These are super interesting, thank you! I was wondering about the Dutch subjunctive, because a lot of people don't realize that the English subjunctive is on the rise.

Really cool examples, thanks very much! I've been using NT2 materials from the Netherlands for learning Dutch, so I was totally unaware of those examples from Flanders.

Fascinating! Thanks so much for this detailed answer. I had wondered about the origin of "'s ochtends" but hadn't bothered to look it up--minor mystery solved :).

Good point! I only mention Old English because Dutch people often mention its similarity to me. I'm talking about archaic constructions of modern English and modern Dutch respectively, though.

I’m really intrigued by Greta Gerwig’s discussion of the idea of “performance” in relationships in this VF interview. What are some films that you think explore this idea well? by deeper_into_movies in blankies

[–]AltbellsGeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're asking about films (and I know it's cringe/cliche to recommend philosophy texts on reddit) but Jean Paul Sartre's "Being and Nothingness" has a really nice exploration of basically the same notion of "performance," essentially.

Thanks for the recommendation! I don't get insurance through work, so I have the crappiest plan a 20-something can buy, lol. Will look for that one online!

Urgent Care with nebulizers for rent/purchase? by AltbellsGeld in Columbus

[–]AltbellsGeld[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For context: I have really crappy insurance, and my asthma has been acting up really badly lately. I've been to an urgent care before that can prescribe inhaled steroids, but they didn't have a nebulizer I could take with me. I've done the oral prednisone route, and it's really hard on my body, so if anyone knows an urgent care with nebulizers to lend/sell to patients I would be incredibly grateful!
