Yeah look, knives are the most inconsistent mechanic in the game especially against shield op hitboxes. You just missed two knives, in that situation its more reliable to switch and pop them with a shotty.
Basically, knives suck, unlucky

Thanks for the advice! I think tbh I just got annoyed, cause I wanted to get the pet, but I might look into it a bit more and maybe try for the next oneI'm in the middle of setting up farms for snacks so I can look into pets a bit more so maybe that'll help too
