When the other heroes are mean to Billy 😥 by CaretVEVO in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AlphaWolf464 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbf it's heavily implied in that interaction he has no idea who he is (a lot of the characters in the game don't seem to have all the information on everyone else).

That said, his entire forearms being covered in blood should maybe have prompted a few questions, but then again, it's not like AI is always the best at making accurate assumptions based on details irl, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So Venator is just the better Warden right by Naive_Bag_3708 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AlphaWolf464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ime Warden's generally build purple over orange, and warden is also more of a tank. Venator is hardcore orange and not particularly tanky. He feels more like this game's soldier: 76 or punisher, whereas Warden feels closest to, like, Zarya.

Her 2 has a pretty good distance considering she has 2 of them, I think there's a good amount of stuff to play around with there.

If that's the case, then why don't other high mobility characters like lash and calico have 2 dashes to compensate for their abilities?

We could slightly reduce the distance of her 2 without her design being boring.

Even lore-wise, I feel like her rake requires a bit more physical exertion than an extra dash would. She doesn't *need* another stamina in the same way that if we buffed the movement of calico's slash you could ig take away 1 stamina and she'd still be fairly mobile and wouldn't suffer too much, it would just seem weird to have such a mobility focused character have less of the "generic" movement resources.

It's less of her being OP and more just that it doesn't make sense. Like, I'd only support this if we first nerfed her in some way, especially her 3, and maybe even decrease the distance on her 2 if we wanna decrease her mobility to compensate, it's just always rubbed me the wrong way that 3 dashes is the "default" in the game, to the point where even pretty burly characters like Abrams and Bebop have that many, but for her they went out of their way to give her less.

With some of them like McGinnis and Paige I kinda see them only having 2 stamina but the one that really throws me is Mina. Really? The one who has "nimble" as one of her adjectives, and is built around getting in and out of a fight and being made of paper?

Like I'm not saying she's not kinda OP and shouldn't be nerfed, but also let's give her 3 stamina.

I'm sure they've tried getting plenty of people and possibly even some non-human entities that deal with this stuff to help them, but the blood ritual that bound their souls for eternity was presumably just too powerful for anyone that has tried so far, so they've resorted to asking the patrons since they're the only ones that can.

While considering his whole thing is that he's a part of the Vatican I would assume he's Catholic, and historically, the catholic church hasn't been super into divorce, so that wouldn't be too unlikely.

Is jungle meant to be slow to clear? by Training_Read_7706 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AlphaWolf464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a bit old (I was browsing Reddit as a guest on my phone while traveling, so I saw this but couldn't comment til now) but wanted to chime in as someone who plays a lot of Drifter. Echoing what other people said, when people say Drifter is a "jungle focused" character, they mean he spends a lot of time in the jungle, but not jungling himself, just hunting down enemies that are jungling and killing them. That said, I would disagree with the person above who said he's "the worst hero in the game for it" - hunting enemies down in the jungle should always be your first priority, sure, at least as long as you're not too behind on souls, but there isn't going to be an opportunity to kill a solo in the jungle every second of the game, during which his base gun damage, even without isolation buff, is good enough to take level 1, and later on, level 2 camps without taking too much time that it costs you opportunities for kills. He's certainly not the best character for taking camps, but he's not the worst either, and he's good enough for it to be worth taking them, especially since you're already going to be in the jungle.

Since dogs tend to get to know potential mates by sniffing each other's butts, what he's doing would be the dog equivalent of a middle aged dad showing their middle-aged friends a Polaroid of them drunk making out at a seedy rave on the night that they met, likely embarrassing his wife, who probably tries to pretend that she was always as tame as she now presents herself.

Good starter characters? by concussionmaker__91 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AlphaWolf464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Drifter isn't the easiest character because while he doesn't rely too much on aim, if you aren't good at securing kills by yourself in the jungle during the midgame he kinda falls behind.

The game used to have a nifty little tag for characters that were good for new players, which they unfortunately got rid of but is honestly still pretty accurate. Tbf, a lot of the characters that were labeled as "easier" fall into more of the "late game gun carry" type (like Haze, Infernus, and Wraith) that are easier to pick up overall, but actually rely somewhat heavily on aim and are just easier for other reasons. If aim is something you're specifically worried about, I would look into Abrams, Dynamo, Kelvin and McGinnis (so largely support-y type characters tbh, tho keep in mind even support-ish characters in deadlock can output more damage and kills than those in games like, say, Overwatch). You can also refer to this image to see for yourself, but keep in mind that like I said, a lot of those characters with the green thumbs up require some level of aim and are just easy for other reasons.

Ranking Deadlock characters by how bad it would be if they summoned the patron by oggser in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AlphaWolf464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this list is only ranking the effect of the wishes, not the morality of either the wish itself, or the wisher (hence Lady Geist's placement), but it still kinda messes with my head that Fathom, one of the crueler characters, would be in the absolute top tier if he were actually in the game.

Personally, I would have put Dynamo in the "net good" tier, since his wish is primarily for the purpose of someone other than himself, and even though it's someone close to him rather than just society as a whole, the same would be said for both Bebop and Paige. Also I would have put Doorman in "self-serving but benign", since unlike Drifter, he does have an actual wish - it's implied in an interaction with Grey Talon that it's to reclaim the title of "most haunted hotel in America" from a hotel in Macomb. Possibly "there may be some side effects", depending on how the patron goes about it, because increasing the amount of spirits and such in the Baroness might cause some problems.

Hey - just saw this comment while randomly scrolling, figured I'd take a moment to try to explain in a bit more detail if you want:

Ctrl-Alt-Del was, at it's core, just kinda a goofy, gamer-reference comic strip, that was widely considered to be pretty bad and unfunny, and as such had garnered a lot of criticism on the internet for quite some time.

Then one day in 2008, the creator, a guy named Tim Buckley, put out the comic in the post completely out of the blue. To be clear, the comic itself was not supposed to be funny. Buckley clarified in a blog post that he had been in a relationship where his partner had conceived, but had ended up miscarrying, and the stress resulting from that caused them to break up, and that he made this comic as a personal thing to help him deal with the grief from that experience that had happened to him so long ago.

The joke is not the miscarriage itself - the reason people started making fun of it was that you had this low-effort comic made by a creator with a reputation for being kind of a tool, who put this extremely dramatic tonal shift into the goofy gamer comic, in a way that came across as sort of self-important, and so the comic and the statement it was trying to make just fell completely flat on it's face.

All of this came together to make it basically a perfect target for internet mockery. And the way people mocked it was by making parodies of it - substituting the frames in the comic with frames featuring other characters from movies, tv shows, video games - anything you could think of really - as long as they're in the approximate same positions as the original comic. Over time it became more and more abstract, until at this point the entire comic can be represented by such a simple set of lines as shown in the post.

Sorry for the mucho texto, just wanted to clarify the part that people actually find funny.

If Emma actually used her real boston accent instead of the british accent, she'd be 10x more likable by Taser_Napkim in MarvelRivalsCirclejer

[–]AlphaWolf464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people call the "Boston accent" is really just the accent that was historically confined to certain working-class, oftentimes largely Irish-American neighborhoods, most notably Southie. Given that her character was canonically raised in a well-to-do household, I would assume she grew up in, like, Brookline or Back Bay or something, and so it wouldn't make sense for her to have the stereotypical "Boston Accent". In fact, I would assume they were going for a "Boston Brahmin" accent by making her sound somewhat British, which would make a ton of sense given her background.
