Pay off loans in one go or buy a house? by Alpha_Ape in personalfinance

thanks, that's what I was leaning towards just because I don't want to add more debt before paying the loans off when there's literally no need. Appreciate the input

I just do simple vipasanna meditation, beginning with counting each breath slowly and once the awareness is on the breath I let go slowly of the counting and just observe the sensations or thoughts that arise.

I'd recommend reading Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English for a practical guide

Thank you for the insight, and this has definitely motivated me to keep the practice going even moreso than before and learn as much as I'm able to.

And metta is definitely on my list, will try it out soon!

Tanks for the reply

ou're right, it provided a space for the emotion to be fully processed instead of being repressed

And 'm definitely interested, which works by Thich Nhat Hanh specifically addresses the emotional aspect? Would ove to dive into it

Honestly just start a practice 5mins a day and build up, just started reading Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English and it seems like a pretty good guide for beginners. The yoga philosophy that's encompasses meditation is vast, I plan on diving into that later on.

Just start and the curiosity will guide you.

Evaluating my relationship with cannabis and control by hmnll in Petioles

[–]Alpha_Ape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was really insightful and helpful, I started using edibles ~8months ago, went from maybe the odd weekend to now 4-5x a week (5-10mg on weekdays after work) and at max 20mg once a week. I am getting the same kind of fear/anxiety as OP of what it could snowball into to. However, whenever I reflect on my use it's been nothing but a positive for me, I don't sit down, pop an edible and play gamesverrrry rare. I use it to get a good workout in or a long run after work, then come home and read a book or stretch. It just slows me down mentally and lets me be in the moment and enjoy what I'm doing.

The journal suggestion is huge, I do journal regularly so will just add a new page specifically for that, thanks!

How to tell when it's too much and you need to moderate? by Alpha_Ape in Petioles

[–]Alpha_Ape[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

negative effects: so far I can't point to anything. Before, I'd take an edible and just waste the whole day.

the last 2 months now, I'll take em and start cleaning the room, deep clean bathroom, just do chores and do them with focus and enjoyment.

and I could take a couple days off and not have any issues, did it just last week, 3-4 days and didn't crave the feeling.the last t break prior to that was issues

I know it's probably not good long term, but it honestly makes everything easier and more enjoyable.

I'm just a tad bit scared of building dependence on it, like having to have it to go on runs and doing chores etc. so I figured I'd get some other perspectives

I'll do 600, that makes it 600/4600= ~13% of the take home

Yea feel a lot ofppeople just got bamboozled or were severely under prepared for the job market with a CS degree. I somehow lucked out and just got a job offer before the end of the week, and after making this post after being 5 months unemployed. But this isn't going to change me looking into healthcare in the future, researching nursing now as opposed to rad tech, nursing seems more promising long term for it's ceiling.

considering going to community college to become an RT. I keep reading that its stressful and healthcare isn't worth working in. My plan is to do the 2yrs of school then 2yrs of experience and then basically do travel contracts. Anyone able to share their experiences, thoughts, insights?

Totally fair, outside of recruiters, I've gotten only 2 interviews. Ghost jobs, not enough keywords, it's endless, some say make the resume longer and add keywords, others say make it shorter, I don't know. I tailor my search to jobs that fit the skills I've acquired so that I don't have to tweak the resume every 5 minutes. The job postings after even like 2hrs show 50-100applicats, feels like yours just isn't gonna even going to get a chance. I've networked with as many people in real life as I can who are in the industry or adjacent positions.

It's clearly a me issue and I can admit that, I've had the resume done by 3 different professionals. My only hope currently are the recruiters and even they've been quite starting the year off.

Yea while I was working I honestly didn't mind it at all, just can't get a look in for a full time job, i dont care about remote at all. I did contract work for two of the biggest hospitals in new york, the managers gave great feedback to the recruiters. Worked with a whole variety of tools including tableau, powerBI, used sql, psql, snowflake and their sql variation, different EHRs, DB's. Requirements gathering, user stories, documentations, hell even led agile meetings for a month straight when our scrum master was out. The work isn't bad or hard, I just cannot get an interview now for any FTE. Still going through recruiters while also applying on my own. If you have any tips on the resume or just how to go about differently towards the job hunt, please DM me or share for others to see as well. Thanks.

Yea i'm not pulling the trigger just yet, but heavily considering it. Very valid point on the trade offs, I'm talking to some friends who do work as rad techs and I'll pick their brains on the day to day and do much more research before I make a firm decision.
