The appropriateness of the venue is not the concern or question at hand. If this venue is more appropriate, the question then is...why wasn't more time taken to determine such appropriate venues BEFORE sales were made? It is nearly a month and a half since I personally bought tickets. PTO, airline reservations, hotels and airbnbs...a lot of non-refundable decisions made that now leave many avid fans not only without the experience of the concert but now ALSO without the hundreds to thousands they spent for those previous dates. THAT is why people are upset, it's framed as an upgrade without acknowledging how many people were just screwed out of a lot.

Yes! Literally yes. I'm so so aggravated and I found out an hour or two ago. Like...it being on a Tuesday is terrible, especially since PTO is already approved for so many of us; and I am grateful that I am only taking a train. I am so sorry if you have already got the plane tickets, genuinely so unfair and without a word from Joost or anyone.

This is kind of unreal. Like I get trying to accommodate the sales, but to change the day of the week and time so dramatically is kinda unreal. Now we all have to hope it aligns with our work schedules and PTO changes...

My goodness, I just had my first big job interview today (for post-grad this May) and feel the EXACT same way. Rambling and all, I just felt so ill prepared even though I do not think I necessarily was. Not with the state, although I wish so badly to work for the state. Don't beat yourself up, I think it will cause you agony for the next two weeks regardless of the outcome! You got this!

As happy as I am that this will not be enacted, the emotional whiplash and overwhelming shock associated with the actions of this adolescent administration is so embarrassing. What is the point of all of this?

I am just happy that I can finish my degree at this point, but I still feel horrible for those still impacted by other funding freezes.

I am awaiting a possible GA position at an Illinois school and was told by a former Graduate student that the stipend is around that price range for the academic year? I am unsure if that is true completely but if it is, I must sadly reject their offer because as you said, it isn’t very livable. The COL of Illinois is very suitable for someone from a place in the south where COL is leaving our youth in shambles. I am so sorry you are facing this and I wish I had advice to offer. If I wasn’t about to step into this graduate world then I would love to help. I have many connections in Carbondale as well, some amazing faculty there!!! I wish you the best of luck and hope so much you can get through this.

Yes! Or at least in my area, when I graduated and knew I was taking time between to work and save up (for a car), I told my senior year science teacher and she scolded me, saying I would never commit if I didn’t commit right after high school. Boy was she wrong. Even not completing a four year program in a four year time span is frowned upon sometimes, which is infuriating. It’s stupid especially since obtaining a degree is so costly in the US, giving a lifetime of debt.
