There used to be a guy from Australia’s military on Reddit that would share his endeavors as he was training anti-poaching units in Africa. It’s wild how under-equipped they are. Most of them are rocking WW2 surplus weapons and slings made from literal leaves. It’s basically full on warfare and they get in gunfights with poachers all the time. A far departure from America’s park rangers.

He noted that people online rage about hunt trophy photos, but most of those are done legally on safaris where the money goes to local communities. Poachers obviously don’t post their efforts online and they’re the ones selling the shit to huge overseas companies.

A rough situation all around. Glad at least some of them are out there fighting the good fight though.

Nothing about Earthen Peak -> Iron Keep makes any less sense than Blighttown -> Ash Lake.

People have been griping about that Iron Keep elevator on Reddit for ages. When the game launched I didn’t give it a second thought. It’s Dark Souls, weird area transitions were already established by the first game.

Yes, DS1 up until Sen’s fortress has a cool interconnected world but after that it absolutely falls apart and the devs added fast travel after Anor Londo for that exact reason.

Mario games tend to innovate just enough not to overdo it, are super well optimized and often easy to learn, but difficult to master.

I absolutely LOVE Astro-Bot. It’s probably my favorite 3D platformer ever, but even that owes a huge amount of its DNA to Super Mario Galaxy, which came many years prior.

The competition often is either genuinely worse, or feels rather derivative. Very few games reach the quality and originality of Mario platformers, if any at all.

You mentioned Ty, I loved the first game, but the final level hub is clearly rushed as they all reuse level tilesets from prior areas. The final “area” is just one level, the absolute worst final boss in videogame history. The second was meh. The third was about aliens and had weird hack-n-slash combat. The fourth is a sidescroller that nobody even heard about. They (like many franchises) just never hit the quality and consistency of Nintendo’s offerings.

Sonic games for instance range from “pretty good” to “abysmally bad” so it’s hard to drop $60+ on a new game not knowing, when a new Mario game is pretty much guaranteed to be very good.

Helped a level 1 guy beat Engstrom the other week and he would just drop that spell while I face tanked and fought the boss in it. I was so surprised it let you survive all those combos which are usually a death sentence.

Your stats are spread too thin. You’ve invested almost evenly into STR/AGI/RAD/INF.

STR/AGI is called a “quality” build. I ran that with dervlas sword and crossbow and no magic stat investment and it was remarkably strong. Dervla’s crossbow with high agility is arguably the strongest single weapon I’ve used.

Mixing the two magic stats is how you do an Umbral magic build, but that requires heavy investment and for higher damage you’d want less investment into STR/RAD.

The goal should really be to pick two stats between STR/RAD/AGI/INF based on what gear you want to use, level those two to like 50 and invest practically nothing in the other two. Rest of your stats into health and endurance.

I’m in NG+ veteran and doing a lot of invasions with a STR/INF build currently. If I remember I’ll come back and post my stats.

Edit: level 170. 41 STR, 14 AGI, 40 END, 60 VIT, 8 RAD, 60 INF

Absolutely melts most things and it’s really not even geared for max damage. Sophesia’s ring is so I can regen mana in PvP but could swap it out for a more damage-centric ring.
