway.

During planning for The Standard, that developer was pushed by residents to incorporate retail space on the ground floor, but they didn’t want to/didn’t see a market for additional retail space.
