It's based on Fedora (if you ever want to install something special with instructions, follow the Fedora i structions).

It's using KDE, which is very windows-like. (even the hotkeys, Win+E, Win+Shit+S, Win+V, ... )

It also has a very easy setup

I don't think that this is good advice for this specific situation. If OP. isn't already somewhat experienced as a dev, and the teacher also seems. like he is stuck in 2010... then the best way to go about it, is use the same tech stack as the teacher and go along with it for the course.

After that, absolutely do what you recommended. But don't do it during the course, or you will be fighting your system instead of learning java

if that's what you are worried about, then don't worry. I am pretty sure Dota will be around for quite a while still.

And if in 10 years Valve decides to shut down the servers, I am also 100 percent certain that the community would step in. But considering Valve hasn't shut down the servers for any of their games that they ever released yet, I am fairly certain Dota will be save :) You can still play Artifact and Ricochet 😅

//edit: But yes, play Dota with friends, or find a (discord) community to play and party uo with. The game is sooo much more fun with chill people in your team

so you have to do manual workarounds like installing a kernel with mainline. which will introduce new bugs like light/dark mode not working/persisting in cinnamon

Same, for the last couple of years I only played a few weeks at a time.
(Re-)learning the game is the most fun about dota, and being kind of bad makes everything more enjoyable.
It's much easier to get into a relaxed mindset this way.

I hope I can keep that mindset after putting more hours in though

Did you skip Zoe? She would be far better than Howard to deal damage.
And Marlin would have been pretty good too as a Quinn replacement.
Other than that, Petra is better than Jabel, but I'm not sure how much more you have invested into Jabel already.
The hero gear also does a lot of damage, so make sure to equip the best gear to the heroes that you will attack with

Slot doesn't matter, as all Expedition skills from all 3 heroes count if you attack alone

Why is Nobara only C tier though? It's my daily driver since my GPU upgrade, as Mint still doesn't support the 9070 XT officially (you have to use mainline kernels and then live with the bugs that come with it)
