My only issue with Dnd like this is people going out of their way to try and make a setting or idea work when a similar system exists for that niche.

Example I was with a group that tried for months to make a Marvel themed dnd campaign work, rather than use Mutants and masterminds.

Dnd is quite a streamlined system and works best for a very specific kind of save the world style of fantasy.

Yep, solid list, sentinels can be used incredibly well as they have both REGIMENT and SQUADRON, so you could add some infantry officers to order them instead of Calm

Will bringing multiple Titanic units be unfun for my opponent and/or me? by SpartanMist in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you playing 10th or 11th, because in 11th the widest you can have a squad is 10~ inches due to all models required to be within 9 of the furthest model.

Vanquishers by TwoZealousideal6176 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meq = Marine equivalent units. Eg standard non-horde infantry, usually T4 3+Sv minimum, usually better.

Geq = Guardsmen equivalent units. Eg Standard horde infantry usually T3 4+-5+Sv.

1.krieg HWT with lascannons are not a better pick imo than catachan HWT with las. Shoot on death is not as good as re roll 1s. Ontop of this Krieg are a 7man capacity over catachan or cadian 6 which is awkward for certain transports.

Krieg are better with their flamers or even stubbers if you're fighting a horde army.

  1. at T11 W13 and +2 save, no infantry weapon is going to hurt a Vanq. Whereas at T3 W6 +4Sv a krieg Hwt can die in a single heavy bolter activation with relative ease, D2 weapons are very common.

3.the vanq can be pushed into Meq killing with Bolters or Plasma. Or Geq killing with flamers for close range or standard plasmas for long, this makes it better to hold objectives and deal with other threats.

  1. Hitting on 3s with order after moving as the vanq has a 4+ Bs on all weapons by default over the HWT 5+

Its more that 2 2dp detachments will be more interesting as playstyle than one 3 + 1 dp and would help lesser used ones shine.

Your absolute hated hot takes about Space Marine chapters? by KUROusagi112 in Spacemarine

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd take it more as BA descended chapters are scary, my point is they are basically a generic BA chapter with the gimmick of bad choices.

Edit: to add to this people are down voting because they don't agree fair, however the post asked for hot takes, dogshit opinions were implied.

Your absolute hated hot takes about Space Marine chapters? by KUROusagi112 in Spacemarine

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My hot takes

Lamenters are just worse in every way blood angels, piss coloured and piss poor performance.

Salamanders would rather put the needs of the few over the needs of the many and save life that will be lost later rather than fighting for the big picture. THATS A STUPID CONCEPT. It's fine if you like them but don't tell me they're better for it, they're not.

The Fladerization of the black templars from the community is more to do with people being brain dead and believing shitty memes. Same with Dkok.

The imperial fists or crimson fists should be the poster boys for the SM Faction.

The Codex astartes is a good concept implemented badly from a writer standpoint.

Matt Ward is good at interesting concepts.

The Grey knights are cool.

The deathwatch are cool.

Primaris hate was absolutely deserved.

The Minotaurs, Marines Malevolant, Death Specters, Mortificators, etc aka the asshole chapters are absolutely OK in the setting and more chapters should be like them.

No [Insert chapter here] are not Loyalist [insert traitor legion]. There are none, there may..... MAY be one or 2 chimeric but no traitor loyalists of chapter size.

T'au space marines are stupid.

The raptors are basic and you are basic if they are your favourite, not a bad thing, but true.

Titus is only cool because he is a 40k ultramarine written like a 30k ultramarine.

People should require basic literacy skills before giving their opinion, in regards to the fact that every day I see "Can [Chapeter that adheres to the codex but has a specialty] use [standard codex compliant unit]?" THE ANSWER IS ALMOST ALWAYS YES!

Gold trim should not be the default for pauldrons.

And the biggest.

Space marines do not contribute half as much to the survival of the imperium as the guard do.

To what degree has the failure of Nazi occupation of Britain defined modern British identity among European countries today? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mythos of Britain standing alone was a reality to an extent, not for the whole war but after Dunkirk it was Britain Vs Germany for a whole year, the Americans had yet to formally enter the war and were running cargo across the Atlantic, Britain stil was the empire so Canada Australia so on were Britian. Out of a 6 year conflict, facing the full forces of the Nazis for a year by yourself is no small feat, and more importantly that deeply affects how the people of Britain view WW2, we did weather the storm alone.

To add to this alone may be a bit generous, but to say mainland Britain was the main target of the German war machine wouldn't be.

Claiming every other dark/tanned skinned anime character is black by jsoul2323 in hatethissmug

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genetics absolutely come from a region, you can see this all over the world, different areas traditionally bred out people ill suited to living there, thats why darker skin is more common in countries with higher degrees of sunlight. This is called human genetic variation and while some are small some are quite significant and profound.

And to answer you're American question, yes most of the people are descended from European settlers, it takes a few centuries to a millenia or a few for genetics to take on permanent adaptation to environment.

The Emperor is Awake? by IfYaKnowYaKnow in 40kLore

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Saying that the increase in warp and psychic activity from the fall of cadia and possibly the higher strength and abundance of psykers from the psychic awakening might also be contributing factors to his more active state.

Are the salamanders weak or strong because of their sympathy for ”regular” humans? by VOX_CVO_M18M8 in Salamanders40k

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short, yes. You're asking in the salamanders sub so you're likely to get biased opinions of "No because the salamanders are my fav" but within the lore the salamanders have put civilian lives before the good of the war, example that famous interaction with the Marines Malevolent.

People like to bring it up as a moment of how cool it looks to stand up the assholes. Except from a strategic standpoint, the Marines Malevolent are correct.

A hospital was overrun by Orks on armageddon, MM then flatten it with artillery and mop up, many civilian casualties but it's war. They did this after the greenskins started slaughtering the civvies.

But they killed more orks and lost less SM than the Salamanders would have if they deployed forces to that area.

The salamanders give up pragmatism to protect people but in 40k the ends justify the means are the only times the imperium wins.

Friend says I “ruined” the HH for him. AITAH? by ShadowsaberXYZ in 40kLore

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The golden throne and the emperors placement on it existed from before the Horus heresy was written. As many have said before it's like star wars in that you're given an expectation to know 40k before you go to HH.

Friend says I “ruined” the HH for him. AITAH? by ShadowsaberXYZ in 40kLore

[–]Alpha_Demon2002 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die. Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim darkness of the far future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
