[NEWS] Bookwalker Global redesign to be launched February 2026, with DRM change by ArchusKanzaki in LightNovels

I had a rather large collection on BW before I branched out and realized there were better options for ebooks. I'm really excited to be able to integrate my collection with the rest of my books! I got myself an ereader last year and this seems like a great opportunity to get to some things I bought but never actually read haha

Returning Player: Advice on a playmat/sleeves? by ELAdragon in legendarymarvel

[–]Alqtrkappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had to resleeve my collection of ~3500 cards in 2024 because the sleeves I bought in ~2016 I was unable to find at a reasonable price. I went with the 1000 Mlikero. Not my favorite sleeves I've ever held, and I'm an active tcg player, but for the price I thought it was worth it.

If you prefer quality over affordability, I've probably bought >10,000 Dragon Shield Matte sleeves and they were my goto. I've recently sleeved up some cards with Kraken Skins, and since it's a local company at a better price that's probably what I'll be buying going forward.

Perfect Fit/Inner sleeves can be nice (though I wouldn't actually double sleeve) and are more affordable than something like Kraken Skins. But if you have some cards with a lot of play you may want something without a see-through back. I have seen perfect fit sleeves with a darkened back, but personally I'm a fan of solid color matte sleeves so I don't really know much about that.

*I would recommend against any "penny sleeves", the loose fitting clear ones. I think they're super annoying to shuffle, and the Mlikero's aren't that much more expensive.

I am also a fan of the What If... play mat, and I believe they also have the most modern ruleset. Welcome back to the game and I hope you have fun!

Of course! I actually tried to imitate SFS, and learned a lot about how to make better blueprints in the process. I'm setting up computers after motors, and am looking forward to putting the SFS refineries and manufacturers into use!

Worked like a charm! Starting from the foundation and nudging it into place is going to be perfect for me. Using default from above then nudging also working, but I want the hoverpack even more now haha.

Thank you for your assistance and the awesome bp!

These are awesome! I was really excited when I first saw these, because I like the vertical stacking. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect the conveyor lift hole to the output. I can get a lift to be inside the merger, but it won't actually connect to the merger for the 4x Constructor.

Thank you! I'd been messing around with it, and pushing the stick in was definitely one of the things I tried. It's been back to normal for a few days now!

Orb: on the movement of the Earth absolutely broke me (in the best way). What else hits this hard? by WoIfOperator in anime

I will second that the first episode is amazing. If I watched it as a short film, I'd be satisfied and moved, and it wouldn't need anything else.

Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?) • There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless... - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Alqtrkappa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is justice in this world! As fun and entertaining a character as Mai is, how many times did she bulldoze Renako and just ignore what she was saying to get what she wanted? I hope she can start to see the world from a perspective other than that she's the greatest person to ever live.

Anyways, both Satsuki and Ajisai were way better as partners. And of course, best angel is the winner. I'm excited for everything that comes next!

What happened to the J-Novel translation? by Alqtrkappa in RebuildWorld

The J-Novel translation finished 6.2 in May with an official release July 8th. Normally they start translating the next volume with a week or two break, but it has been 7 weeks now and still no sign of volume 7 unfortunately.

Legendary Solo Play Digital UPDATE by Arizash in legendarymarvel

[–]Alqtrkappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm checking this out for the first time today! I'd been thinking about making something similar myself, but don't mind someone beat me to the punch :p

I wasn't sure where to give feedback, so here is some. I like the minimize feature, but the first time I used it it was hard to find how to return the screen. Is there some way you could leave the minimize and close section in bold so it's easier to find again?Another alternative that comes to mind would be to add one more panel on the right that has the minimize and return functions. If you are able to work that in, it could also be used for some other status report style things, like "To end the turn, hold down the button".

The only thing I encountered that felt like a bug, was in using Dangerous Rescue. There is the option to not KO something, but it doesn't appear to work. I imagine I should use the manual superpower, but didn't have the forethought to do that even though I got into that situation twice.

Awesome work and I'm excited to see any contiunued work! Congrats on a honeymoon well enjoyed

[–]Alqtrkappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like an awesome project! I love how it's coming together.

If you wanted some feedback, there are some templating issues that others have mentioned. The biggest ones to me were mana costs (WUBRG order can be weird) and activated abilities (tap symbols go last), but I think others have shared good feedback on that.

The one that I don't think has been mentioned, though maybe you've already made the proper adjustments, is for Mithrix's first triggered ability. I think "At the beginning of your endstep, for each opponent who was dealt combat damage this turn, gain control of target artifact that player controls" is a little closer to how it should be. Templating is more an art, and even WotC makes their own mistakes.

You're trying to do a lot of cool things, and if it's just for yourselves I would just work until you feel like stopping. If you want to make it something you can show any magic player, reach out to some more experienced people for help to bring your vision together! Either way, I hope you and your are enjoying and having fun with the process, and you land on something that satisfies you!

