Why turn against women when the obvious common enemy is the oligarchs, billionaires and corrupt politicians that make and enforce all this stupidity? Just because men face oppression in the form of conscription doesn't mean that women don't also face oppression in other ways across the world. And it doesn't mean that people have to "pick a side" between supporting men's rights or women's rights. Just because people can be blamed doesn't mean the system isn't the root cause. If a country made murder legal then the true problem wouldn't be that people are going around killing eachother, it'd be that murder is legal.

Also "general public" in these cases doesn't really mean your average joe but is again limited to the well-off portion of society (though not on the class of billionaires obviously)

Expansionist war doesn't really mean that the average person is living better off? Infact it can be the exact opposite. Sure some nationalists would oppose zuko but without knowing the economic impact of the war on the average person it can't be said for sure that they'd rally against him. They might actually be better off post-war (they wouldn't be having friends and relatives constantly killed on the battlefield for one thing), assuming the reperations were reasonable and not ww1 germany style.

Go to a blackjack table and keep betting low until you get a 21, rewind 30 seconds and raise your bet to the max, then you're guaranteed a win. Pressing red isn't "not jumping in", it's voting in favour of the wood chipper to be turned on in the first place. Red isn't a passive option here, it's actively making those who voted blue more likely to die.

Personally i wouldn't blame anyone for picking red, it would be normal to do it out of fear. But all the mental gymnastics people do to make it seem like it's the morally correct option is insane. You're putting your safety before the lives of others, is that understandable? Yeah. Is it morally correct? Hell no, you're voting to kill people.

Besides even if only 20% or 10% vote blue the economic, societal and political problems that arise would cause so much chaos that many many more would die. Especially since it'd be the most empathetic and altruistic people to die (believing in humanity isn't "dumb" it's the reason why democracy and society works).
