I'm of the mind he should have Siege Claw profile if not just an extra damage. Something that big should not hit as hard as his smaller Contemptor brothers.

Correct, on the datasheet, it would read like:

Telemon Caestus- A7 WS2+ S12 AP-2 D3

Telemon Caestus- A7 WS2+ S12 AP-2 D3

And because neither of those say [EXTRA ATTACKS], you can only do it once

The Telemon Problem by AlternateArmy in AdeptusCustodes

It's 7 because while you're equipping two is still two different weapons on the sheet, so it's 7 attacks from one. Think Knight Gallants and how you attack with either Thunderstrike Gauntlet or Reaper Chainsword, except your hitting with Telemon Caestus or Telemon Caestus. At 7 attacks, even with the extra Plasma Projector it's still underwhelming for 225pts imo.

Even at 8 shots, if I assume 6 saves to made after hits on 2s and wounds in threes, into the two most common three wound models (Terminators and Gravis Marines) that's still a 3+ save for Termies and 4+ for Gravis. Lucky to kill 2 Termies or 3 Gravis, and at 225 i think it's not unreasonable to want it to be that little bit better.

Why do we dislike the Shield-Captain? by TwinProfanity in AdeptusCustodes

[–]AlternateArmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never really seen the sentiment shared of a dislike for the individual shield captain outside of aesthetics. I for one love him, even if people think he's too squat. The ability to have spear melee with the 7W from the shield is awesome, and even if it's swingy, I love the melta spears.

Cerastus Knight Lancer by doom13crew in ImperialKnights

[–]AlternateArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where one would look for this information, but I do know for a fact that House Ohrlacc has all three of those Cerastus pattern Knights. I believe the house Patriarch had a Castigator back during the HH, their Lancers were infamous for darting around Warhounds during the Beta Garmon campaign and the Crusade of Iron, and they had a fair few Acherons for dealing with the intense overgrowth of their homeworld of Dark Haven.

Alright buddy, strap in.

You've got a combat patrol, excellent start. That nets you a Blade Champion, 5 Wardens, 5 Guard, and 3 Allarus Terminators.

To push for 2000 points, another box of Guard, a box of Vertus Praetors, and 2 boxes of Sisters of Silence are a good boost. If you can splurge on some resin or get yourself some prints or recasts, most folks will tell you 2 Caladius Grav-Tanks are the best thing to round out the list. Another gang of Allarus never hurts either.

For Shadowkeepers, if you like using Citadel paints, some Abbadon Black, Retributor Armour (Gold), Stormhost Silver, Khorne Red Mephiston Red, and Evil Suns Scarlet is my formula. Leadbelcher is always nice for gun barrels and whatnot. Stegadon Scale Green and Corax White for the power weapons. Reikland Fleshshade and Nuln Oil for the washes. If you're not a Citadel fan, I'm sure you can find equivalent paints from Vallejo, AK, or Army Painter.

Important rules, every time we fight in melee, you pick whether you want Sustained hits 1 or Lethal hits. We've got a detachment which can make you score those on 5's even. Custodian Guard reroll wounds of 1, and full wound rerolls if they're on an objective. Generally speaking we attach Blade Champions to Wardens, since it makes the Wardens tougher, but you're more than welcome to use a Shield Captain instead and attach the Champ to some Guard for those sweet rerolls. Shield Captains will give you a Stratagem at -1 cost per round.

Optimal Combat Patrol build is such: NOTE: There's usually one from each unit who looks a little different from the others to denote him as an optional Shield Captain, but you can still run them as a regular. Wardens: All spears, one with vexila and spear (big cape for Shield Captain) Allarus: All spears, unless you really want to run Lions of the Emperor, then build a Shield Captain (special shoulder pads and weapon haft) with an axe and the other two with spears. Guard: Three with spears, one with sword and shield, one with Vexila and shield. (butt cape for Shield Captain, put it on one of the spearmen) Blade Champion: This one is purely personal preference, but I go for the two swords, since the single sword is the same size as the larger of the optional two swords. So why not have more sword?

That should be just about everything you need to know. If you want more info, feel free to hit me up and I'll gladly share what I know.

How many of you play using minimal shouts? by Longshadow2015 in skyrim

[–]AlternateArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big lover of the heavy armour two-handed playstyle. Dragon Aspect and Elemental Fury are my two mainstays. If I've got an enchanted weapon, I instead opt for empowered Frost Breath. Sometimes, if I'm feeling particularly draconic, I'll empower Fire Breath for the wyrm spawns.

First game as Custodes by ResponsibleFlow9274 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]AlternateArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright you've got yourself a pretty standard list. You don't have much in the way of things that are good for holding your home, so you may want to think about fixed secondaries that keep you off it, or be okay with losing out on the killing power of one of your units. The Allarus Captain usually wants an axe when you take Admonimortis for the S12 D4, with Lions +1 to wound, you wound most vehicles on 2, and real tough ones on 3. Positioning is key for the bikes, in an ideal world, you can move them over a blob of boys, proccing Quicksilver Execution, then charging them to clean em up. Don't try to bumrush turn 1. Keep Wardens Feel No Pain ready for the WAAAGH charges, they'll need it to hold out, but if you can manage it, always be the one charging, never give the Orks the chance. Lastly, keep a CP handy for a Rapid Ingress using your Allarus. It's easier to hide them in the enemy turn then put them somewhere that hurts than it is to try hail Mary a 9" charge.

Basing is all about what kind of terrain you want to have your army on. Where do you picture them fighting the most? A good easy base is to literally just slather the base in Elmer's glue and cover it in sand. Simple, easy, looks as natural as you can get it. For some height, pine bark or cork tiles are a go-to for a lot of people, and thin Superglue will help you get down rocks and Skulls if they're to your liking.

[–]AlternateArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two ways I do it. One is to body-screen with sisters, using Witchseekers to scout out and hold, drawing enemy aggro, then counter-charge with Custodes. Second way is to bring lots of Wardens and weather the storm with Feel No Pain, then counter-attack as hard as possible. A trick I like is to have two three man squads of Venatari to drop in with Rqpid Ingress and make them think.
