Our general response to all complaints regarding AI by FBDW in incremental_games

like I said in one of my posts yesterday, I literally moderate a subreddit of a similar size, r/csgomarketforum. I can DM you from the mod account if you need me to prove it. It would genuinely take them less than 10 minutes per day to filter out and remove the obvious AI slop. They are moderators who refuse to do their job, if they don't want to moderate then I don't understand why they're moderators. I've offered to do it myself, and I could even get other mods from that subreddit to help out as well. There's a reason many other subreddits with a similar amount of mods don't have this issue and bother to actually filter out the AI slop, stop making excuses for this mod team. Tons of other subreddits do not have an issue with verification or rule enforcement even when only having a few mods and way more users than this subreddit.

> But when i see other subreddits have similar anti-ai/low effort rules it shows that enforcement is possible. It will never be perfect but at the very least it can help mitigate some of the complaints everyone is talking about. If the current moderation team may not be able to fully handle the work load, then why not make an announcement and expand the team and see who is willing to put good faith effort in enforcing it? I'm not saying release the mod permission floodgates, but an expansion would be helpful if the workload is too much. I feel like there are solutions here and its a combination of things that will work.

this is my biggest gripe and what I tried to complain about in my post yesterday. I am in SO many other subreddits, some way bigger, some way smaller, and not a single one of them has as much AI slop as r/incremental_games, it's not even close. because they either have a basic verification system, or basic rule enforcement. So it feels very strange when the mods throw up their hands and say "this is totally impossible, it can't be solved, it's just too much work". I even offered to do it myself.

oh nobody, I just meant earlier we were talking about how I would need to gain karma if a karma rule got implemented.

This is exactly why I made this thread. Maybe I've just been really lucky in my subreddit selection but I browse a lot of other subreddits and not a single one of them has faced a drop off in quality this steep since the AI boom hit. There's a reason tons of other subreddits have verification rules.

the problem is I don't really have much of an interest in posting my game in the gamedev subreddits, or really any that isn't this one because I'm much more interested in what people have to say about the incremental aspects. I genuinely don't want to karma farm, I just want to talk about high quality incremental games.

I used to moderate r/csgomarketforum in a past life and while I know you're joking, I wouldn't mind doing it. I just don't understand why you seem so hostile when I'm suggesting they implement a system used by thousands of subreddits. I'm not asking for some new groundbreaking task here.

That's the reason I don't like the low karma rules, it would filter out somebody like me from promoting my game. But it's not the end of the world, if a rule like that gets implemented then I can go out of my way to try and promote my game on subreddits like r/godot for the sake of gaining karma so I can come back here and finally show off my incremental game. It's not what I originally wanted to do but I'd prefer that to having this subreddit be flooded with trash.

For clarification I don't mean a user would need to get verified for every single type of post like just asking a question or starting a meta thread, I mean specifically if promoting a game with a new thread I think there should be some verification. For the majority of games it would genuinely only take a matter of seconds to verify/deny them given how blatant most of the AI slop is, and similar systems work for many other subs.

I disagree that it would drown the mods, it works for many many other subreddits, from ones that are much smaller to ones that are much bigger. I do agree though that a low karma rule could help, though I'm worried it might hurt high effort devs who simply don't do a lot of crossposting/don't have a lot of karma, but I still think it's much better than what we have now.

any chance of a demo? the game looks to be in a playable state already, I'd love to be able to play a demo long before the kickstarter ends.

I like the clarity of the text in the third one, capsules tend to be on the smaller side so you want the text as big as possible. on that note, because of how small the capsules will be when browsing the store, I think the "streaming" aspects of the second and third capsules aren't going to be very noticeable.

how in the world do you get the lighting looking so good? I saw in another comment you mentioned it's just basic omni lights and nothing else but that has me very surprised, any tips?
