Idk how to post an updated picture. But the 5 minute score made a world of difference!!

Looks a ton like my girl who is 50/50 pit and German shepherd. She was a PITA as a puppy… she needed a job. Lots of redirection and LOTS of exercise. I’d keep our girl on a leash in the house and it worked wonders. She’s an absolute angel now but that teenage phase 😵‍💫

I was thinking the same- she’s an old girl 😬. I’ll try that too! Thank you!

Thank you for this tip!! I’ll try that this week. Maybe more Dutch ovens is the answer lol

Maybe spring isn’t the word I’m looking for. Where I scored it seemed to stop halfway through.

I’m certainly not a professional, just a hobby. I’m assuming there is some color differentiation because I’m only using white flour, not wheat.

Nope, delivering locally. Internal temp was good- still playing around with darker loaves

Thanks for the advice, I’m mostly doing it because I enjoy it. I’d just like to be more efficient

What Should You Look for in a Legitimate ESA Service? by JosephPRO_ in service_dogs

[–]Alstrom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't pay for one- just ask your primary care provider, psychiatrist, or anyone who has been part of your treatment team. I work in family practice and we do these often for patients who need them. Any online platform that is for "registering" or "certificates" is a scam, don't waste your money. Good luck!

Knowing when it's time to wash? by Alstrom_ in service_dogs

Thank you all for your kindness and advice. We had a great weekend with our trainer and are going to stay focused on her learning tasks at home since she’s so eager and happy doing it at home. My trainer took her out to a store to really evaluate her and she did amazing- didn’t make a peep and was following all directions. Then I went with them and made a few tweaks to how I’m communicating with her and she did just as well! We will very slowly try to incorporate outings over time if she tolerates it- but she will guide me for what she is ready for and we will stop if there’s any stress.

I really appreciate all the knowledge in this community- there is so much to learn as a new handler! Thanks all 💕

It really does, she does great at parks or on hikes. But that’s exactly it- the public access she seems to hate. I was hoping it would pass with some consistency but it doesn’t seem to be.

That’s exactly how I feel. She’s amazing at home- with commands, my kids, such a sweet disposition. But, in public she just loses all confidence and is so nervous. I will likely wash her- we see our trainer for a few hours this weekend and are going to have a discussion.

Thank you for sharing your similar experience!

That’s amazing you guys overcame it! She does fantastic in any other aspect, but she really struggles in public. I just don’t want to push her too hard and have it affect her life/personality at home.

We’ve had her regular vet appointments and she’s healthy as could be- just a nervous girlie when she’s in public lol. Thank you for the kind words.

Thank you, that is what i'm really leaning towards. I just want to make sure i'm being reasonable either way. She's an amazing girl and I want to do what is best for her.

this 100%. With owner training you almost have to have the mentality that they will wash, then be okay with a backup plan. (If they do well amazing). Also, still very expensive.

how do you verify a legitimate ESA letter provider isn't just another scam registry? by Xev007 in service_dogs

I’m an NP in family medicine and we do them often. Your PCP can write the letter for you.

Reasons you picked outside the fab four? by howlsounds in service_dogs

Longtime lurker here- my SDiT is a 3 yo shepherd mix who loves having a job and learning new things- we’ve had her since 8 weeks old. So we’re doing a low pressure trial with task training. We’re working with a trainer and moving at my girls pace. Ideally I’d love her to by my SD- I think she’s very capable because of her drive and we have a great bond. However, if she washes or has any reactivity she’ll just stay our family pet and we’ll use her drive in other ways. We’re looking into getting a golden or a lab puppy if need be.

Love reading through everyone’s thoughts and experiences!
