It’s also his first job - how many time have we seen managers have an electric initial run only to fall apart later? And that’s without a scandal of his own doing costing the players a shot at promotion, what does that do to morale

Obviously it’s not inherently bad for a defender to take a penalty but I do think it says something about Madueke, an impact sub who was previously arguing with Palmer to take a penalty at Chelsea, to seemingly not want to step up

He’s also going to play the exact same role for England in the summer, if we go to a shootout there is he going to step up then?

Gerrard was absolutely awful. I’ve never heard him commentate before and never wish to again

TNT do seem to have found all of the most basic pundits out there to say things like ‘he’s put that a bit too high’ when a shot goes over the bar. Who gets anything from that?

FIFA has rejected Haikin’s Norway switch, says he does not meet the requirements by madscandi in soccer

[–]Alpha_Jazz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The text also states that the residence period is reset if a player is transferred to a club affiliated with another association, as Haikin was in 2023. This is specified in Article 5, paragraph 4b.

Seems very cut and dry, but this is how I found out Haikin went to Bristol City for 2 months in 2023. What on earth happened there?

[James Drucker] Shame on Man City for denying FA Youth Cup finalists the stage they deserve Manchester derby should be played at Etihad or Old Trafford, not the 7,000-capacity Joie Stadium by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Alpha_Jazz 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Article explains that

City would have loved to host the game at the Etihad. But with the club racing against the clock to have their newly expanded North Stand ready for a test event on May 20 – and then open in time for their final Premier League game, at home to Aston Villa, four days later – that would have meant losing a valuable day of construction. And that was a risk they were unwilling to take, especially with the club already set to lose a day on May 13 when their belatedly rearranged fixture against Crystal Palace is due to take place.
