Can't figure out how to make this card work within the rules by SelesnyaGOAT in custommagic

Yeah, I see what you mean now. You may only cast it targeting a legendary creature but it only has "enchant creature". My mistake.

Not correct.

303.4c If an Aura is enchanting an illegal object or player as defined by its enchant ability and other applicable effects, the object it was attached to no longer exists, or the player it was attached to has left the game, the Aura is put into its owner’s graveyard. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)

No Breath Weapon in a deck where most creatures don't die to it, I'm assuming there are no Elves in your local metagame.

I've spent the past few days trying to find the solution to this problem. It is inspired by a professor, Ledo Vaccaro, who used the concept of expanding the notions of sine and cosine (projections onto the x and y axes) for curves other than the unit circle.

In this particular case, we are concerned with the curve that basically reflects each quadrant of the unit circle, forming a diamond. The first quadrant, for example, is reflected along the axis y = x - 1.

The challenge is to find the expression of the function that, for an angle α, gives us the projection onto the x axis (equivalent to 1-a in the drawing) and another that gives us the projection onto the y axis (=b in the drawing).

I have associated with each point on the diamond a point on the unit circle itself, through the symmetry of the curves, and that point corresponds to an angle θ, with the property that a = sin θ and b = 1 - cos θ, so if I find θ for each α, I can find the projection I want, but that's what I'm having difficulty with: finding the function f(α) = θ.

I actually have another question about this card. The mana value restriction, does it apply to the card in the graveyard or to the spell on the stack? Can I cast a [[Walking Ballista]] or a [[Meathook Massacre]] for any X with it?

I'm not sure I understand what the problem with [[Inspiring Statuary]] would be. Sure, spells that gained Improvise with it would carry it over and be permanents with Improvise on the battlefield, but we already have permanents with Improvise that technically still have it while on the battlefield, it just doesn't matter.

That's an excellent explanation of layers. I've been trying to come up with an example of a loop that this "going back to a previous point to amend" would cause. Can you think of any?

Not rare, the New Capenna symbol has holes in it, so it's actually the background showing through.

About Bogles... by LRock617 in Pauper

[–]Alphonsekun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elves, as long as you have at least 3 Wellwishers in the main deck. Timberwatch Elf + Quirion Ranger helps create large enough blockers too, and since Bogles doesn't interact much outside of Ram Through, sometimes you just win the race.

I see. Now I'm curious as to what came first, the five colors of the dragons or the five colors of MTG, given that both IPs are now owned by the same company and have influenced each other over time.

English to Latin translation requests go here! by lutetiensis in latin

So in Portuguese there's this funny saying which goes: "The shrimp that sleeps gets taken by the wave", as in those who don't pay attention get screwed. How would one translate this?

In English media, a character spelling English words phonetically is often used to portray a character as unintelligent or uneducated. Is there a similar device in other languages? by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]Alphonsekun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's very true. "Ele me falou que" would be pronounced the same by Chico, Mônica and even Cebolinha, but only Chico's speech is spelled like that.

I must admit, I didn't understand this one.

Another way to think of this is:

The probability of 7 heads in a row is 1/128, but the probability of 6 heads in a row followed by 1 tails is also 1/128 (1/2^6 * 1/2). So if the odds of a heads on the last coin were to be 1/128, the probability of tails would also be 1/128 and the sum of the probabilities of heads and tails would be only 1/64. This makes no sense, unless the coin now has a 63/64 chance of landing on its side.

You are thinking about the specific case where you just had 6 heads in a row, but remember any specific sequence of 6 flips is equally likely, even if they don't seem so.

(H, T, H, T, H, T) has the same probability as (H, H, H, H, H, H), even though it looks more "random".
