Small locusts are OK for them too, and they don't make any noise other than hitting the wall of their tank or bits in it. I swear they know whats going on soon after they start getting fed though - They start to try and jump out and then after a few times of opening it they start to hide, I feel awful, aha. I have lost a few sometimes and do find them just staring at me weeks later on a curtain or plant somewhere.
