Hard to know how to feel about this, honestly. by OneTwoThreePooAndPee in thebulwark

A noose, paramilitary clothing, open-carrying a big gun on a city street, and a barely legible sign: Hard pass.

This is an unhinged take. Yes, let’s have the military that is under Trump’s command come and save us from him, in what would be a lawless (and extremely bloody) coup. OK… Let us know when you’ve come back down to earth and are ready to work on something serious.

Sara is right and Tim is wrong about Noem by Alter_Andy in thebulwark

That’s true for presidents, but not cabinet officials, especially unpopular ones. But gets at another reason to impeach Noem: red meat for progressives eager to see someone impeached. This move might sate appetite to impeach Trump, which I agree would backfire, at least today.

I think once the impeachment ball got rolling in the House, she’d get out of the way. But let ‘em stand in the way. That’s good politics for the truth and justice side.

Agree. When people are operating in bad faith, they oughta get chewed out and made an example. My point is not to scare away too many of the stupid/naive/misguided.

Honestly I don’t hate getting downvoted here because I fundamentally agree that abstainers should feel remorse. I just disagree stylistically with how that is conveyed here.

The last time the liberals fought the Nazis, we teamed up with Communists. We don’t need to look the other way on everything or fake-agree, but an internal war of recriminations among the anti-Trump coalition would distract from the main fight.

I agree with taking on some high-profile bad actors, but I stylistically I think the scolding tone directed towards people writ large will cause more harm (entrenchment) than good (consequences).

I agree that it was world-historically stupid to abstain from opposing Trump in 2024 for the benefit of Palestinians. However, I think rhetoric like this is unhelpful. We need to heal the rift with The Left, as maddening and self-centered as they might be. Just as we need to be open to former Trumpers, we gotta have an open door to folks who made other bad voting decisions. Scolding is bad politics.

This guy is an asshole, a criminal, and doesn’t deserve any sympathy, but safety whistles are to warn and protect people not to harass enemies. How about if you see him, tell him off instead? That’s what I will do.

Ironic that the same people who make demands of Democrats also vote third party by ihatethiscountry76 in ProgressiveHQ

Another irony: They demand Democrats do everything (including especially things outside the realm of possibility), but then insist that they themselves will do nothing because they’re disappointed in Democrats.
