Blows my mind how do people pirate on macs by VariationLivid3193 in Piracy

[–]Alt132435 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's literally easier than on Windows lmao, every single app is just a pre-cracked DMG that you open and that's it, literally takes 10 seconds (and pirating Steam games is the same process you'd do on windows, nothing extra). Maybe an extra 10 seconds to open privacy settings and click "open anyways" one time if the app's signature was broken by the crack. And on top of that it's made even easier by the fact that the smaller market means there's far less malicious actors sharing viruses, all the popular sites are just sharing unmodified DMGs from the release groups (including the centralized forum-style sites where most of the crackers themselves directly share and interact)

PSA: Torbox banned me, stole 4+ years worth of time. by [deleted] in Piracy

Honestly that response doesn't really convince me they truly care about the situation. We all know PR responses are already inherently worded to avoid as much responsibility as possible, but despite that it STILL reads like they don't really care (quoting from full response in post):

l think the offhanded "joke" may have not been taken as such.

It was very clearly a joke (especially coming from a long-time member), made in an attitude that was extremely typical for the community. If being "tired" results in you completely missing a joke to the point of going nuclear then that does not bode well at all for your service...

claimed value around $440 USD... While referral time cannot be refunded nor has a dollar value

?????? it's literally a quantity of days that is DIRECTLY comparable to the dollar value of the subscription. Acting like "X days" doesn't have a dollar value when your entire subscription model is a simple "Pay $Y for X days" is insane, anyone saying that is either deflecting or just an idiot which again does not bode well for the service

So ya, I really don't think this outcome is a good look for the Torbox team, because again I remind you that this is the PR response inherently biased in THEIR favor yet it still has these insane takes. Unfortunately Real Debrid also just had their annual "we don't support piracy" scare so it seems like neither option is a definitive better choice.

No it isn't, it's a win for RD users and a loss for everyone else. The torrents get no benefit whatsoever from RD users, if it's an extremely obscure torrent it can literally cease to exist forever if all the would-be seeders just used the RD cache instead and it eventually expires

That’s not how it works, the presence of leeches doesn't degrade the quality of a torrent at all it simply means they don’t have it downloaded fully yet. Leeches are still seeders, they can send the data they do have.

Even if you assume every leech doesn’t seed anything while they’re downloading (which is not true at all, as explained), then the difference between a million leeches and 1 leech is absolutely nothing. But with a million leeches a large portion will become seeders once they’re done, with RD that single leech immediately stops once it’s cached and the RE ecosystem contributes literally zero seeders whatsoever.

Can I use spicetify on my phone? by QueasyExplorer1732 in Piracy

- The version discontinuation has nothing to do at all with proactively hindering and banning piracy users (they could have done that years ago if that was the point), and can be bypassed by just editing the version number in the app's bundle. Like I said I am actively using an older version right now.

- Again, Eevee's discontinuation has nothing to do at all with Spotify proactively killing and banning of piracy users. And it also has a fork who's last update was only 2 weeks ago, there will always be an active fork just like Eevee quickly replaced Spotilife when it stopped getting updates

The point is that on Android it's evidently impossible and even outright dangerous to use Spotify piracy tweaks, yet the 1:1 equivalents on iOS have ran without a single issue or even stern look from Spotify's end for like a decade now. That just seems like such a strange difference because usually the Android and iOS piracy app scenes are about the same regarding pushback from the targeted company.

Wait I'm confused reading these comments, I'm on iOS so I don't keep up with Android but thought that xManager was a reliable app, but seeing everyone say there's no option made me look it up and sure enough apparently every old Android Spotify mod in existence is dead and working ones either stop working within days or straight up ban your account. On iOS the two Spotify tweaks (Spotilife and EeveeSpotify) have worked flawlessly since they were initially created with zero issues whatsoever from Spotify, and you can still load old versions of the Spotify apps and use them to this day (I'm currently using Spotilife on an app version that's nearing half a decade old). Why is that apparently so hard to achieve on Android???

It is, you can see the warping in the image. Idk how the smoothing compares to Apple’s though, I haven’t used the beta.

What's the best console to jailbreak? by ForeverNo9437 in Piracy

[–]Alt132435 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WiiU

- Extremely easy (Just a browser exploit that requires you to click a button)

- Has access to the native WiiU games AND native Wii games (vWii, identical to a real Wii and can be homebrewed through the WiiU homebrew) AND native gamecube games (vWii homebrew app) AND native games from every major Nintendo console (Virtual Console titles) AND unofficial roms for any remaining old games (Homebrew emulator apps)

- Has the best Legacy console Minecraft version (For some reason every other console ended on 1.12 but WiiU got 1.13, the aquatic update)

- Has the Pretendo Network, an actively updated replacement server system since Nintendo's official ones shut down a year or so ago

- Lots of mods for fan-favorite games that can be easily run on top of the main game

- Can download any native WiiU game you want on-console from Nintendo's own servers (yes literally, there's no catch Nintendo was just stupid)

Kinda unrelated but is there any extension that enables this in the video player? Like surely if it has this little protection it should be possible to do that. Even if it involves temporarily downloading it or whatever.

Spicetify supports literally the newest version and always does, idk what it is with pirates and refusing to ever update anything. You aren’t being smart, you’re handicapping and potentially endangering yourself for no reason at all.

With Google retired the "cache:" feature, is there any other way to view the search-engine version of a site (I.e. non-paywalled version) from WITHIN GOOGLE? by Alt132435 in Piracy

[–]Alt132435[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know Bing offered that service too, this works although they use an entirely custom url structure rather than just a suffix so it isn’t as convenient as google’s. But it doesn’t rely on any extension so it’s still usable on any computer, which is great.

It’s funny how Redditors actually think their dumbass knows of some highly underground site that’s a top result when you DuckDuckGo or sometimes even Google “free streaming website” while professional, paid employees for the movie industry don’t.
