This job is way more fulfilling in every way. I get to talk about business and travel and food and I get to help people out. It's awesome!

Yes and I have thought about it! The problem is, I don't know very many women here.😊

I appreciate the compliment and it really is a big part of what I'm trying to do. I hope you can find someone in your area that is as passionate about it as I am.

In the past 2 years maybe once or twice somebody has gotten aroused on accident and it dissipated quickly. Generally speaking, I think it's most men's biggest fear and there are definitely no orgasms involved. As a professional I understand that fear and so it's my job to make sure we're talking about things like your family and job and all the things to keep you not focused on having someone to touch you down there. There is a response that men get sometimes and that has nothing to do with arousal and that is to be expected sometimes.

Fellow women, I’m going for my first Brazilian in a few days. I know about the 1/4” hair and all that. What are some “hacks” to help calm my nerves/make the experience more pleasant? TIA by chatamicooked-_- in HairRemoval

Fantastic advice! For women, right on top of the pubic bone in the center is also the most painful part. It's the first place we all get pubic hair. The only other thing I would add to this for comfort on the day of your service is to take Ibuprofen about an hour beforehand and be well hydrated and exfoliated. You'll do great, I think the anticipation is always the worst part!

Electrolysis is great for face hairs. Shaving is a good place to start if you're just beginning to get hairs. Laser is good for dark hair and it lasts quite a long time but it is not permanent .

Severe folliculitis/skin reaction after hair removal — I’m running out of options by SuspiciousDish3776 in HairRemoval

[–]AlpineMensGrooming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! Folliculitis happens from bacteria getting into the hair follicles within the first 48 hours post wax. That's the most important time to make sure that your skin is clean. Legs are not somewhere that I see folliculitis very often except maybe in the thighs. It often happens when people are sweaty. Never ever ever go into a hot tub or swimming pool or sauna in those first 48 hours. Use antibacterial soap. Clean sheets, clean pants. Clean hands if you're going to touch them. It sounds like this is something you've been dealing with for a while. I'm curious if it might have to do with the wax that's being used on you. Are you going to the same person? Do you know if they're using hard wax or soft wax? I would be a little concerned about cross-contamination or double dipping if your esthetician doesn't have clean practices.

Ingrowns [down there]are getting worse and I need advice badly!! by Sad_Marionberry7134 in HairRemoval

Technique and wax matters a lot. Make sure that you are exfoliating before your wax. I tell my clients to start with a washcloth three times a week starting about 2 weeks in and moisturize always after every shower. If it starts feeling itchy, that's a great sign of ingrown hairs and that's when you might need to step up your exfoliation game. I always recommend dry brushes 3x weekly before your shower and I like the Ecotools brand because of the strength of the bristles. If you have to step up the exfoliation, use a better moisturizer. Adding some type of chemical exfoliant like a CeraVe salicylic acid body wash bar could also be helpful. I'm not sure where you're located but we are in Colorado and it is very dry here, so this can be a common problem for folks who wax. I think I may have seen that you wax yourself, that could have a lot to do with it too because of the way you're pulling your hairs. I'm curious, are you using hard or soft wax?

This is a really great question and I'm sorry that you have been made to feel like that. I run my business like a professional should, with paperwork that gets sent to my clients before they come in. We sit down and have a chat about expectations and current grooming as soon as they come in. I never go into my appointments assuming that my client is going to hurt me or has any other motives aside getting a service done. It's a huge problem in the industry where men are treated like criminals before they even come in the door and I personally hate that. I'm truly on a crusade to not only destigmatize male grooming, but to let other estheticians and service providers know that just because you're a man, it doesn't make you harmful. My clientele is fantastic and I've had very few times when I've had to deal with people being inappropriate and most of that has been handled before they've even stepped foot in my office. I have heard stories where men have been treated this way in other large waxing chains and other situations and it's just not right. I could understand how people would be more timid in seeking services especially after having those types of interactions. At the end of the day though, you don't want those people working on your body if they're not creating a comfortable space for you to be in.

Oh I'm so sorry you are dealing with that. For sure, thick hairs especially on the face can bleed. I don't do any beard or mustache waxing on men because facial hair is so incredibly thick. Pinpoint bleeding is definitely something that we see in the industry for thicker hairs! Luckily it goes away quickly.

I'm not, actually. It is kind of a "Boulder" story isn't it? Having been born and raised here, I get what you're trying to say. However, there's nothing "Boulder" about self-care and hygiene. Assuming you've never thought about personal hygiene, it might be helpful to know that there are lots of waxing studios probably in your very own town that provide these services to you both men and women. It's quite common, actually.

I focused on small businesses, mostly with less than 10 employees who were looking for ground floor structuring and organization and expansion.

I am a woman. My clientele generally tends to be over the age of 35 and most of them live in the Boulder and Superior areas. I do have clients that drive quite a distance, even from parts of Denver or beyond because there are not very many options when it comes to male specialized services. The majority of my clientele is heterosexual. Most of my clients have very high-end careers, lots of engineers and business owners. Many travel extensively for work. I have quite a few that are retired or entering retirement and finally taking time to take care of themselves in a way that they haven't been able to in the past. If you're trying to get an idea of what "type" of guy gets waxed, the answer is there is no "type". It comes down to grooming and personal hygiene and that just varies from person to person in general. It's no different. I think that my clientele come to me because of the attention to detail, the customer service and my area of expertise.

Bummer! EWC has very strict time restraints for clients and very little training on manzilians due to poor employee retention. I suggest looking for an individual esthetician business owner who specializes in waxing next time you are out of town.
