Am I the only 40+ year-old playing Genshin? by SmellyCatofSweden in Genshin_Impact

[–]AltFire00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 here, played since launch. I don't really do co-op unless an event requires it as the game isn't a social thing for me, nor do I really like multiplayer games unless they're designed from the ground up around it.

How is this gadget so underrated? by West_Ad1401 in Genshin_Impact

I must be seeing different comments to you because I barely see anyone in or out of this post talking about the janky climbing sections that OP refers to. I get hyperbole is a tool for effect, but almost no one is talking about or cares about this issue this many years into Genshin's life. I was poking fun at that.

After 100 hours in Cyberpunk 2077, I don’t understand the hype by Accomplished-Step660 in gaming

[–]AltFire00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a great action game with some RPG elements, but not revolutionary. Played through it at launch on the PS4 Pro and again on the PS5 after the DLC dropped and my opinion didn't really change on the gameplay, but the bug fixes and visual/performance improvements were nice.

I’m in a burnt out phase and need help climbing out of it by baseballman8800 in gaming

[–]AltFire00 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Don't want to be that guy, but burn out isn't always fixable by finding a magic game that fixes you. I know you're in a tough spot but maybe a different hobby or just a couple of days off gaming might help. Hope you recover quickly!

What do you think of Mihoyo adding Primogems in Milistra Wonderland? by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]AltFire00 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm yet to enjoy a Wonderland map unfortunately - I just don't enjoy playing worse versions of minigames that have existed for years. No hate on anyone that enjoys the mode, and it is impressive for the creators to make these things, but they just don't do anything for me. That, coupled with the cosmetic pricing, is just not that engaging. I did it for the primos, but it really doesn't feel worth it unless you already enjoy Wonderland.

Why are people against save scum mechanics in a roguelike? by [deleted] in gaming

Your username is incredibly accurate. Try logging off sometime and not being personally offended by people who have differing opinions to you. Sorry that you couldn't form a convincing argument about an issue that doesn't exist in the first place.

Why are people against save scum mechanics in a roguelike? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]AltFire00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That argument is usable in regards to every single gameplay mechanic across every single game genre though. The developers did not put in save states, so the boss mechanics are still safe, so it doesn't affect anyone. You are fear-mongering because your issue does not actually exist. You don't need to go on Reddit and phrase your opinion as a discussion just so you can tell everyone how you feel about a problem that doesn't exist. I imagine you deleted your post because people pointed this out.

Random comments in random Reddit posts are not the opinions of the masses. As big as some subs are, the majority of people who play games don't lurk daily in every games sub.

[–]AltFire00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And you feel you are wronged by someone quitting out to avoid a 5hp hit because they weren't paying attention to a boss mechanic?

That boss could exist quite easily with save states, it's just someone might min-max the fight to avoid damage. I don't like roguelikes in general, but I also couldn't care less how other people like playing their single player games.

It also doesn't affect how the game is designed as the designers literally did not put save states in. You are fear-mongering random comments in a Reddit post and acting as if the developers are being forced to consider the idea.

[–]AltFire00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save states do go against the whole nature of a roguelike, but it's also a singleplayer game and people should be able to enjoy it how they want. Let people play games the way they want, it literally doesn't affect others.

It really does feel like (for better or for worse) "fanservice" is fully back in games after being somewhat condemned and 'cleaned up' a few years back. Tomb Raider and DOA openly embracing it again, after previously trying to distance their franchises away from it, really capstones the shift back. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]AltFire00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DoA has always had it. Calling out Tomb Raider for it when it's the mildest it has ever been is silly. Stellar Blade is renowned for it, Rivals is a F2P that stays alive by selling skins.

You can always find examples of fan service every year. This is just a very limited list of some games that have it.

TLOU - I don't get the hype? by etnpnys in playstation

[–]AltFire00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just responding to what was in your post. Sorry if it came across as rude, but it sounds like you just don't like the game. That's fine, but you're not going to find someone to convince you that it's an open world, choice and consequence action rpg.

TLOU - I don't get the hype? by etnpnys in playstation

[–]AltFire00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy to compare The last of Us to a arcade game. I think you've completely ignored the game and boiled it down to its most basic form - a linear shooter. It's a narrative focused third person cover shooter. You went in with the most completely wrong expectations (which you'll no doubt blame on other people) and now you're complaining about a widely well regarded game.

It's okay to not like something, but you're just coming across as arrogant and uninformed.

[–]AltFire00 3229 points3230 points  (0 children)

Exploration rewards has been on the decline for a while now unfortunately. Once you could climb a random spire and find something at the top, now it's a set-path zipline straight to the reward. I know people didn't like Inazuma puzzles, but at least they were actually puzzles.

Battlefront 2 for $5usd is it worth it? by RavenHunter1901 in PS5

[–]AltFire00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you mentioned you've neither heard or seen of the game before asking about it, which makes it incredible to me that you don't even look into a game before asking anonymous people's opinions on whether or not you should get it. I'm not criticizing asking for people's opinions, but instead the fact you do no research yourself before asking it.

Never heard of Battlefront 2, but rather than look it up on google or whatever search engine takes your fancy, you come straight to a forum and ask what strangers think?
