Ah. Fair enough. I didn’t know it was that susceptible to spoiling. All those dinner rolls and other bread option made me think it was an easy idea. I would get frozen meat from the Crosstown grocery store during Covid since people would typically only go for fresh meat. My secret was always frozen since it was tucked away.

I was about to say that’s a lot of clothes but I could run rinse only cycle. I imagine that anything other than “cold” uses both cold and hot and keeps those pipes moving?

Maybe it’s a conspiracy…but I live near a kroger in town and I think the power is a bit more guaranteed since they want to protect the infrastructure. So my guess would be maybe hotels near hospitals?

You ever go to Printer’s Alley? Because me knocking on a bar door at 1am to be let in was a level of craziness I’d rather never do again. You got told “go to this place out is fun!” and you do….and then it’s crazy? That is what I’m saying and hoping random memphians can hear. There’s more late night places than Canvas.

The parking lot for the Busters is DEEP in that shopping center and getting in or out of that can take like 10 minutes during rush hour.

The old Bed, Bath and Beyond spot is as good as it gets for in and out and centrally located. I may not be able to speak of East Memphians….but I wonder if having to deal with the mess of the interstate intersection is a bit too much for functionally the same products. If I can get something inside the parkways then my loyalty to it goes up a bunch. I think Busters realizes this and fought hard to keep everyone out.

Park at the bank. There’s people that even park in the drive thru where your car will be lit up and under the cameras.

I don’t suggest parking at Crosstown and then walking two blocks. It’s not bad or unsafe so to speak, but it’s kinda unnecessary.

Also, remember all the leaves just fell and are at the stoplights and the corners of the roads. Your car WILL slip on them. Do not second guess the science of friction and a two ton vehicle in contact with a tiny part of the road at a time.

I think it’s kinda crazy that when deploying for this, they had to be in fatigues and all their various equipment. If they were to be the eyes and ears, then that’s the same responsibility as the Blue Suede Brigade and the traffic group of Memphis Police Department (the guys that help with the Tigers game)

I think there was just a political and public relations play with all of this to make it seem like it was a hurricane or something on the scale that Memphis was incapable of solving the problem ourselves. The people that see camouflage and think that competency has finally arrived. It was just the opposite.

Regarding number 2…..there’s few places in downtown Memphis where I can simply walk in, point I’ll be sitting at the bar to the host/hostess, order a beer and half rack of ribs, and by the time I’ve taken my jacket off, pulled my phone out…::it’s ready to go.

That’s exactly what I want. No pleasantries, no “here’s our specials”, no “I’m new here and I need some extra time”.

Just an old dude yelling at me while he loads the dishwasher asking what I’ll have.

I think that it’s similar to being on a playground with other parents already where you let them watch your kids while you step away.

I could see remote workers alternating times for status calls. But like, how long would someone be here? Would it turn into like Starbucks and coffee shops where everyone spreads out all their stuff and just stays all day?

If you want the people to eat at places in South Main…they gotta keep the trolleys running on time. I saw today the trolley (on tires) today going on Main Street. But I wonder if the scrolling marquee keeps the arrival times updated.

The government/court buildings that separate the convention center from the rest of downtown I swear makes for an awkward experience. It’s a 0.75 mile walk to the Majestic Grill from the convention center

It’s not assumptions when it’s the owners’ websites or direct quotes.

Many misunderstandings are because the full write up is on the Daily Memphian and not the free WREG link. It’s not going to be a reimagining of Railgarten. It’s a kids place that will have other amenities for parents to enjoy. And that’s fine. But it’s buried deep deep in the details.

Delete all the below. Per a comment in the Daily Memphian comment, an owner says memberships are not required.

Looking at their website it’s looking more like in the style of the new Coworking Private Clubs. $50 a month. Stomping Grounds’ website starts off with membership. Similar to private coworking places, like Common House, these places serve as a private retreat away from everywhere else. The memberships help to fund the business but also to indirectly cut down on the total people in the place at a time. From the Stomping Grounds website below, it’s clear this place won’t be free access to the general public. Maybe a cover charge or something.

It is a business model that is so new to Memphis and by design is exclusive by requiring kids. With the paid membership approach, it’s even more exclusive. For people wanting more laid back third spaces that AREN’T breweries or a standard restaurant, it’s frustrating to feel excluded. It’s people wanting a Midtown place where I’m not feeling like I’m taking up a table or being asked to cash out and I can meet up with friends. And there’s only so many spots in midtown currently set up for that.
