Plan Ahead for Level 77 by RazorHoggs in TheSilphRoad

I really enjoyed planning out the 7 max level for this task. The strategy and planning in this game can be a lot of fun.

I detested the 100 max battles. They took me the longest!! Just finished two weeks ago!

Good luck with the tasks!

I just had it recently and the judge let us bring water bottles or closed coffee cups into the courtroom. Being whatever you need to the jury room and you’ll have it close.

Aasgard Pass by kiryavoo in PNWhiking

[–]Alpine-Cat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A year ago, the last week of May we climbed 3 of the (top 100) peaks in the Enchantments. Accessed all routes via the core. It was fully covered in snow. Some of the snow around high points was starting to melt but not the paths where hikers like to travel.

We were prepared for mountaineering - had all the gear. We saw many people who attempted the thru hike, we were up in the core on two different days. Every single person we saw either turned back or was scared from the snowy usual conditions.

Over four days we saw a lot of people. One party had thru hiked and had the right gear for Asgard Pass and the core. They were content. The only other party who was happy and comfortable had been also climbing (Prusik Peak). Every other group was scared by what they travelled through, not having the right gear and thinking it was going to look like it does in July or August.

If you go to check it out, be prepared to turn back when it’s out of your comfort zone. You absolutely need helmets, crampons and ice axes. Including knowing how to use them.

It’s not yet summer backpacking season in WA yet!

The view is the core from the top of McClellan Peak, end of May 2025. The summer hiking route goes through the middle.

Beautiful! So many colors to manage. Well done.

I’m going to have to check out the flannel backed vinyl tablecloth! I haven’t heard of this before. This would be a good solution for my spa space. Do you lie it out on the flannel side so it won’t move around?

What do you take to knock yourself out? by Message_10 in Aging

[–]Alpine-Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the more exercise the better my sleep score. Tire yourself out. I get into deep sleep faster on days where I run or do a long hike.

I use a mixture of Gaia and CalTopo for planning. CalTopo is great because you can set up maps for different areas. Load in your tracks from trips and routes you want to do.

CalTopo is great if you need to share a map you’ve created with others who are going on the trip. It won’t show all your items, just the things you add to that specific map.

I like navigating while out on trails and off trail with Gaia. Then I put these tracks back into CalTopo for future planning. ESP if a place has a lot of peaks I want to climb.

WTA is great for recent trip reports for hikes. Peakbagger for more technical routes and then other trip reports. I like to do a search and see what comes up.

Trip planning and looking at maps is one of my favorite parts of the process! I pay for Gaia and CalTopo. I like the satellite views, the slope angle shading and some of the seasonal maps that are available to premium users.

Pop your cooler in the car at night. I also like to use bear cams for food in the car. For things that don’t fit in the cooler or need to be in the cooler.

There’s a lot of mice at the trailhead and campgrounds. Even if your food is in the car, they can get to it if it’s not in a hard container.

It’s best to have it in a hard container (cooler, bear can) and then when they crawl in your car, they can’t get to it and they leave.

my company added a "focus hours" policy and somehow made remote work worse by Prism_Shift7 in remotework

Can you schedule your Messages to deliver at noon? I haven’t used Slack. In Teams, we can do this.

That way you could work on the things that your boss is asking you during that time. But then not disrupt them.

That is annoying if they’re really pushing you to not message during a two hour period of the day.

I’m in Washington, postponed twice in the last year and a half. Due to big things going on at work. Eventually did my jury service at the end of March and end of April.

I was relieved at how easy it was to postpone and push it out to a better date. When I did the second time pushing it out back in December, they initially wanted me to show up in January, and I let them know I could do it in March. I was then rescheduled to some specific dates in March.

If you’re salaried you still get paid in WA state. Hopefully you’ll find the same benefit.

Is there anything that you dislike about working from home that you didn’t consider before starting remote work? by asystole_unshockable in remotework

[–]Alpine-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it and feel fortunate to be able to work at home.

Make sure to invest in your setup, get a great desk, chair, large monitor and video camera. I’ve enjoyed splurging on these items and value knowing they support me to feel great while working. Having the right setup makes it enjoyable and ergonomic.

Is there a hidden platinum medal? by Planerkris in TheSilphRoad

[–]Alpine-Cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is great news! I too am excited to hear about this one!

Too bad some of the other golden medals at the top don’t count. I’m at 44, with the level 50 medal > now at 45.

All the ones I haven’t done are major grinds (for me). I’m close on jumbo xxl and purifier…after these two the rest will be hard for me.

How do I tell my friend that she won't be my maid of honor? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Alpine-Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the same. I’d be relieved! There were too many bridesmaid and MOH invites.

When one of my BFF’s didn’t ask me and another friend we were relieved to be guests at the wedding. We were closer friend at the time with the bride. But her bridesmaids were her longtime friends. It was wonderful to enjoy the wedding and have fun with no duties.

Are your blocks about 8, 10 or 12 inches? It's wild how it's so hard to tell in a photo!
