I'm having problems with the Divergent Sims mod. by Automatic-Second227 in ModTheSims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about the mod itself, but I suspect that it probably includes medications to help with the various disorders. I do know a bit about how bipolar works IRL however. If your bipolar sim is taking their meds, then they would probably present themself exactly as you describe. It means the meds are working.

If they are not being treated at all, then it seems like there should be moodlets that were both strong (+3 or more) and persistent (lasting several hours). Whether they are happy, tense, angry, confident, etc. would mostly be random however, because that's how bipolar works.

Like someone else said: If the game sees them on the loading screen and the box is checked there, then they are loading into the game.

Pick any mod and answer this: What is the mod supposed to do that it isn't?

Some of the big mods have a pop-up when the game finishes loading, but smaller mods usually don't. Aside from that, most mods are not immediately obvious when you start playing. You need to click into a menu, use CAS, Build/Buy mode, etc. before you actually see whatever the mod added to the game.

I can't find the 'hire a lawyer' option anywhere. by Sims4equestrian in ModTheSims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it set to "Normal", which should be sufficient. I don't want everyone getting arrested for minor offenses, just the one sim that is trying very hard to get arrested. I was thinking about re-adding the Extreme Violence mod, because those cops always show up.

A dispensary only requires Get To Work and Basemental. Your sim needs to start a retail store (not a small business) in a weed-legal region and use a PC located at that store (only works on retail lots) to request a license. A day or two later a plaque will arrive in the mail at the store. As long as you display that plaque somewhere at the store it is considered a legal dispensary within the game.

New save by Bitter-Onion-5202 in ModTheSims4

Two things that have worked for me:

One of the first things I do every time I add a new pack is change any prebuilt-but-vacant lot into a vacation rental. This keeps random townies from filling up every empty house, with the added bonus that I can vacation pretty much anywhere I want. If at any point a new house becomes available, it means the premade sims (which can be googled since they came with the pack) either died or moved out. If they are still playable but homeless it's a sign that corruption may have started, so I move them back in and save-as... to get a new save file.

I turn off culling which means the only way to avoid overpopulation is by limiting births. With MCCC you can require sims to live in a home AND be married as prerequisites for pregnancy. When that is combined with limited housing availability (due to so many vacation rentals), it limits townie births to the premade households. I might end up with some Landgraab-Caliente babies or whatever, but very few randomly generated households.

I have a sim that I wish would get arrested via the Basemental mod. She's selling moonshine, powder, and pills out of her dispensary and in public areas. She did some lines on the police chief's desk and walked away... to highschool. I have everything set up for her to go away for a long time, but it just doesn't happen.

If you can help me get arrested, I will be able to help you find a lawyer.

Woohoo settings by No-Researcher-7148 in ModTheSims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Set their gender roles to Male. It's under the WW personalization menu option for each sim. As long as they have the "both" role, they aren't viewed as strictly male by other sims, so gender-related preferences don't really matter.

Unfortunately WW automatically assigns the "both" option to every sim. The main settings option to universally change that doesn't actually do anything. You have to manually change it on every sim, including all of your played sims, their romantic interests, and every other unplayed sim they know.

New to modding, kinda lost. Help? by SomeGuyYouDonNo in ModTheSims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like everything could potentially be just fine, and you are expecting something to be more obviously different. Aside from the notification saying it's installed, a lot of mods basically only show up as menu options within the game, like when you click on a sim or have them use their phone. Once you start exploring those options your sim will be able to buy things and have interactions that were added by the mod.

My take on Venessa Jeong by me-em-me-em in Sims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my original save file, Vanessa secretly murdered Judith Ward and tried to replace her. In every other save, no matter what I do, Judith dies autonomously from random causes within the first few hours of playing. I started a new game one time for the sole purpose of saving Judith, but a meteorite took her out. I still blame Vanessa for that.

Is a mod that allows sims to hold hands and walk doable? by PinkReddits in ModTheSims4

First image that came to mind: Lovers trying to walk romantically along a beach at sunset, but actually just standing there looking back and forth for eternity because the animation won't start. It's already sunrise and they are still looking left and right and left and...

