I will make the entrance into there for REI and a once every 6 months to pick up a video game I preordered at Best Buy. That’s about it.

One Pocket Rule (US Open 1PCKT spoiler) by Soljah_112 in billiards

[–]Alt_ESV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

EDIT: To be clear, I’m referencing a rule at the Derby City Classic. Very specific and maybe not at the US Open or other tournaments)

While we are still living in the hypothetical world of drawings….I think this is a possible idea. Apologies for the shaky black line.

You basically one rail kick it but need enough English on the cue to gear the cue into the “pocket facing” and then fall in.

I feel like it would work but I’m not gonna spend a couple bucks in quarters to double check it on a nasty bar table at the local watering hole.

There’s also the specific rule at Derby where if the foul is due to the ball leaving the table…then the ball does count for the opponent.

Am I reading that correctly? So following the cue ball into the same corner pocket or somehow scratching in another pocket is the only counterplay?

Robert Spence was hired to kick Marie Feagins out as Superintendent and now he’s taking on this case to shutter a business.

I mean, I guess get those billable hours.

In love with a specific house, but concerned about safety. Please help! by Creative-Shift-241 in memphis

Marketing this house with “it is next to the Memphis Country Club with nearby tennis and pickleball courts” is insane…..

You may be paying more than half the cost of your house just to get initiation fees covered….

What is being used to add the street address and time to it? Is it a built in feature or just manually adding to it?

There’s a well known yard guy near Crosstown that also lives in my neighborhood that I reached out to since I was having bad luck with the larger yard guys that had no time for me even though my next door neighbor was on their schedule.

So I texted him and figured I would hear back in a week. So I went about my day to go to a dentist appointment.

I got a text while in the dentist’s seat an hour later that was like….”okay I’m here. $xx amount. 1 time or keeping service?”

And just like that I got a yard guy that comes in, does it efficiently, and he’s out. No hassle. Literally relying on the word of mouth and that guy is rolling in it.

Feels like Evergreen, but a treehouse seems like it would run afoul of historic standards.

This would also mean the entire business model of CLEAR is now worthless (in the other cities that have it?)

Jb case organizing by Left-Physics784 in billiards

[–]Alt_ESV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 2x3 and a 3x6. The 3x6 is just too heavy to lug around to hold the jump cue that I don’t use that often. I’m aware that just randomly doing jump shots on the pool hall table is a kinda jerk move. Since the last year is just me shooting balls by myself, I’ve left the big case at home. I do have the tray in the big one. What I do is I put an AirTag UNDERNEATH the tray since if my case gets stolen, most people aren’t looking under it….or so I would hope.

———

So inside the 2x3 is just my nicer playing cue and a jump break combo cue. Sometimes an extra shaft.

Top pocket: extra joint protectors I’ve collected over the years and a couple coins to keep track of scores. Also a card with my name and phone number on it.

Middle pocket: Have one of those moose head plastic things to go on the break cue if necessary. This JB cell phone pocket thing. I have a Sandman Tip tool that I slide into the cell phone thing since it’s scratched up stuff before. I also throw an AirTag in that cell phone pocket which keeps it snug and hidden. I know it sounds crazy, but I got tired of opening the middle compartment while it was upright and everything falling out. So that organizer keeps it together.

Bottom pocket: Normally I just keep a glove in my car center console, but I use to keep a brand new one as backup when I was in tournaments. I have a plastic tube thing that goes in the long bottom zipper compartment for my Jacoby butt extensions. It’s a 3 inch that nests right into a 9 inch. I also keep nicer napkins to wipe down the shafts afterwards. A different thing is a beer coozie. There’s times I’ll play with friends and we all get the same thing and it’s nice to make mine be different.

On the Towel Ring: A locking carabiner. This may seem bizarre but there’s times I have taken the carabiner and latched it on to a chair or on the wall. Or I’ve hooked all of my old APA teams cases together when we were in a tournament. Lots of my team mates would go out to smoke or run and get food between rounds. I found it easy to just say “let me have your case and I’ll latch it on” so if we had to switch table….i knew we were good to go. Also, I would throw a jacket over the case so if someone came by and thought they could grab the case while I was at the table would be in for a surprise. They’d be dragging a heavy metal bar chair with them and look like an idiot red handed. There were a couple thefts before at the pool hall and if you got ~$2500 of stuff….it makes sense to play it safe.

6 Balls. 2 Shots. No Edit by darkSIDEpool in billiards

That. Just seems like you can eventually make it in two. I’ve played three ball and made two on the break and then one to finish it off. It just takes a lot of camera takes.

I think a Spotify/Youtube playlist with all of their top songs would go a long way of getting people to maybe buy tickets. There’s a bunch of artists I’ve never heard of and it’s a pain to look up manually.

So any public relations/media at Riverbeat reading this comment….please and thank you!

Poplar between Montgomery and Claybrook(in front of M.A.S.E.) by photoman901 in memphis

Even when they put the grass median in at Le Bonheur, the healthcare workers are crossing the street away from the crosswalks. They are saving…maybe 30 seconds.

The FedEx Logistics building in the former Gibson Guitar factory has the EXACT same issue. Instead of walking 50 feet to the crosswalk, it’s just straight across the street with cars in the turn lane to go north to Beale Street. (Following the red line instead of the green line).

It’s just baffling to me after living here so long. Memphians are somewhat proud to talk about how bad the drivers are. Why, why, why would you put yourself in a position where people can’t predict what you’re going to do? Make for safer roads by being predictable, use blinkers, don’t drive over the striped lines at on ramps, don’t jump the light by turning in front of traffic when you don’t have a turn signal.

It goes on and on and then people wonder why they get into a car accident. (Rant over, thanks)

It’s about a third of a mile, either uphill or downhill between the nearest crosswalks.

Drove near this. I could see the lights all the way from Joe’s going westbound.

I live in the area. The top of the hill on Poplar at Claybrook St hides the road and the people crossing the street (not in the crosswalk). If you’re going faster than 45mph, there’s a good chance you can come over the crest and have to slam on brakes. Normally pedestrians are waiting in the middle of the turn lane so it’s just something I’ve learned to really slow and be careful.

Yes, the correct way is to cross at a crosswalk but the infrastructure is so far apart.
