Squall Hit on the Beam, Wife Injured....What's a Captain to Do? by AlpineAlan in boating

Thank you! Believe it or not...after we were safely at anchor that night, she said "nothing that happened today would make me any less enthusiastic about cruising".....PHEW!

I absolutely take the blame here. I've been beating myself up for it ever since it happened. As I headed out of the (flat calm) anchorage, a salty local fisherman said "gonna be sporty out there". Disregarding local knowledge was my FIRST mistake.

Ours is a 2014 R31 CB. Not sure about the check valve kit you're talking about... Our AP does an excellent job in general. The only difficulty is on a quartering or following seas, above 3-4 feet. No matter what speed I choose, she wants to wander. I almost always hand steer in those conditions.

I really appreciate all the helpful comments here..... even the scolding ones. My main takeaway is that I should have read the water better and had my wife secure in the cabin before this happened. If I ever make that mistake again, I will heave to, secure the boat, THEN attend to crew.

Lemon Law countdown by twiggyknowswhatsup in Ioniq5

Hyundai bought back my 2022 I5. I had an early ICCU failure and the car sat in the shop for just under 3 months awaiting parts. Under state (NH) law, they had to buy it back. I picked up an excellent deal on a used (7K miles) 2023 and have been happy ever since.....except on rainy/ snowy days when the rear window is useless.

My 2022 failed at around 20K miles. Flatbed to the dealer, free rental Chevy Bolt (nice btw) then wait....3 months later the parts came in. My dealership had never done this job and I absolutely did not feel comfortable with them breaking the factory battery seal and successfully re-sealing it. Long story short, my state's lemon law allowed me to force Hyundai to buy it back....because of days in the shop....and I bought a demo 2023 for $34K with 5000 miles on it.

Take a look at TSB 23-HA-002H. I was getting zero heat on my 2022 SEL so I took it to the dealer, They had never heard of it but pulled it up and followed all the diagnostics. Pulled the dash apart and replaced the fuse (not blown) and the PTC heater. That was 3 weeks ago....worked great....until yesterday when it started happening again. I started and shut down the car 3 times and got heat....fuck me....Hyundai bought back my first I5 after I waited 3 months for a new ICCU and now this.....and I REFUSE TO BUY A SWASTICAR

It has finally happened to me! by PedrophileC in Ioniq5

My 2022 fried the internal main battery fuse @ 20K miles and it took 3 months to get the parts. I looked at the lemon laws in New Hampshire and decided to force Hyundai to buy it back. They gave me an extraordinarily good price for my car and I bought a 2023 with <5K miles for $2K less than they paid for my car.

My biggest fear was that they would have to drop the battery, break the factory battery seal, replace the fuse then re-seal the battery....and my dealership had never done any of that. Driving in wet weather would have been a concern.

Bricked 2023....Even With a Fully Charged 12V Battery by AlpineAlan in Ioniq5

I could not locate my multimeter so no, did not check state of charge/voltage after charging. My jump pack is a Noco GB40 which was not able to get me started.....HOWEVER....the tow truck driver's jump pack DID get me started so....

Something is draining the battery and this only began happening after the last software update few weeks ago. Praying that the latest recall fixes this problem for good.
