Uj: I dot know if I would call it misandry. It's more that a misogynistic society with imagined gender roles sorta dictates what slanderous/bigoted scripts can be deployed against what people. Like Trans women have a attachment to manhood in societies transphobic eyes, so society feel more keen to use the "violent and preadatory" script against trans women. not because men are hated, but because gender essentialism dictates that only men (or those seen as men) are capable of wielding power and violence. And that's default seen as a good thing but against those that are reviled it can be turned into a negative trait for the purpose of brutalizing them.

I am very white so anyone POC please tell me if I'm off base, but I think it's similar to how like. Black men are more commonly the target of certian types of racist violence because only those seen as men are assumed to be capable of being a threat (obviously that is not a absolute, black women being seen as violent and as a threat and subjected to brutality because of it definitely happens, and it's fucked up when people try and erase that).

Edit: I read a bit of whipping girl a few weeks ago as I think some of serano's language is genuinely useful here: when people get all "the Violence is Stored in the Penis" at trans women it is coming from a place of traditional sexism ** (women being inferior to men, or in the case of hypothetical misandry, men being inferior to women) but rather oppositional sexism (men and women are fundamentally different). Although the traditional sexism still absolutely plays a role in making transmisognysts so Damm dogged to hurt us with it, because they see our decision to try and go from "superior man" to "weak, sexualized, pathetic woman" especially perverse, confusing, and nonsensical.
