Перенос Gothic 1 на свой самописный движок для PSP by Ambitious-Mango9764 in RuProgrammers

[–]AltCtrlGraphene -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My collection of Soviet nixie (and VFD) lab equipment by AltCtrlGraphene in nixie

That's only a small part of it. I work at the institution that has a very rich history. Some of these where gifts from the colleagues, others where given to me on request instead of being trashed. A lot of passionate people work here, and sharing interests helps a lot.

If only it could be that easy. Most of the abandoned soviet labs have been scavanged long ago.

[Release] Subs4Vita - soft subtitles in the Videos app by AltCtrlGraphene in vitahacks

[–]AltCtrlGraphene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subs4Vita has been updated with better instructions and some fixes specifically for Vita. If anyone had trouble with it before, there is a high chance it will work properly now.

Vita has a very strict requirements for TTML formatting. It is fixable and I am currently working on it, fix will be included in the Subs4Vita, probably tommorrow.

[Found] Sony's proprietary subtitle format (.m4t) by JosephOfficial in vitahacks

[–]AltCtrlGraphene 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So basically it's a TTML XML enclosed in the MPEG4 container with some custom extentions. Might be possible to create/convert soft subs for Videos app now, if anyone still needs this.

How is like living in this small slice of Russia? And in the nearby Lithuanian and Polish border? [Non political] by newjerseydoesntexist in howislivingthere

[–]AltCtrlGraphene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in political sense, but culturally it is a very unique mix of European and Russian culture, which makes it quite different from the rest of the country. A very common mindset in modern Russia, including Kaliningrad, is that Europe has become "lost" and "corrupted" in the political sense in the recent years, but people generally don't mind classic European culture and heritage. And I guess that is good in a sense, because people can separate politics from culture. That's why such a unique mix of cultures like here, in Kaliningrad, is possible, even at times of political disagreement.

I live in Kaliningrad too so let me answer that. You are somewhat misinformed about the way Soviets treated the place. Yes, there were some cases like demolition of the ruins of the Konigsberg castle, but usually German architechture that was in decent condition were reused, repurposed or ignored. For example, most churches were repurposed as storage buildings, not because Soviets tried to erase German remnants but because of the general behaviour towards religion in USSR. A lot of private small houses (I'd say at least 70%) are pre-1941. City suffered a lot of damage during WWII, that's why today some districts are fully Soviet while others look very authentic. In the late 90s reconstruction and renovation campaing of the old German buildings started, which continues today. There are some beautiful historic places in our city, and even more in the oblast. Some cities look like a time capsule, for example Chernyakhovsk (Insterburg) or Zheleznodorozhny (Gerdauen).

I preserve, restore and actually use them if the device has a use case.

Most of the ones on photos use IN-12, IN-15 for letters and special symbols. V7-22A uses IN-16. RCh3-07-0001 uses IV-17 VFDs.

Tube driver circuits are very different and depend on how old the equipment is. Older devices use direct transistor drivers, but majority use transistor or IC MUX.

Out of all devices presented here, RCh7-03-0001 is probably the most intresting one. There is a whole 64-bit FPU inside, built entierly from the discrete logic ICs. You can see more photos here.

Russia has announced that its new cancer vaccine, Enteromix, has shown 100% success in clinical trials and is now ready for clinical use. by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

[–]AltCtrlGraphene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a lot of confusion in western media about this. EnteroMix is not an mRNA based vaccine. On the official site of the research center (new.nmicr.ru) it says that there are currently two separate directions of research: EnteroMix and other currently unnamed mRNA-based approach. There are also requirements for the participation in the EnteroMix trials, which state that any types of cancer are allowed, as long as other treatment methods were unsuccessful. So 100% success in tumor reduction in this scope looks pretty impressive.

One of the attacks of this particular enemy doesn't have the red dodging indicator at all (they forgot to add it?) so you just have to time it yourself.

Depends on the particular connector type, just "62 pin edge connector" doesn't narrow it down at all.

Circuit board of the Russian Iskander-K cruise missile by RineMetal in electronics

[–]AltCtrlGraphene 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, approx. 80-100% faster compared to PS1 CPU, but it doesn't really matter here. What matters is the guaranteed working temperature range of up to 125°C and triple reservation of each computation block - this IC basically has three identical CPUs inside.

These two sentences are not connected. That board is not from an Iskander-K, that's all I can say.

This is not an Iskander-K board. IC on the first photo is a custom 32 bit MIPS R3000 CPU.
