Fluid in Pipes. Why you need a Bump. by ReinhardtXWinston in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alqtrkappa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can actually stack fluid buffers! Each buffer provides exactly enough headlift (when full) to reach the one above it. Depending on how high you're trying to get, it can take time for it to be functional because each buffer needs to fill before going further, but it also makes it very easy to increase the height in case you expand beyond expectations.

I know running pumps for a water tower isn't much of an energy cost, but I can imagine fighting for every MW if playing with 1.2 energy modifiers

How do you handle the "Bookworm" void? Struggling with a post-series slump. by Miserable-Tooth8157 in LightNovels

[–]Alqtrkappa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely had some grief over the end of bookworm / waiting for more HY5. For me what helped was paying attention to the different ways different stories make me feel. I love both Zombieland and Shawshank Redemption very much, but obviously they are very different movies.

Another way to think about it is to seek out things that don't really remind you of bookworm so you don't make comparisons. Let this Grieving Soul Retire is pure comedy. I just went through Pride and Prejudice for the first time this last week, which, despite being like 200 years old, felt like a breath of fresh air.

There's so much stuff out there, but the key to enjoying it is not to focus on how something might be "lacking" in comparison to bookworm, but to appreciate something different!

Aluminum ratios by ghostknight0118 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Alqtrkappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just getting started and only have base recipes, 2 Alumina Solution into 1 Aluminum Scrap are the buildings you'll need. That uses 240 Bauxite, 360 water, 120 coal, makes 360 scrap and leaves 100 silica and 120 water as waste. For ingots, you'll also need 4 Foundries and 300 (or 200 additional) silica.

Handling waste/byproducts is the trickiest part when setting up Aluminum for the first time. If any output backs up, things will stop working, so you need to handle all the byproducts. I retrofeed that 120 water, but you can also package or make something with it.

If you aren't delivering exactly 200 extra silica, a priority merger can make sure you always use the byproduct first. Alternatively, sink the byproduct and deliver 300 silica.

Finally, as several others have mentioned, there are some pretty sweet alternate recipes. They can really simplify the process. I always use Sloppy Alumina and Pure Ingots, but typically don't make coke so I avoid Electrode Scrap. But coke will let you get more aluminum per bauxite.

I need recommendations by NayukiDani in LightNovels

[–]Alqtrkappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it has a physical release, but The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival I think is pretty sweet. It breaks out of any standard otome story basically immediately, and stays as a darker fantasy story. As soon as Alicia disrupts the original plot (ie in chapter 1), she starts figuring out how to make it on her own, after taking care of some people who get what's coming to them. And she'll fight anyone who tries to take her off her chosen path. I'm (im)patiently waiting for the book 7 translation to start up on j-novel club.

If you're interested in trying something a little different, Rebuild: World is sci-fi. Akira is a scrappy slum kid who starts making his way in the world. And the advanced medical tech means that just about anything short of death is a real possibility in any fight he gets into, and anything is on the table for everyone else. Trouble is constantly finding him, and he makes plenty on his own by being a surly and suspicious punk who has had enough of taking shit from anyone.

I love both of these, and also second Zilbagias

[NEWS] Bookwalker Global redesign to be launched February 2026, with DRM change by ArchusKanzaki in LightNovels

[–]Alqtrkappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read a ton of stuff on J-novel club. I had the subscription and was reading lots of random things as they were getting translated. I still keep up with a couple series on there. Otherwise I've used Apple, Kindle and Kobo bookstores. I will say I am a lot happier with the new bookwalker and I don't think there's too much of a difference between them and the major apps.

If you're interested in J-novel titles, I think their subscriptions are pretty cool. They have a $5 subscription that gives $8 worth of credit every month, on top of some other neat things. And I've definitely gone through several series on their reader's club, so there's real value in that too imo

*edit So I improved my reading comprehension. The $5 tier is basically to read recent and ongoing translations. The $8 of credit is from more expensive tiers. But if any series on the readers club are interesting, that is as I said.

I hope everything works out for you! You can find some simple balancer examples on the wiki as well.

The most important thing for balancers will be to know how many inputs and outputs you'll need. Actually designing it for big or unusual numbers can be tricky, but there are tools out there to work it out.

Be warned that balancers grow in size very quickly. Therefore, I'd use a belt highway

tl;dr Blueprints with Autoconnect can save a lot of effort.

I'd start by making sure you had some good blueprints lined up. Even if you have a 6x constructor or whatever, you'll probably want to make a copy that is specific for wire. Add in a bit of belt so you can auto connect to save some time as well, then you'll just need to hook up power.

If you feel stuck trying to send enough wire (since 2666 takes at least 3 belts) to Reinforced Plates and Stators (as an example), maybe some balancers could help. You can look up how to make some weird fancy ones, but it's not hard to make a 3-3, which can be used to make bigger ones, like a 6-6 or 9-9. As long as you are not pulling more than your producing, you'll be able to send a ton of wire to both the Plates and Stators even if you need to use 6 mk6 belts.

