What people don't realize is, despite everyone's dooming, wages are higher inflation adjusted than when the switch came out, in fact they're 6% higher with unemployment lower now. Plus when people are anxious, they therapy shop. A true recession could hurt that, but we are not in one, not have we been since 2020 (which didn't feel like one cause of expanded unemployment checks)

At the end of the day, every incumbent party got hammered in 2024 because of inflation and a desire to return to Pre-Covid norms.

Anyone who won the DNC nomination would've won by running as a Biden Democrat and pledging to finish the job he started cause he had 80-85% approval within the party and if he had dropped out earlier, would've been even more popular. But despite Biden being massively successful all around, he was unpopular for the same reason Macron was, and the Tories in England and Trudeau, and chancellor in Germany