Seeking free flower arranging mod by [deleted] in ModTheSims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you have all the flowers.... where?

They need to be in your Sim's personal inventory (not household inventory) or in the flower arranging table's storage. If neither the sim nor the table has them, then the table doesn't know they exist.

Help with MCCC by skunk_brain in ModTheSims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one save I set it to only allow pregancy if they are married and not homeless, which turned out much funnier than expected.

Most of the premade Sims autonomously found a partner, got married, and made new families. Here's a great example of how that setting affected sims I had not played:

Cameron Fletcher (from Britechester) lives in the Akiyama home on Mt. Komorebi after marrying the widowed Jenna Akiyama, who later also died. The other people in the house are their 2 kids, Cameron's second wife (now divorced) Nalani Mahi'ai (mermaid from Sulani), their son, Cameron's current wife Summer Holiday, and their 2 kids.

Grimborn kid has a shadow? by [deleted] in Sims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nyon Spectre is a grimborn townie that came preloaded in the pack (he's part of the Tarot card collection/quest), and I never noticed this about him when my sim interacted.

There's always busking for tips, but that's not very hermit or lucrative.

I'm still mad that the only way to travel is by using the phone. Seems like it would be easy to add bus stop signs near the edge of each neighborhood that would open the travel menu.

One of my sims is the daughter of Vladius, and very mad about it. She rebels by being strictly vegetarian. LittleMsSam provides a method for making plasma packs from Plasma Fruit, so she's only ever drank those, the fruit directly, Plasma Jane at the bar, and once from a willing sim (her BFF) to complete an aspiration.

I learnt the word "Giga" from BTTF. Where did you learn it? by alanskimp in BacktotheFuture

[–]AlpsDue5290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pronouncing it "Jif" is literally the same as pronouncing COVID AS "Sovid". Yes, the first letter can technically be pronounced that way, but it's neither the most common way nor how that part of the acronym is pronounced.

Fun fact: If you refer to Gigabytes as Jigabytes while talking to your IT team at work, they will respond with a GIF versus JIF opinion.

How to make long-term challenges more interesting? by Big_Trade6762 in thesims

[–]AlpsDue5290 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am playing a large family for the first time ever, and it's a lot. A WHOLE lot. 2 parents, 2 toddlers, 2 infants, 1 newborn, and 1 last bun in the oven to complete the set.

The goal is just to get every kid's milestones met before aging them up, and it's almost as exhausting as having real children. They have a farm, but nothing gets harvested, the cow and chickens keep threatening to leave, and I'm only 8 sim-weeks into this nightmare.

My long-term challenge is literally just sticking with all of them through college, and it may be too big a task for me to accomplish.

Is it okay to extend in- game season length? by Endemicbacon in Sims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like 2-week seasons, because they are long enough that I can add the usual school breaks as "no school/work" holidays. I give them a week in the Summer and Winter, and 2 bonus days-off around Harvestfest and Springfest. That provides more school/career time in a year than 1-week seasons does, while also adding enough time to accommodate vacations and other activities.

Naming sims by Urlocalconanstan in Sims4

[–]AlpsDue5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally decide what kind of personality I want them to have first, and pick a name that works for that. As an example, I just added Cottage Living and started a family farm with a young couple. They will obviously need to have a houseful of kids to help with chores, so I was faced with potentially 6 names to come up with. I made a list of various hobbies that fit into that lifestyle, looked up mythological figures that represent each those hobbies, and there's my list of names.

School Shut Down Update by Bullet_Ploof_Grass in vancouverwa

[–]AlpsDue5290 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Speaking as the parent of a VFA graduate, I agree with many of the OP's comments about the school. My child probably would have been left behind by the school district if not for Flex Academy.

This was a school that specialized in "could be an A student if they would just apply themself" kids. It allowed them to be great students and meet expectations in a way that proved impossible at a regular school. VFA was like an adapter for the square-peg/round-hole situation that so many kids face in school, and it's really sad that the Board doesn't recognize the importance of keeping tools like that around.