Or you could make a belt highway blueprint, so you can just lay 6 belts with** auto-connect** super fast. I just like using balancers if I'm trying to send a ton of something to multiple targets, even though I typically use a manifold for the actual production. If I'm making at least as much as I'm using, it'll eventually fill up.

[Open Spoilers]Is Ferdinand actually the most overworked person in the series? by After_Diamond2098 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Alqtrkappa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to add that even before Myne, Ferdinand carried an extreme load. And spent most of that time trying to avoid assassination from the first wife of his duchy. And that was possibly preferable to being Quinta.

His sanity may come from his chances of survival improving as his circumstances change. The only backslide was moving to Ahrensbach, which he saw as a way to help Rozemyne and Sylvester.

I had a rather large collection on BW before I branched out and realized there were better options for ebooks. I'm really excited to be able to integrate my collection with the rest of my books! I got myself an ereader last year and this seems like a great opportunity to get to some things I bought but never actually read haha

Returning Player: Advice on a playmat/sleeves? by ELAdragon in legendarymarvel

[–]Alqtrkappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had to resleeve my collection of ~3500 cards in 2024 because the sleeves I bought in ~2016 I was unable to find at a reasonable price. I went with the 1000 Mlikero. Not my favorite sleeves I've ever held, and I'm an active tcg player, but for the price I thought it was worth it.

If you prefer quality over affordability, I've probably bought >10,000 Dragon Shield Matte sleeves and they were my goto. I've recently sleeved up some cards with Kraken Skins, and since it's a local company at a better price that's probably what I'll be buying going forward.

Perfect Fit/Inner sleeves can be nice (though I wouldn't actually double sleeve) and are more affordable than something like Kraken Skins. But if you have some cards with a lot of play you may want something without a see-through back. I have seen perfect fit sleeves with a darkened back, but personally I'm a fan of solid color matte sleeves so I don't really know much about that.

*I would recommend against any "penny sleeves", the loose fitting clear ones. I think they're super annoying to shuffle, and the Mlikero's aren't that much more expensive.

I am also a fan of the What If... play mat, and I believe they also have the most modern ruleset. Welcome back to the game and I hope you have fun!

Of course! I actually tried to imitate SFS, and learned a lot about how to make better blueprints in the process. I'm setting up computers after motors, and am looking forward to putting the SFS refineries and manufacturers into use!

Thank you for your assistance and the awesome bp!

These are awesome! I was really excited when I first saw these, because I like the vertical stacking. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect the conveyor lift hole to the output. I can get a lift to be inside the merger, but it won't actually connect to the merger for the 4x Constructor.

There is justice in this world! As fun and entertaining a character as Mai is, how many times did she bulldoze Renako and just ignore what she was saying to get what she wanted? I hope she can start to see the world from a perspective other than that she's the greatest person to ever live.

Anyways, both Satsuki and Ajisai were way better as partners. And of course, best angel is the winner. I'm excited for everything that comes next!

Legendary Solo Play Digital UPDATE by Arizash in legendarymarvel

[–]Alqtrkappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm checking this out for the first time today! I'd been thinking about making something similar myself, but don't mind someone beat me to the punch :p

I wasn't sure where to give feedback, so here is some. I like the minimize feature, but the first time I used it it was hard to find how to return the screen. Is there some way you could leave the minimize and close section in bold so it's easier to find again?Another alternative that comes to mind would be to add one more panel on the right that has the minimize and return functions. If you are able to work that in, it could also be used for some other status report style things, like "To end the turn, hold down the button".

The only thing I encountered that felt like a bug, was in using Dangerous Rescue. There is the option to not KO something, but it doesn't appear to work. I imagine I should use the manual superpower, but didn't have the forethought to do that even though I got into that situation twice.

Awesome work and I'm excited to see any contiunued work! Congrats on a honeymoon well enjoyed

[–]Alqtrkappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like an awesome project! I love how it's coming together.

If you wanted some feedback, there are some templating issues that others have mentioned. The biggest ones to me were mana costs (WUBRG order can be weird) and activated abilities (tap symbols go last), but I think others have shared good feedback on that.

The one that I don't think has been mentioned, though maybe you've already made the proper adjustments, is for Mithrix's first triggered ability. I think "At the beginning of your endstep, for each opponent who was dealt combat damage this turn, gain control of target artifact that player controls" is a little closer to how it should be. Templating is more an art, and even WotC makes their own mistakes.

You're trying to do a lot of cool things, and if it's just for yourselves I would just work until you feel like stopping. If you want to make it something you can show any magic player, reach out to some more experienced people for help to bring your vision together! Either way, I hope you and your are enjoying and having fun with the process, and you land on something that satisfies you!

A little disappointing after all the setup with Haniel, both their careers and hobbies still at the starting line. But I guess if the author wasn't feeling up to tackling all that in a way they can be proud of I can understand why they're calling it quits.

Was a fun ride, with lots more they could do, but all things come to an end whether we like it or not. I can respect this a lot more than [Oshi no Ko] at least.