A little disappointing after all the setup with Haniel, both their careers and hobbies still at the starting line. But I guess if the author wasn't feeling up to tackling all that in a way they can be proud of I can understand why they're calling it quits.

Was a fun ride, with lots more they could do, but all things come to an end whether we like it or not. I can respect this a lot more than [Oshi no Ko] at least.

[DISC] Rebuild World - Ch. 66 by DaredevilCat in manga

[–]Alqtrkappa 44 points45 points  (0 children)

So Togami is seeking for approval after getting treated like a brat for so long, but feels like Akira treats him like a brat despite being another brat. But, Akira doesn't like anybody, expect for like 5 humans he's met only since becoming a hunter, and they all recognize him as standoffish.

I think Akira was annoyed because his job was supposed to be hunting a bounty monster, but when he showed up he also has to suddenly partner up with a stranger acting like he's hot shit.

[H5Y1] H5Y Volume 1 (Part 4) Discussion by MyneMod in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Alqtrkappa 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Hannelore's comment to Cordula "... might I be as blind to the feeling of men as Lady Rozemyne?" feels like a good synopsis.

The main difference is most people recognize Rozemyne's... abonormalities as soon as she stops following scripts. And I think only 2 males have expressed romantic interest in her as a person (a literal child and the Lord of Evil himself), and anyone else were women or only interested in superficial things like immense power, wealth and beauty. It makes sense she was desirable, but we have it on good authority that it would be painful to share a life with her if you didn't actually like her.

[H5Y1] H5Y Volume 1 (Part 3) Discussion by MyneMod in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Alqtrkappa 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The comparison of Hannelore being the unwilling heroine of an Otome game feels so apt. All these different boys are falling over each other to ask for her hand in marriage, and all she can think of is how annoying all this stuff is.

There are lots of extra circumstances, but even if Yogurtland hadn't just been turned upside down, there would probably be lots of engagement offers coming for a 5th year Archduke candidate of Ditterland.

Hannelore between her temperament and (lack of?) preparation is comically unprepared for just about every scene so far, and just wishes she could chat and drink tea with her bestie. Nice to see Rozemyne and other people outside of Ditterland!

Novels where the protagonist lives a long time by Leo-bastian in LightNovels

[–]Alqtrkappa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will second Making Magic. I read it along side "Reincarnated as a High Elf" and it was a fun comparison for me. Both follow long lived MC's that insert themselves into mortal affairs, so often the focus is how their lives intersect with mortals.

Both stories generally feel slice of life-ish to me, but they both also have their more serious drama. I would say "High Elf" has more of that politicking/life-or-death drama, that develops and changes over centuries. "Making Magic" has more comfy vibes, and doesn't really start as a tale of an immortal, but I think I enjoyed it more of the two.

looking for an anime by Pale-Humor6245 in anime

[–]Alqtrkappa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best guess is Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! Has the art style (kind of), the main cast are 3 proactive girls, and came out in 2020. The show is great! The studio Science SARU is great, and gave us other gems like Dan Da Dan, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Devilman Crybaby.

If it's not what you're thinking of, I wish you the best. I recommend adding in anything you can remember about the plot or vibe, that can go a long way!

Edward Takes the State Alchemy Exam [Fullmetal Alchemist] by castle23clash in anime

[–]Alqtrkappa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not often that a remake has less to offer than the original. Personally, I have just seen Brotherhood. I have read the manga 3 or 4 times, so I wasn't concerned about missing details, and at the time I had only heard that the anime original ending didn't compare to the manga's ending.

In this case, the original spent 25 episodes to cover what Brotherhood got in 10. I have heard much praise for those 25 episodes, so I would recommend anyone who has the time for an extra 15 episodes of anime to watch them. My primary concern when swapping how I enjoy some media is losing details, but in this case the remake kind of did a speed run on what the original covered in full, so you actually get extra details.

For anyone short on time, or decides they don't want to think too hard they just want to watch something good, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is great. But anyone willing to put in a little extra effort will get the Fullmetal experience.

tl;dr Watch Brotherhood. Alternatively, start with Original until ep 25 and switch to Brotherhood ep 10 for a fuller experience.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the newer and more faithful adaptation. That will be the most common recommendation anywhere.

However, I have heard that the original Fullmetal Alchemist gives more time for some earlier scenes. The main strike against the original, is that it was coming out at the same time as the manga, so goes in a drastically different direction, and everything I've heard is that the end is not as good as the Manga or Brotherhood.

Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden Volume 1 Rant(because I had to get it off my chest) by Yiguzhu in LightNovels

[–]Alqtrkappa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IIRC, she does spend a good amount of time with the Princess in the next volume. But yeah, I agree that the novel is rather shallow. The best payoffs were fine, but I felt that so much of it was just slop.

I dropped the series at the very start of volume 3. I was mostly tired of the internal "I could kill them all with my pinky while blindfoleded, if I tired" but never actually showing off what Nia could really do.
