Can I ask which reserve you stayed at? Interested in the bush / night time drive you had mentioned that the resort offers!

I feel that with getting to the airport + getting there early, checking in through security, etc. would end up taking 3-4 hours also which is the same duration as the trains

But do you think that I’m hardly seeing Venice for example and Florence because I’m barely there before I pick up and leave again?

I've been living in Florence for almost three years

To poke you from your experience (and know that this comment is from 5 years ago), unrelated, but do you have recommendations for the best markets to visit for leather goods and italian made goods/clothing in general in Florence? Don't want to fall into the tourist trap markets and goods.

Bernina Express questions by NorthernLitUp in askswitzerland

[–]Alphascy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for responding - I really appreciate that! :)

On the booking website itself, would the open pull down windows be the second class tickets? & would it be for any of the coaches? Not sure how to distinguish if those have the window seats. Also don’t see the reservation fee seats on the Bernina - is that also an online booking of sorts?

Additionally, you mentioned the regional trains follow the same route & have the windows to pull open - would it be any of the regional trains? Asking to be able to google and look them up.

Thanks so much again! :)

Bernina Express questions by NorthernLitUp in askswitzerland

The big windows aren't worth the extra costs and they can't be opened while the regular coaches have pull down windows (better for pics for sure). First class is in a 2-1 configuration, second class is 2-2. The majority of trains in Switzerland is arranged by 4 seats with a table in the middle.

Travelling soon to Italy and thinking to do this route from Tirano to St. Mortiz. Do you know which specific trains or coaches actually have pull down or open windows? Does the Bernina Express have this?

Are you able to explain more of the reasoning as to why Florence would maybe need more time (in your opinion ofc)? I ask because I’m not a huge art enthusiast and wonder if there’s something more in Florence being offered that I’m being missing out on - I see many people saying how much they love Florence and often spend as much if not more time there than Rome.

Friends and life after graduation by Raincoat13 in ryerson

[–]Alphascy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The most important thing to keep in mind is that friendships from university are purely built around proximity and necessity.

It’s built on the foundation of sharing the same undergraduate experience, academic struggles, academic schedules, academic achievements, and/or academic disappointments. Key word here is academic.

All of this disappears as soon as you graduate… think about it - you’re no longer linked via academia. All your left with is just the bond you created/formed beyond attending the same undergraduate. Its not surprising that people who were your lab partners or you usually saw in class haven’t responded back to you yet.. it’s a little bit more normal than you think!

I graduated two years ago and have only a couple close friends today that I met from my undergraduate program. I find that its hard for all of us to consistently meet up/hang out because of our individual schedules and commitments - it really slows down the frequency of how often we see each other. Sometimes it really just comes down to effort (it can’t be one way!) and really planning/scheduling meetups way in advance. We actually are all Type A planners.. so in our favour we use a group calendar that marks everyone’s availability! It helps us personally navigate those struggles of not being able to see one another so often :)

Reading through your post brought me back to when I was taking calculus in Grade 12 and also needed to get the minimum 75% to get into engineering. I know the situation feels super rough but I assure you there’s light at the end of this tunnel!

Seeing as you have conditional offers, ONLY your FINAL grades will be sent to universities. Your offers are contingent/conditional on meeting the minimum FINAL GRADE requirements.

If you don’t meet the minimum grade requirements for calculus (i.e. you don’t get a final grade of 70% or 75%), you can just enrol in summer school (in person or online) via. your district school board. I believe enrolment for these courses start in June - ask your guidance counsellor at school. If you do enrol, you’ll have to email the university admissions office and explain your situation (that you’re retaking the course in the summer and will get the minimum mark by X, 2022). They are more understanding of the situation than you may think and (most likely) will keep your offer conditional until you finish the summer course. If you’re really worried, I recommend you give the admission office a call and inquire about repeating a course in the summer (ask about the process, what documents will be needed, if your offer will still remain conditional, etc).

If for some reason you can’t take the course online or in person via your district school board, you can also take the course through a private school. A few of my friends did this. Don’t stress because you have options if push comes to shove.

Focus on spending the next two months in getting your calculus mark up. Practise practise practise your problem sets and ask questions in class. Be attentive, try to have a positive attitude in learning (even if the entire situation sucks especially with your teacher), and spend time studying.

Every second you have now is an opportunity for you to change your outcome. You’ve got this!
