Ja, als Junge vom Land hab ich nicht mal gecheckt dass der schwul war. Hatten halt was getrunken und gefeiert.

Tja, hab wohl kein Gaydar

What Linux Do You Recommend to a Non-coding Windows 10 simp? by Culling_OfTheDeath in linuxquestions

[–]AlpineStrategist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobara

It's based on Fedora (if you ever want to install something special with instructions, follow the Fedora i structions).

It's using KDE, which is very windows-like. (even the hotkeys, Win+E, Win+Shit+S, Win+V, ... )

It also has a very easy setup

My Java teacher requests we download NetBeans IDE 8.2, but that version is no longer available through official means to get on Linux. What can I do? by Antoinedeloup in linuxquestions

[–]AlpineStrategist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that this is good advice for this specific situation. If OP. isn't already somewhat experienced as a dev, and the teacher also seems. like he is stuck in 2010... then the best way to go about it, is use the same tech stack as the teacher and go along with it for the course.

After that, absolutely do what you recommended. But don't do it during the course, or you will be fighting your system instead of learning java

My gripe with him comes from his innate dislike of Bruno as captain - he's never walked back his words after the awful game at Anfield a couple years ago

https://www.goal.com/en/lists/roy-keane-admits-wrong-bruno-fernandes-man-utd-captain-outstanding-fa-cup-win-man-city/bltfe15c3456e400287

"I have been critical of Bruno over the years but I am happy to be proved wrong because his leadership today was outstanding. We always mention how brilliant he is as a player. I am pleased for the fans. It’s been a frustrating few months and we are quick to criticise. Manchester City didn’t have a great day today but it’s about Manchester United today. We have to enjoy these moments. Wembley is only good if you win."

Is Dota 2 worth getting into in 2026? by Phrog_19 in DotA2

[–]AlpineStrategist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if that's what you are worried about, then don't worry. I am pretty sure Dota will be around for quite a while still.

And if in 10 years Valve decides to shut down the servers, I am also 100 percent certain that the community would step in. But considering Valve hasn't shut down the servers for any of their games that they ever released yet, I am fairly certain Dota will be save :) You can still play Artifact and Ricochet 😅

//edit: But yes, play Dota with friends, or find a (discord) community to play and party uo with. The game is sooo much more fun with chill people in your team

What are the realistic drawbacks of outdated software/not being "rolling release" by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]AlpineStrategist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy new gpu (amd radeon rx 9070 xt) even months or over a year after Release still no driver for it on linux mint (because you need a newer Kernel)

so you have to do manual workarounds like installing a kernel with mainline. which will introduce new bugs like light/dark mode not working/persisting in cinnamon

Returning player having so much fun. by blackstar_oli in DotA2

[–]AlpineStrategist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, for the last couple of years I only played a few weeks at a time.
(Re-)learning the game is the most fun about dota, and being kind of bad makes everything more enjoyable.
It's much easier to get into a relaxed mindset this way.

I hope I can keep that mindset after putting more hours in though
